PODCAST: Man City 3 Liverpool 2 - Match Reaction

Proper footy is back but little seems to have changed over the break. Sloppy goals conceded, more injuries and a disappointing loss. It's like we haven't been away at all.

The defence of the League Cup is over after a 3-2 defeat at Man City that was as frustrating as it was entertaining. TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Julian Richards and Ian Brown to look back on this game and look  ahead to the next one.

Posted this in the Members forum. I'm disappointed and - rolling it into the season as a whole - last night didn't fill me with optimism.

I thought it was just more of the same. Disjointed, no plan, falling asleep at key moments, trying to thread passes through the eye of a needle while the opposition just play through us at will.

I'm not THAT bothered as I'm just happy we won the league and European cup, but (as has been said a million times before) with a bit more investment this could have been so much more.

It's almost 2023 and we're still relying on Milner, Keita and Ox - that is incredible to me.

Good pod though - kept me entertained in my rain soaked lunchtime walk!

We’re in trouble when Brownie is the most optimistic man on the pod cast.

I agree more with him than the others, I didn’t think it was that bad all things considered. Gomez is shocking at defending, when VVD and particularly Konate return we will be much better. The midfield issues remain, obviously. If we don’t spend quite a lot in January top 4 is touch and go.

Looks like knobheads in our travelling support have given them more ammo to use against us.

Kids reportedly hit by pint pots with coins in.....and a flare.

They're reporting it was a 15 year old girl who needed stitches in a head wound. It's grim. I hope the CCTV picks the culprit out and they get banned for life. Massive shithouse move that.

The big problem with throwing stuff indiscriminately is it tends to end up injuring innocent parties - so as you say shithouse behaviour....totally mindless shite.

I've hated clubs in the past but city just tire me out. They're how I felt about Donald Trump when he was in the White House. Every game is an excuse for bile and bilge and fake rivalry, from the fans and their idiot manager alike. A pirate ship of imbeciles from bow to stern and I dread playing them. They're just an absolute cancer on the spirit of football.
