    Tuchel is doing a horrendous job at Bayern given the resources he has compared to the rest of that league. Wouldn't surprise me if Xabi went there next. Weakening another German side by bringing a former player back fits with what Bayern normally do.

    Crazy isn’t it, some people are able to see that missing four clear cut chances a game maybe isn’t a great attribute for a striker, but pointing that out makes us desperate for him to fail, somehow.

    There are a lot of reasons I am desperate to get a win tonight but most of all because it will send us three points clear at the top. (Two when City win their game in hand). I fucking hate this Newcastle side. There are a lot of shit things about the Premier League in 2024, they’re one of the worst.

    It’s not a proper rebuild until we get a proper first choice defensive midfielder imo. That will be summer at the earliest, or maybe summer 2025, depending on other players we need.

    I would honestly have Arsenal fans as the second most mentally ill fanbase in the country after the toffees. I fucking hate the mancs but they’re not as insane as the Arsenal lot. Bitter, spiteful, arrogant, violent dickheads, yes, but not as completely bonkers as the Gunners.

    You think we’ll actually improve over the second half of the season? I’d be very surprised if we don’t fall off the pace to be honest. Salah and Endo are out for international tournaments, Szoboszlai’s looking dead on his feet half the time, Matip’s gone, Diaz and Nunez are, shall we say, not in a good moment, and we don’t have a fit left back. I don’t reckon Klopp expected a title challenge from us this season and we all know FSG are happy with champions league qualification and nothing further. So I’d be very surprised if we went all out to try and win the league.

    Would be pretty surprised if we got a defender in Jan. Van Dijk will play every game, except for the FA Cup game perhaps, and Robertson will be back by Feb.

    This, basically. Some people are so overinvested in Darwin being The Next Greatest Striker Ever they can’t or won’t see that he’s not really that level. He’s not shite or anything, I like his attitude, he does put in the effort, and he’s better than he was when he first joined, got to respect that. But he’s never going to hit the heights of players we’ve had previously like Torres or Suarez or Fowler. There’s no shame in that. They were world class.

    Interested to see what the plan is in midfield while Endo away if Mac Allister is not fully fit. Or even if he is. I’d be trying extremely hard to get a defensive midfielder signed for the 1st of Jan myself.

    Outside of the penalty shout for the handball against Odegaard I didn’t think the ref was that bad. Trent hitting the bar is going to haunt me for the rest of the season. I still can’t believe he missed that. Bit of a bobble on it but he still should have buried it.

    Yep, too many poor decisions in the final third, too many wasted chances, no real cohesion. Might be down to tiredness. Might be down to certain players just not being good enough.
