Fanchester: Couldn't agree more, now that he is able to play in the centre with a defensive midfielder he can play his natural game. He's been creating most of England's goal for years with no mention yet whenever England scored from a corner we all had to hear about Beckham's crossing. Maybe now the media will drop all this, indiscipline, hollywood ball bullshit.

I'd be very happy, but I'd also be worried; someone like Martinez should be jumping at the chance of joining a team like Liverpool, if he turns down that chance it could only be because of the terms being offered. If FSG want someone they or a director of football can control they may have to look at someone with even less experience than Martinez.

They scored 2 goals against a team with 11 men behind the ball all game, not bad really. People are reacting as if Chelsea are a non league team, I know they played like one but they've spent hundreds of millions on their squad, they should be able to give Barca a proper game.

Up until the Newcastle game, stats told us that we hadn't lost a game that Andy Carroll had started. Thanks to the internet everyone has an opinion and that's great, but let's give Gerrard the respect he deserves, I saw Dalglish play and as hard as it is for me to admit, I think Gerrard is better. I'd love to have the two of them in the 70's-80's side, then Gerrard would have been given the respect. Just imagine for a moment if he had been in the Man Utd team for the past 10 years, how the newspapers would rate him then. As Liverpool fans we need to enjoy seeing him play in the red shirt right now, he's not going to be around forever, make the most of it, players like him don't come around every year.

I absolutely agree with the allowing of the goal as the advantage should go with the team with the free kick , a few things I don't understand though: Why did the keeper give the ball away to the striker when he wasn't in his goal & why don't referees usually let teams take quick free kicks just outside the box? Webb wouldn't have let this happen if it had been a few yards back.I remember Gerrard getting booked by some ref in a Champions league game for taking a quick free kick. Refs seem to make up their own rules these days.
