  1. Are they really suggesting Chelsea SHOULD have had three penalties tonight? All of them soft.
  2. It's the young footballers haircut du jour, not just the Liverpool ones. Footballers of all ages are like sheep, topknots, painted on hairlines, one leg of the shorts pulled up - just a few recent examples.
  3. I don't care whether VVD or any of the players leave when Klopp goes, I'm fully expecting us to return to par post-Klopp (but of course hoping I'm wrong and that we get really lucky with the new manager). I do care that there's 4 months of the season to go and we really need to make the most of it and to do that the players really have to get their heads down, ignore everything else, and work harder than they ever have done. I think it's really unprofessional of VVD. Hoping it's the last we hear from the players except to bat questions away.
  4. Van Dijk, and any player, can do what they like - we just don't need the players to add to the public discourse. He should have known better, and now needs to shut the fuck up.
  5. Sometimes it's better to say nothing.
  6. Why would Ancelotti leave Madrid for LFC? When he took the Everton job he'd just been sacked by Napoli.
  7. One definite positive, if we get Alonso, is that he might be afforded more time in the role before the dissenting voices start questioning his position. Even Klopp only got two years at best. Alonso with his links to the club and being a fan favourite will at least keep a few people quietened down for a while.
  8. It depends what you're looking for and I don't think he's the only person capable of managing us. When I say "fits" I'm referring to my own personal opinion on what/who we could do with next. Everyone, literally every manager in world football is a step down from Klopp, so imo we need someone who could galvanize the fans, someone we can be excited about. And I personally would not get enthused about anyone other than Alonso. Who would you get excited about after Klopp? Or do you not think that's a requirement?
  9. If Alonso came and did well here I'd fully expect him to go to Madrid after 5-7 years. But then who wouldn't given the opportunity? In fact it's where I expect Jürgen to end up after his full year out. It doesn't really matter if it's viewed as a stepping stone (Xabi possibly) or if you don't really plan that far ahead (Klopp possibly). It's about doing and giving your best for LFC while you're here.
  10. Who then? De Zerbi doesn't have the experience you seem to want. Is this just an anti Alonso thing? I do have concerns with Alonso, it'd be daft not to, but I can't see who else fits and if he goes elsewhere before us the chances are we'll have missed the boat on him.
  11. Even if we win the league it will be tinged with sadness, let's not pretend otherwise. That in particular is why the timing is so suss. The announcement must have been forced by something. Some people might not care either way and that's fine but it's also okay for people to comment on it.
  12. Gutted but not as much as I thought I would be. I think it was inevitable he wouldn't be with us much longer and I had come to terms with that. His reasons are not surprising, it must be exhausting competing with cheats and with one hand tied behind your back. But the timing is very surprising indeed. Let's keep everything crossed he goes out on a high.
  13. If they change leader again they'll drag the GE out until January 2025.
  14. What, that he was fit and raring to go?
  15. Hopefully Egypt get knocked out tout suite and Salah returns to Liverpool with the injury not as bad as first feared.
  16. No doubt it is but if I'm reading that information right and it is correct, it still stands that it's only 2015-18 where City have been charged with breaches of FFP spending. The book should be thrown at them of course for all of it but it wouldn't surprise me if those charges are the only ones that receive "proper" punishment (i.e. points deductions for those seasons where, incidentally, they only won one PL) and the rest are punished with a slap on the wrist.
  17. I saw a breakdown of the 115 earlier and as you'd imagine loads are for not supplying info etc and over a long period. But the charges that specified actual breaches of FFP spending were for that shorter period 2015-18. I'll see if I can find it again, and of course I may not have been reading it correctly. edit - the below is what I'm referring to: https://x.com/Mobyhaque1/status/1747405832650686658?s=20
  18. I don't know if I am reading it right but it looks like there's only three seasons where City are charged specifically with breaches of FFP, those being 2015/16, 16/17 & 17/18. If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if they are the only seasons they get any meaningful punishment for.
  19. What's this business about the some of the accounting periods being the same on both charges for Everton, i.e. that they've already been punished for that period? Surely they have a point with that, or is there more to it?
  20. And you'll never get a sensible answer from them because the only possible reason they could have for thinking it would be cos "der Redshite" want them gone. But admitting that would mean admitting we're a fucking massive club who could have such enormous levels of influence over the PL and beyond. But they could never, ever admit to that. It's a subconscious thing with them and it's driving them mad.
