1. Sorry mate.... How do I wipe the disk and install XP?
2. It's pretty easy but there's a couple of steps that often catch people out, which could explain your problem. Here's a link describing the process quite nicely. Basically you have to DELETE the partition, not repair it. Well, just follow the steps carefully and it should work fine.
3. Well I'm going to install Mint this morning, and maybe Puppy a bit later. I tried to convince the missus to change and she was more open to the idea than I expected. As long as she can use MS Office.... which looks doable, although I haven't looked into Wine properly yet. You chaps got any experience with Wine? Apart from the usual vomit and wetting yourselves.
4. A whole 5 pages about Jamie Redknapp and not a single one of these? Warning! The following content is NOT WORK SAFE. Click the Show button to reveal. Shame on you all.
5. Good question... I somehow landed on the Ubuntu site and just hit 'download', and being a total Linux novice I'm installing that. I take it that the tree I'm barking up is not necessarily the correct one?! Having now done a tiny bit of research it seems that Red Hat is the thing for me. Would I be right in thinking that they're all essentially the same but with differing specialities?
6. Yeah well from what I've read I can run an install of XP pro, and then I'd have to call the activation line requesting a downgrade of the key. On a related note, I've found and old laptop at work and I'm chucking Linux on it. It's a slow day!
7. Thanks mate. I would happily install Linux but as it's the wife's laptop, and she's a slave to Windows, I don't think it's an option. The learning curve that I'd have to put up with just isn't worth it! I always wondered about OEM codes, thanks.
8. Fellow nerds, The wife has a shite Dell laptop with Vista installed and I want to downgrade to XP or maybe upgrade to 7. I've got an XP reinstall disc from another Dell but they put the Product key on the machine rather than the disc (swines). So; 3 questions: First up, if I used a product key from an existing (but not used) XP laptop am I likely to encounter any license problems? Second; has anyone downgraded through Microsoft, getting the Vista key registered to XP? If so, is it much of a hassle? Third: I also have a Dell copy of Windows 7 Professional. Again, no product key. Same question I suppose... can I just use a key from an existing computer? Thanks in advance. By the way, I have checked the it can run 7, and also that I have the 'right' to downgrade. Would prefer to upgrade but don't want to pay. Obviously. Gav
9. I thought the film was cack to be honest. I'll give this a go though. '86 was a good year.
10. I thought she was good. Not my type of music though, and she looks a bit weird to me. Saw Must Be The Music last night. Emma's Imagination... just a girl with a guitar. She's very good. Oh, here you go (40 secs in):
11. Ashley Banks from Fresh Prince. Amazing in that video (Cryin - Aerosmith). I had very rude thoughts and then promptly sprayed my shorts every time I saw this on MTV.
12. I penned my own, think it's a bit daft sending the same email to the same people over and over again. Just shows some fella knows how to right-click a mouse. You don't have to be a literary genius. Mine was 2 lines I think. The message is the same. Do all you can to get them out please. We'll take a 9/10 point hit GLADLY.
13. It seems to me that Babel was subbed because the plan was always to give Torres 45mins. In the same way Cole and Bon Jovo needed longer. Not a great performance, but I feel quite happy that Hodgson is doing the right thing by the new players and our best players. Can't say ftaither thin vat.
14. Definitely fake. Look what they got Murray doing....
15. Is right. Why play him and bring his value down? All seems fairly amicable right now. If someone offers the right money, we'll let him go. If not, he stays.
16. Reality check... nobody really knows what's going on and no amount of speculating and debate between us internetters is going to make the slightest bit of difference. Not that you shouldn't debate it, but there's no reason to get upset or excited yet. They're clearly doing everything in-house and that makes a refreshing change for me. An article, without any quotes, which is then ripped-off by other newspapers, does not mean anything. Wait and see. Oh, and can we close this thread down and start again please? It's playing havoc with Forum Runner.
17. You'll need software to rip from the DVD to your hard drive, and then to convert it to Mpeg4 format. It's a bit of a mission to be fair, and you're better of downloading from a Newsgroup/torrent. Just search 'Sopranos iphone'.
18. Well thank you for sharing! You do get multi-tasking on the 3GS, yes. You basically get all the good bits of iOS4. Whether it's worth getting the iPhone 4? The camera is miles better (720p HD video) and the screen is fantastic. FaceTime is balls, surely?! I wouldn't pay to upgrade from a 3GS but I probably would if I had a 3G. That's my conclusion that I'm sharing with you all.
19. Nah... it's the perfect substitute for the sweet and sour mix which isn't easy to get hold of. Not fresh mind... the carton stuff.
