  1. Great match. You always seem to get drama with Murray and the beat the clock element just added another dimension. Feel a bit for Baghdatis, though it was obvious who was going to win, just seemed that he was pressured/steamrollered into finishing. I know that it's still early doors for Centre Court roof but I think Wimbledon need to come up with a more coherent policy of when the roof closes and how long into the evening they play. The way it's gone this week they have basically created a night session.
  2. I find it incredibly frustrating how Serena Williams does so well. It just seems to be sheer physical bulk and power that gets her through. She doesn't even look athletic in games, just lumbers about between points and breathing heavily after a modest rally. Some of her footwork and the shape she was getting into at the end of that match was awful. As I say it was brute force that covers these aspects.
  3. Don't know about other regions, but here in NI, local news reporters reading news from WimbleTON!!! It's fucking WIMBLEDON! How hard is it to fucking read and pronounce something right!
  4. I know it's an impossible and cliched thing to do but I'd would have loved to see Federer against Sampras when both in their pomp. Fed only really emerged after the power serve/volley era in which Sampras was king. I do like Murray though and its true he's unfortunate to have 3 monster players ahead of him. Just needs to hang in there as Fed is on the wane.
  5. Ha! Billy Big Bollocks Ronaldo wanted to be the big guy with the 5th!
  6. Fuck, why didn't Spain up the pace in normal time?
  7. Portugal obviously playing for pens, and will win on them! You just know it. Cunts!
  8. GF does tennis thread as only the GF can!
  9. Maybe an unpopular view, but i haven't honestly enjoyed watching a Spain game at this tournament. This no striker bollocks! How Llorente or even Torres can't get a game is beyond me.
  10. A lot of football to be played before the 3rd Qualifying round is clear about what seeded teams are through. But we are certain to be one of the highest ranked teams in that draw and from past experience, the seeded teams are away first. Edit: Sorry, I meant play-off round.
  11. But they don't exist. That's been accepted and the debate is how to deal with the situation of where GRFC/Newco or whoever come back into football if at all. I know what you're saying SD, and those are good examples, but I think there are some differences with Rangers compared to Accrington, 'Boro and Portsmouth. ?Mainly the attitude of HMRC and possible criminal behaviour. Don't know about Accrington, but Middlesbrough's case was a long time ago (mid 80's?) and the attitude of the league was probably a lot different then concerning administration etc. Portsmouth is more similar in that it involved HMRC, but crucially they didn't follow through with winding up action as in Rangers' case. I agree that this whole situation is a disgrace. I said in an earlier post that I have no time for HMRC (also through personal experience), but it is no secret that they have had their eye on football and the way it runs its finances. Rightly or wrongly I think Rangers have just been the club to take the fall here. There should be another way of dealing with this. At the end of the day, yes pursue the guilty, but the "club" and supporters should not have to suffer.
  12. HeHe! Oh to be in a position that you might actually have to worry about this! As a public sector worker, I'm lucky enough to be in a final salary scheme. 15 years to go to 60, so god knows what state it will be in by then. But I do realise I'm very lucky compared to some.
  13. Yes I agree with all that Fanchester. What I'm trying to get around is is Rangers liquidated or not? If they are then surely the assets (stadium etc) should be sold off to pay creditors and the players are all released as free agents. I just feel that decisions are being clouded, fudged because its arguably the biggest club in Scotland involved (don't know who's 'bigger' Rangers or Celtic, don't care so don't want to get into a debate about it). The rules are there for all clubs and apply equally to them. Would this situation be going on if it was Cally Thistle or a club like that? No. I think a compromise of going into 1st division is most likely. They surely can't stay in premier division and are too big to parachute into 3rd division.
  14. What a ridiculous idea! What does this even mean? Playing friendlies all season? And who would even play for them? The Scottish football authorities are making a bit of a pigs ear of this. By not making a strong, no doubt unpopular, decision by stating that Glasgow Rangers no longer exist to all intents and purposes and that any potential new club/company whatever can apply to join the SFL. Of course the whole situation has been clouded by money and greed.
  15. Because they are an inept organisation that will hammer the common individual like you and me but cosy up to big business (Vodaphone) and allow technically legal but immoral practices for the wealthy and famous (Jimmy Carr).
  16. Amulet of Mara. If you don't have one you can get one off the priest at the Temple of Mara in Riften, who will also set the wedding up for you. I think all the partners you can marry have the shop income bag. Pretty handy early on for easy money I suppose.
  17. Ah, but its the wrong type of rain though isn't it, according to weather people and water companies? All the rain you're getting after long drought periods (as in dry not just sunny) just washes off the surface hence flooding. Here, it pretty much rains all year bar the odd good sunny couple of weeks a few times. In fact, the only difference between winter and summer is that the trees have leaves on and the rain is a bit warmer in summer! Surely its not that bad that you couldn't take the dog out?
  18. Have to say, those "rules" are pretty wishy-washy. I would have thought that after the Wimbledon/MK Dons case, which probably drove a coach and horse through whatever rules the league had at that time, that any chance of "franchising" another club would be not allowed in a lot stronger terms. I don't know, but maybe because the idea of franchising is so against the history, culture and set up of football in this country that they feel they don't need stronger rules?
  19. Oh yes, I can confirm that it is pishing down here! We should make "water collection" a national industry here and sell it to the South East!
  20. It's the whole slog from August to the knockout rounds in the new year, plus the Thursday/Sunday schedule that give this competition its current poor standing imo. It is basically the UEFA cup but massively overbloated at the start. When it gets to the last few rounds, it definitely feels like the old UEFA cup. The standard is usually very good at that stage. I think they should look at the teams dropping in from the CL as well. I know we have benefited but it just seems wrong and unfair to teams that have been in from the start. The CL teams will have already made more money from 6 group games than continuing in another competition. Agree with the winners getting at least a CL qualifying place (3rd round maybe). Group stage would probably be pushing it.
  21. Agent shit-stirring here is all. As for the other bit in bold. City darlings, that is your price!
  22. Apart from an initial bonus in Archery, I don't think it makes a lot of difference in the long run. Take advantage of skill bonuses, training and clothing enhancements and keep using the bow, you'll be like hawkeye in no time.
  23. Ever since they were introduced a few seasons ago in the Europa League, I can't genuinely think of a situation in which their presence would be justified. That official there was in the perfect position, he just stands there! Even with goal kick/corner decisions they just stand there gormless! I think it's an ego thing with the ref in that they don't want to undermine his authority. Was there any feedback from the Hawkeye test in the Wembley friendly the other week?
