PODCAST: Liverpool 1 Arsenal 1 - Match Reaction

A brilliant Mo Salah goal saw the Reds come from behind to draw with Arsenal in a pulsating clash at Anfield, but the Reds would be sitting pretty at the top of the table if Trent Alexander-Arnold had converted a glorious 2nd half chance at the Kop end.

TLW Editor Dave Usher is joined by Dan Thomas and Paul Natton to dissect an eventful game which once again saw Liverpool's defensive players shine as the attackers generally flattered to deceive.

I find myself wondering if we're looking at Dom all wrong. He started really positively as an attacking midfielder, yesterday I thought he was outstanding in the Gini role. The intensity he closed down at was unbelievable, his stats probably won't show a whole lot of ball recoveries but he forced them into rushing passes countless times. If the 3 boys upfront where doing their thing Doms contribution wouldn't be in question. Kostas injury probably changed the plan of him coming off after 65/70, he was totally gassed by that stage.

Great Pod again, happy Christmas to you all.

Your man Dan is one of the dumbest I’ve ever heard.

That's not very nice. Nor is it accurate. Dan's contributions to the pod are ace and I thought he was ace on it yesterday.

Forgot to mention this on the pod. When Paul was leaving to go into the ground (he always goes in before the rest of us because he's got such a weak bladder) Dan went to shake his hand and wish him Merry Christmas and Paul just walked away and left him hanging. Me, Jules and John all shook his hand to spare his embarrassment (and if you listened last week you know how traumatic hand shakes are for me), but it says a lot about Paul I think.

Yet another reason why I always go in for the hug. Even if it's the shake-hug.

Listened to the pod again today –  I was in and out of a sickness induced stupor first time around and I'm one of those 2x listeners on pods I'm not on – and Dan playing down Trent's pass as wind-assisted cracked me up. What a guy.

When he said it I was thinking "yer wha?" so I went back and watched it a few times and I'm still thinking "yer wha?"

He's right about the wind doing mad things, but the flight of that pass seems completely normal. The ball back to Raya that almost stopped completely like it was in a puddle was mad though.

Just getting round to listening to this in full now. Enjoyed hearing Paul's nuanced views on Darwin. Thanks lads and hope you are all having a great Christmas and get well soon Chris.
