  1. Yep, there is some blatant shifting of goalposts when it comes to Darwin. @dave u, speaking of another of your often maligned boys, do you know Patrick Bamford now has a podcast on BBC sounds? I listened to an episode recently which was dedicated to his brilliant FA cup goal. He mentioned ringing Lineker up for attacking tips and Lineker being surprised because Bamford was the first player ever to reach out to him for such.
  2. Great match report, Dave. Quite enjoyable. And rather than take the bus home as suggested above, just tune off Talksport and tune in to post match chat on your mobile from LFC TV or Redmen TV. Both go live straight after the game and usually dont have the level of bellendry available on Talksport.
  3. Ha!! Lucky bastards. They required an almighty bottle job from Ghana against Mozambique. I dont see Chris Hughton staying on as their manager. Their fans were already on his back before the game tonight.
  4. Probably could save himself all this trouble and just retire from the national team. It would add a couple more years to his club career.
  5. The "he is good when he doesn't have time to think" narrative has undertones of him being too thick or not capable of thinking clearly unless he does things instinctively. There is evidence to the contrary though. Apart from the assists he has created, a good number of his goals haven't been reliant on instinct. The first goal he scored yesterday, he actually thought quite quickly where he wanted to place the shot and executed it quicker than the goalie could react. The one he scored vs Burnley is another in which he had time to think and did so quickly by going for a side foot to the far corner. Nunez just gets judged by different standards in which instinct and quick thinking get conflated as a bad thing.
  6. I like how he gets stronger the longer the game goes on. You would think he wouldn't yet have the stamina to go running up and down the flank all game at premier league level. But he absolutely does.
  7. Had two shots all game and scored both. The Slotter.
  8. His assists per minute ratio is much better than any other player in the top 5. Of course it would be great if he scored more goals, but it is still commendable that he contributes significantly to the team this way.
  9. Both are fairly prone to injuries. They very often don't have both of them fit at the same time. Wilson especially misses many games.
  10. Basically, January and February are like "winter months" in many African countries. In West Africa where the AFCON is taking place from next week, this time of the year is the most conducive because the weather is dry. If the tournament were to be held in the "summer months" of June/July, that would be the peak of the rainy season with numerous floods and thunderstorms. Not ideal for playing football. The weather system of the host country essentially determines what time of the year it is hosted. 2019 AFCON was held in June and July for that reason. And 2025 edition would also be in June and July.
  11. Only the third player in PL history to do this. Incredible consistency.
  12. That was me. Wish I had this handy when my cousin made his stupid claim about Salah getting soft penalties. I'll download and save this for the next time he inevitably brings it up.
  13. It's true he lacks pace on the turn and cant make up ground running back towards goal. However, he is actually quite good on the ball. Surprisingly so. It's incorrect to say his use of the ball is "basic". He threads through many good passes and considering he is supposed to be a bog standard DM, he is a decent goal threat around the opponents' box.
  14. I generally never thought of my cousin as being a dickhead. But recently I could see he had been infected by this special Arsenal brand of stupidity. We were watching their defeat at home to West Ham. Saka goes down easily looking for a penalty. Ref correctly doesn't give it. My cousin then says "Ref is cheating, Salah gets pens like that all the time". I simply erupted, told him to shut the fuck up because Salah barely gets any 50/50 decision off the refs. It was clear he is one of these Arsenal fans who genuinely believe Saka is better than Salah. No other reason for him to pick Salah (of all players) as a beneficiary of soft decisions.
  15. No contest, the Arsenal fanbase is the most deluded and most stupid bunch of entitled cunts in existence. I am in a group in which more than a few of them stated that Liverpool deliberately over-watered the Anfield pitch last week to stop their team from winning. And they were saying Klopp was the cause of the injury to Tsmikas!! One of he numerous times they've chatted the worst bollocks. I recall also during the pandemic, how they were adamant that Liverpool and Klopp faked a covid outbreak because we didnt want to get knocked out by them in the league cup.
  16. You really nailed it here. The commentators were doing my head in, saying Tierney blew the whistle long before Gakpo took the shot. But that wasnt true at all. The ball was on the way to the net when he blew up.
  17. True, Saka didnt mean for Kostas to get his collarbone broken. But the reporting of the incident by Skysports and BBC has been laughably inaccurate. They've made out that Klopp actually was a factor in the injury without acknowledging that Kostas only landed that way because of the forceful nudge. Klopp almost got injured himself. But I kid you not, there are Arsenal fans going round saying Klopp basically injured one of his own players and it serves us right for watering the pitch too much!!
  18. Skysports still have the Tsmikas injury caused as a result of "colliding with Klopp after competing for a ball with Saka". A very disingenuous way to describe what actually happened.
  19. Some truly nonsensical comments about Trent in here. People making shit up and trying to justify their hatred of a player who has been crucial to the team's improvement from last season. Some of our fans are really entitled cunts. Sure, Trent occasionally makes the wrong decision on the pitch but that applies to every world class player. And make no mistake, he is a world class player contrary to the thoughts of the idiots on here who want to cane him at every opportunity. He hit the crossbar and to them it's because he was looking for a "Hollywood finish". He bust a gut to support a counter attack and he gets slagged off. Agenda much?
  20. Another of these inaccurately weird theories is this one that Trent playing the inverted fullback role "doesnt suit the defence" and weakens it. The reality is we've conceded the least number of goals this season so far. It's not as if our defence has become leaky, rather it is tighter in comparison to last season when we were always playing 4 at the back and shipping loads.
  21. Nunez did perform better from the left tonight and it was a smart assist from him for Jones. Having him from the left might be a good way to play him back into form. I think it would also be a great tactic to use him there vs Arsenal who also tend to have Ben White leaving space which Nunez could exploit.
  22. Trent played 30 odd minutes tonight in the number 6 role and added 2 assists to his tally for the season. (Although Curtis Jones did a lot of heavy lifting for that 2nd assist). Still, it's more evidence that Trent is a natural playmaker who can deliver either on the right as a full back, an 8 or a 6.
