  1. Well, he didn’t score, did he? He should be concerned about the team scoring goals, not whether he’s the one . If going inside is the most likely way to create a chance and a possible goal, that’s’ what he should do. However, on Wednesday it was obvious for everyone to see time and again that going down the left looked a much better option. Riise fires 500 shots a season from up to 40 yards out. He’s doing it because he wants to score. That doesn’t necessarily means shooting is always his best option.
  2. If God doesn't provide us with a miracle, a loss on Sunday is good-bye to title challenge. CL is still a hope though, 3 wins against Besiktas, Porto and Marseille might be hard, but not a miracle.
  3. I agree that 4-5-1 with Torres could be a good idea. If nothing else it would put Gerrard where I want him; central and attack-minded. However, there’s a danger: With our defense defending deep, sucking the midfield back as you elegantly called it, might leave Torres isolated. He’ll need support from behind. With Torres as a lone striker, please tell Carra hoofing is a crime, a very serious crime indeed!
  4. Nothing wrong in cutting inside when the situation is right. But Wednesday Babel repeatedly had acres and acres of space on the outside left, still he chose the inside route only to be surrounded by half the Turk population. My frustration was aching in my bones. I guess moxter is right. He did it because his left foot is lame.
  5. We better play on their half of the field then. If we let them into our half we'll get battered. Sami/Carra too slow. Riise can't tackle a fish supper. Their defence isn't the best in the world is it? I've got a good feeling about this one, really believe we'll beat them. But we have to attack them from the start, Attack! Attack! Attack!
  6. Dropping tons of points at the beginning of the season, then click into gear and end 3rd or 4th. Same as every year, James. You might be happy with that, I’m not. I guess I’m the knee-jerk. I don’t want Rafa sacked. I want us to judge him after this season, but I’m worried. The differences between Rafa and Ged are there for everyone to see. Unfortunately, so are the similarities.
  7. I agree with you. Good post. I too will await my Rafa verdict until the end of the season, but…. What really worries me is what Rafa says in his post match interviews. He’s always telling us “we created a lot of chances”. Sorry Mr. Benitez, but we’re not! Compared to our rivals Arsenal and the mancs I’d say we create about 50% of what they do, simply not good enough. How are we supposed to address that problem when our gaffer tells us there is no such problem? And I hate him telling us how “we were controlling the game”. Controlling the game is OK if we’re 2-0 up. It stinks when we’re 0-2 down and don’t create chances. And. Whatever happened to the match coaching Mr. Benitez? In Istanbul he saw the problem, addressed it, put Hamman on for Finnan. Voilá. Nowadays he waits until the 60th minute, you can adjust your watch to it, and then makes his first substitution. Allways the same whether we’re 3-0 up, at 0-0 or 0-3 down. A cautious sub not changing the system is made at exactly the 60th minute. Then, if we’re absolutely desperate, he makes a sub that might change the match picture, but never before the 80th minute. As I said: When did you stop coaching Rafa?
  8. Chris Lawler, a local Reds fans from his birth. He`s given followers of LFC many happy moments. A part of the Shankly team that made Liverpool FC the force we still are today. Apparently that man´s a twat for having a ticket in Athens. What joy did you give the fans "shouter"? You met Chris in Athens so you must have been there yourself. If Chris is a moaning twat for beeing there, what do you suggest we call you?
  9. I fail to see there’s another side to this. Nobody is asking any specific person to give up their ticket. From 45000 seats surely the club should provide entrance to ex players who have served our club for almost their entire careers. Basta! As I'm quoting our ex players I should also say none of them did complain. I'm the one who think this is shockingly disgraceful.
  10. I just had the pleasure of driving our old heroes Ron ”the Colossus” Yeats and Chris ”the Ghost” Lawler from the airport to their hotel in Oslo where they’re doing a Shankly show tonight. During the drive I asked them if they went to matches regularly. Chris Lawler told me that most of the times he couldn’t get tickets! They both told me there’s a group of 78 ex-players living in the Merseyside area. They have to share 30 tickets among them. So while we’re complaining about the TO, here’s the captain of our famous 1965 FA-cup victory and a man that’s played 10 years for us, scoring 61 goals as a full back (a record?) none from the penalty spot, and the club doesn’t make sure they can go to the matches. An absolute disgrace that is! Someone please call Mr. Parry.
  11. I’ve said for a couple of games now we’re not controlling the midfield as we should. We’ve been using two wingers and only two real midfield players incl. Gerrard. I’d lke to see us with two midfielders AND Gerrard. I don’t believe Gerrard should be put on the right, I’m thinking more in terms of a three men midfield, where Gerrard could have the freedom to attack. Only one wideman or only one up front? As we’re not allowed to use 12 men on the pitch that’s what we need to do. With Gerrard in a free role he’d take care of the right flank when needed.
  12. What do I think of women's football? Well it's not football and it's not women.
  13. Previous post was an answer to the wrong user. I'm somehow not able to edit my own posts. So here I go again. Sorry.. I’m a bit surprised your post was most branded ”the most ludicrus post on here yet”, as you have a very valid point. People on here seem to only look at this from Bascombe’s angle. I’m sure he’s a top man, I’m not questioning that, but…. The boycott of the S*n has been going on for nearly 30 years, that’s a remarkable fact. It’s also a fact that news international/the S*n have tried to end that boycott. They’ve always failed because it’s been too easy to unveil that their motivation was not regret, purely a wish to earn more money. Only naive people would believe they’ve given up. Put yourselves in the seat of the marketing director of news international. From that position Bascombe is a scoop. What better way to decrease the effect of the boycott than to hire the most respected Reds journalist, a man who’s integrity would not be questioned by those who’s actually boycotting the S*n. OK, it’s not possible to let him write for the S*n (yet), it wouldn’t be accepted neither by the readers in Merseyside, nor Bascombe himself. So, let us sneak him in through the back door, the NOTW. If I were in charge of news international I’d say: “Give that Bascombe guy an offer he can’t turn down, get that man!” I’m not saying Bascombe’s decision is bad or immoral, I’ll leave that to you local lads. But I would say you’ve got a point that deserves thinking not ridicule.

  15. Good report. I’d like to add that I’ve never seen our defensive players contributing more to our offensive play. Arbeloa was a threat all 90 minutes. Agger was there with his usual offensive Hansen-style runs, Finnan was connecting well with both Pennant and Babel (or Bible: Hard to read – impossible to understand) and was once caught off-side. Even Hyypia overlapped down the right channel on one occasion. Hyypia as a winger! I couldn’t believe my eyes.
  16. Absolutely spot on, I’m not living in Liverpool, so I can only guess the majority of you local red fans would want to show the family of Rhys Jones some sort of respect. It wouldn’t surprise me if the vast majority of you want to show that the fact the kid was a blue fan is absolutely irrelevant. Whatever our local fans feel is proper should be done tonight.
  17. We should sign Danny. Give him a contract that says he’ll play one game a season, our away game at Old Trafford.
  18. Agree! Let’s use yesterday as an example. Yesterday we all saw a horrible pen decision. The blind ref gave a pen and stopped the play. If we had a video panel that decision would’ve rightfully been reversed. For the sake of argument let’s say the decision was “no foul” on either player, and take it a little further. Drogba was in a very dangerous position and could’ve ve scored had play not been stopped. If the decision was reversed he would’ve been robbed for that chance. That would’ve been equally wrong. If we were to use a video panel for decisions based on opinion we’d have to imply the American football’s “A flag is down!” and continue to play until the panel reached their decision. I don’t know if that is something I’d like to see in football.
  19. Just trying to make a point in my own clumsy way how silly it is to say we’ve had 25 incidents and then not give us the details. I can only guess the incidents are so minor it would’ve been embarrassing to mention them. Answer to your question: Not true.
  20. What about the 25 incidents then? What have we done to be labelled the worst of the pack? I’ve heard rumours that a group of 8 fans was caught on the Subway in Barcelona. Not one of them had a valid ticket. There’s also two persons who ran away from their restaurant bill in Leverkusen. 3 men were caught urinating behind a bush in a park in Eindhoven. In a Sevilla restaurant where they didn’t speak English one man was arrested for abusive language, when he didn’t get the potatoes he ordered. He demanded they served him Putas. That’s four incidents. But the rest?
  21. Got nothing against George. But Tom nicks the price for his Guy from UEFA comment. And Tom looks like he could empty a few, while George looks like he´ll need an hour to finish a Martini. George with a pint of bitter? Don´t make me laugh. He´d need all evening, and then come back the next day to finish it. Seriously though, they´ve both done well so far. I´m still waiting however to see if they´ll deliver.
  22. So, Mr. Guy from UEFA, your boss is trying to be a good boy now, he´s not doing very well but he´s at least trying to taste his shit. Now it´s your turn. I command you little shitbag Guy from UEFA; START EATING! What you say? ..... NO you cannot wank while you eat!
  23. Good post, yet again RoboRiise. This is why supporters of every club in Europe that might one day be in a final staged by UEFA must now demand changes. More Athens and we´ll have a disaster. Better to deal with it before it happens me thinks.
  24. Didn´t want to get on Rick´s back so soon. And I´m entitled to change my mind am I not? I admit I love Hick´s no-bullshit approach. Can´t wait until the 25 incidents are revealed. UEFA´s been shitting where they shouldn´t have. Now let them eat it! I admit you probably were right from the start, as someone else said: Let´s fight fire with fire.
