  1. That's true but hopefully players like Salah and Trent would try to get us a fee if they want to leave. Salah being a club legend and Trent, a local guy.
  2. It doesn't take a genius to know Inzaghi's a great manager, but he was probably never realistic.
  3. Lets be honest though, if you get a manager from the Dutch or Portuguese League, what they do in those leagues tactically is close to irrelevant because those leagues have little to do with the top level. I mean, in the Eredivisie, 15 of the clubs would be around relegation spots in the Championship and they run less than bottom half Championship clubs as well. If you are a good manager in that league, you could do practically anything and be successful. I'm not all that convinced that what he has done at Feyenoord he would do at Liverpool. He says Guardiola is his biggest influence. That could just be a token line, but that doesn't jive with what we do. There is a chance he comes here and tries to play more controlled football because he will now have better technical players. It would have been the same with Amorim. Maybe the 3 at the back thing he would always keep, but other than that, what he did at Sporting tactically has maybe nothing to do with what he would do in high level games in England with better players. In truth, the important thing is that he comes with a specific way of playing, whatever it is, and isn't just some reactionary like Rodgers who said he had a style of football, then tried to play every different way under the sun to keep his job.
  4. Mate, Nunez is a player for the nerds. He's for the people who will tell you finishing will turn around just because that's how it is probability-wise. Anybody with a set of eyes who sees him miscontrol and miss chances can't possibly think he's a top player.
  5. Nice. To be fair, at his age, I don't think van Dijk is under the allusion that this is somebody who will definitely help him win another league title. It's a project. Might be a good project, but it's a project. I think deep down, this was going to be the likely sort of hire. We are that sort of club.
  6. He is Mbappe, Messi and Ronaldo rolled into one and he plays the false-Beckenbauer position.
  7. Your Trent stuff is some of the worst stuff I've read on this forum. The guy who basically wants him dead on here is closer to being right than you are. It's unbelievable.
  8. You actually have the unmitigated gall to call people clueless and then you come up with that. My word. Do you think Trent is Messi? Is that it?
  9. There was clearly some ego thing going on behind the scenes with Edwards and Klopp before the former left.
  10. I agree it's not the best thing. Even if we end up keeping Nunez, it's an "I am the captain now" kind of media leak. I'll be doing stuff now and the people leaving did bad stuff. Like alright, cool man.
  11. When the squad and level of the performances weren't that good to begin with and you're just getting results, it's those sorts of events that ultimately kill the spirit.
  12. You're a pigeon who got banned and reappeared with a new account. I'm not gonna dignify this with a serious response.
  13. Quansah is really good, I basically willed him to be good (some may say I invented him) but after the United debacle, you have to protect him a little bit.
  14. It could have said Carlton Cole, that's not the point. There's a brief by people at the club putting Nunez down.
  15. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/sport/football/article/liverpool-arne-slot-jurgen-klopp-salah-nunez-trent-football-z32d7f56b https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2024/04/25/mohamed-salah-liverpool-darwin-nunez-transfer-future-slot/ Eddy already telling Joycey and Basco to write the hit pieces. Choice line from Joycey; "Nunez was very much a Klopp signing. Liverpool’s recruitment preferred Christopher Nkunku." Basco: "When Klopp leaves this summer, Darwin Nunez loses his biggest ally. Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes are entitled to look coldly upon Nunez’s contributions knowing that he wasn’t signed under his watch. Uh oh.
  16. Robertson is a legend but can we try to force him out? Im sick of him.
  17. How many goals is he scoring in that position?
  18. We dont need Endo whatsoever. Bajcetic is a promising player, we have seen Alexis is a serviceable option at 6, though you dont want him to play there often, and if you buy a top 6, that player will play almost all the time.
  19. He already has a free role. There isnt another player in world football where the extent of what they have to do is basically saunter to the middle of the pitch and swing their right foot a bunch of times,
  20. Wow talk about a change of tune. Thinking about selling him? Oh my, who would do that?
  21. Thats an interestingly positive view. Will be an easy job for Slot, then.
  22. I think thats a great summation. To me, thats not a player Id get rid of because this squad has a lot of holes and I wouldnt just get rid of someone entering his prime age, at a loss, that has the ability to make things happen. Equally though, theres no chance we will ever be able to rely on him as a main guy. The most disappointing thing is that, anybody with eyes could see he wasnt good technically, but the finishing is the part that has just been shocking. While that part might fluctuate at some point, no one will ever forget how bad it was when it counted this season.
