    I think FA cup winners, and the equivalent cup in other leagues should get the chance to be in it, maybe at the expense of a league position based qualification. I don't mind it as it is, and i like the Europa League too apart from it's new name, but i don't think CL group stage failures should drop into the Europa as they do.

    They should sort out rules for when stuff like that happens rather than rely on some unwritten rubbish In a game where players openly cheat and bend the rules in almost every game, they decide to punish a player like this for unsportsmanlike conduct? You're right, it's a load of crap. For a sport with such a big bearing on people financially and emotionally, you'd think they'd have a clear set of rules with no ambiguity. They don't even have a rule for when the ball hits the ref as far as i'm aware.

    Like i said, there were some Swansea fans at our first game of the season. Why would you go around Liverpool forums copying and pasting David Brent and Joey Barton quotes? I've never been able to sign up for RAWK.

    We might have done a bit better with them. I think both players would have been good for us, and we'd have been better for them. But overall i'm not too disappointed we missed out. There are plenty of other options out there in these positions. I'll be more worried if the same scenario happens in January, and we miss out on more players.

    Yeah he's been good. Better than i thought he would be but when you're as technically gifted as he is i suppose you can slot in to a team like Southampton and look good. They were willing to take the £10m + gamble on him and we weren't. Would you rather have bought him or get Sahin on loan?

    Yeah i've spoken to a few who don't get it, but the fact is when he played for you he played slightly further up than he is doing now. We need someone neat and tidy further up the pitch. I saw glimpses of him in the Olympics further up the pitch, and a comfortable passer of the ball can be as valuable up there as a flamboyant creative spark. Ideally you need both and when Allen moves forward he'll be one. As for the creative spark only Suso for me has shown this, and we can't rely on him for that yet.

    I think Allen was the player we wanted/needed, but Lucas getting injured again threw a spanner in the works, so Allen's been playing in that position, which is where Britton plays for you. Wasn't Rodgers the manager who signed Britton back for you too?

    Take it you weren't one of the Swansea fans at our first game at Anfield under Rodgers then? I don't think you're that much different to last season. Maybe a bit more direct thanks to the new additions and the loss of Joe Allen.

    There were some average players in the team last night who we paid a lot of money for, Downing tries and fails, and Henderson seemed too scared to try, albeit out of position for most of the game. I suppose this doesn't need saying again but it's still a big problem. We need to replace them with at least above average players, for probably less money which will be more difficult. Just wish we'd spent that money more wisely in the first place. We're still mopping up mistakes of the past on and off the pitch.

    Not sure about this either way. It just feels weird and i never thought he'd take a job at Chelsea. At the moment it feels worse than when Torres went, but not in an angry way, just a weird way. All this FSG bashing is predictable, but i think they made the right move in not bringing him back here.

    Haha, they're the seats i always end up with. Some i got in the members sale said severely restricted view in Anfield Rd, so i guess they're the ones where you twat your head on the roof if you jump up to celebrate, and you have a good view of the centenary stand and not much else.

    So when you say "happy with the main stand" do you mean happy with it's condition, or happy with the atmosphere there? Personally i'll take seats anywhere. Especially after years of being unable to afford tickets and even if i could afford them, often not being able to get them anyway.

    Not writing anything off. You'd expect the January transfer dealings to reflect the fact that no team has looked particularly good in that race for fourth. At the start of the season i thought we'd have no chance of fourth and a Europa league via the league would be a good performance. I'd still be happy with that, but there are lot of supposedly top teams capable of playing badly this season, and if we make sure we're not one of them we could push forward. And the Europa League is a great competition to be a part of and i hope we are until at least the latter stages.

    I agree it was a good decision. I didn't think Suso was playing that badly either, he made a few good forward runs and always looked to be finding space.

    Looks like you missed this post. Must be the shit user name and the red bricks. They had a fair amount of the ball in the first half though. A few periods where they kept it for a good length of time too.

    They billed it as one of those episodes where every game was a classic, but i thought it was quite drab to be honest. Maybe it was just the way they edited their highlights.
