  1. Had a feeling after Sanchez hit the bar and then Fabregas fucked up that easy chance it was going to be one of those nights. Wish I shared the optimism of some on here that Barcelona will hammer them in the second leg and I thought before tonight they would comfortably win the tie but now I'm not so sure. Got the impression that you sometimes get watching these games that Chelsea are just destined to go through after some of those misses tonight. Chelsea will probably get one chance in the second leg from a set piece or something and sneak through on away goals. I actually thought Drogba had started to ease up on all his feigning injury antics the last few seasons but he was worst than ever tonight. Should have been ten minutes injury time at the end of the first half just for the amount of time he alone spent on the floor.
  2. Spot on with my predictions as ever. Fucks sake. Stuffy bastards.:wallbutt:
  3. Thought he handled the game at Old Trafford very well when many other referees would have just been looking for an excuse to send Suarez off. Probably the best referee at the moment (maybe that's not saying much though). If it had been Friend or mason I would have pretty much given up on us winning the FA Cup they've been so consistently biased against us.
  4. Hopefully we can win both. Really don't rate this current Chelsea side at all. They're struggling to make the top 4 despite getting numerous helpful referreeing decisions all season. Take those away and they'd be doing as badly as us in the league. Think there's a real chance Barcelona could absolutely humiliate them if they're really up for it over the 2 legs in the champions league.
  5. Yeah Wolves are down which is a shame as they're one of the few teams in the Premier League that don't seem to have anything that particularly irritates me about them. Blackburn seem to have fallen back into a slump and it's probably too late to turn it around now and then it's probably between QPR and Bolton for who else goes down. Much as I'd like to see Villa go down they'll probably just about cling on and carry on being the most pointless and tedious club in the country.
  6. Amazing how Wigan do this every season. I think if they do as badly at the start of next season then I'm going to start backing them in every game from March onwards - there's bound to be a profit in it as they just seem to refuse to fuck off to the championship. Actually thought of putting the last couple of quid in my betting account on them on the Draw No Bet tonight at 9/1 but decided they would probably have taken a lot out of themselves with their recent displays and this would be perhaps one big game too many. Just had to laugh when they were 2-0 up after about 7 minutes. God Arsenal were hopeless in the second half though. They looked even less like equalising than when we were 2-1 down against Wigan the other week. Van Persie has an off day and they really have nothing else. Hilarious that they're starting to talk about winning the title next season.
  7. Don't know why I ever watch a United match - it's the one thing guaranteed to ruin a good mood. You always think maybe it will be different and then seven minutes in Young's diving again and despite the referee having surely seen the dive from last week he can't point to the penalty spot quickly enough. And for the second week running there are pundits on sky trying to justify it. No wonder they always get away with it.
  8. Gone for Chelsea just because of our head to head records against the 2 sides in the past few seasons. Spurs are in poor form at the moment but you could say the same when they won 2-0 at Anfield near the end of last season. We don't seem to have really worked out a way of beating them yet.
  9. Wow that second half was a pleasant surprise. Poor first half display and I couldn't see us getting back into it but we looked like a different team in the second half. Well done to Carroll for keeping going and getting the winning goal after a few bad misses. Special mention for Jones who I must admit I was worried about and he looked like an accident waiting to happen when dealing with some of the crosses at the start of the second half but he really grew in confidence as the game wore on.
  10. Another really frustrating home game with a combination of bad luck and bad play letting us down yet again. Keep thinking at least one game will be different but there seems to be a set script that has to be followed every time. I think with Suarez his finishing has been very poor at times but he also has to be the unluckiest player in front of goal I've ever seen. How many times this season has he almost scored a wonder goal only to see it hit the post or be denied by some amazing save or last gasp block? His header that hit the post on Saturday was a great effort and just plain unlucky.
  11. That comment from Alan Smith summed up the general attitude to United in this country. 'They might have had a bit of luck with the penalty but they've done everything right today.' Almost implying it was inconsequential to the result. A penalty awarded when a player is offside, dives to win the penalty anyway and also leads to a sending off is not a little bit of luck. He then mentioned the great comeback at Chelsea with no mention of the dodgy penalties that helped them to get it.
  12. It will probably barely even be mentioned after the game how much the referee influenced this match. It was like when they came back from 3-0 down at Chelsea. All the headlines afterwards were about what an amazing comeback from United it was with no mention that it mainly came about because of two laughable penalties that no other team in the league would have been awarded. All you ever get is the odd reference that they get a few generous decisions but until more is made of it it will continue to happen and they'll continue to win the league most seasons no matter how many average players they have.
  13. Also thought the ref was utter shite again. His decision to book Suarez for diving in the second half after clearly being fouled just about summed it up - think the ref was about 2 yards from the incident too.
  14. Well I suppose they at least showed a bit of fight near the end to get the equaliser which is more than can be said for the games against Wigan and Newcastle but God it's depressing to be relieved at salvaging a draw at home against a side as bad as Villa. There was so much wrong with the goal we conceded I don't even know where to start and it was a struggle from there on. Yet again time after time the players just seemed to make the wrong decision in attacking positions. They would shoot when they should have passed and pass when they should have shot. It was good to see Agger back and hopefully he can at least sort out the defence which has been a shambles since he was injured. God knows who will sort out the attack. Really can't see how we can win the semi final next week on current form. Virtually every player seems to be below par at the moment.
  15. Good report as ever Dave - just wish I could read a few about us playing well and winning for a change. I can't remember ever being so annoyed with a Liverpool performance as I was daft enough to expect a reaction after recent results. We certainly can't use the excuse of tiredness like after the Wigan game. The officials were utter crap (allowing that second goal has to be one of the worst decisions I've ever seen) and as usual we fell behind against the run of play to the first chance the opposition created but none of that makes it acceptable for the way the players just gave up after going a goal down.
  16. Expected a big reaction after Wednesday. Forgot we had the most gutless, passionless set of players to ever wear a Liverpool shirt. No reaction at all after going 2-1 down. Wigan were so comfortable in the last half hour it wasn't real. We could say at the start of the season that the performances were much better than the results but even that's not the case any more. Bolton away, Sunderland away, Man Utd away and today's performance all completely unacceptable (there might be others, those are just the ones I can think of off the back of my head). A league cup win and even an FA cup win would not make up for finishing in the bottom half of the fucking table.
  17. Fair comments about Reina. He's had a poor season by his standards but hopefully it's just a blip and I still think he's by far the best keeper we've had in the past 20 years. It does sem like every time the opposition gets a chance it ends up in the net though and his failure to save a single penalty has been irritating me for some time. I know a keeper is the underdog in that situation but some keepers seem to be a lot better at doing it than others and even the mediocre keepers in the league seem to save one occasionally. It's especially frustrating because he was so good at saving them when he arrived here. I remember reading he had something like a 50 percent success rate at saving them for Villarreal so how can you go from that to his 0 percent success rate of the past couple of seasons? Nothing really much to add about the match. We've thrown away some unbelievable points this season but that was taking the piss even by our standards. QPR probably couldn't believe their luck at the end of the game.
  18. Still trying to get my head around how we lost that game. I'm too stunned to be even angry. First 70 odd minutes were pretty decent and the only frustrating thing was we'd yet again been so wasteful in front of goal and hadn't scored more but 2 goals still should have been more than enough. Especially against a side as bad as QPR - I mean seriously they looked absolutely dire for most of that match and only possibly Wolves have looked like a worst side to me this year. They seemed to spend most of the game doing their best to gift us goals and we still couldn't beat them. As soon as they got a goal back I was worried and it seemed almost inevitable they would equalise. Hadn't anticipated them actually winning the match but hey if you're going to throw a game away you might as well go the whole hog. There's obviously a lack of quality in some areas of the squad but our biggest problem seems to be a mental weakness in too many of the players. None of them look confident in front of goal and we seem to concede virtually every time the opposition manages even the tiniest bit of pressure.
  19. The joy of my accumulator win from Saturday was quickly cancelled out by a horrible few days where pretty much everything I bet on lost. Barcelona game summed it up. Considered Messi to score two, a hat-trick or as first goalscorer and of course opted for first goalscorer. I also usually back loads of goals when Madrid or Barcelona are at home too but got put off by the odds this time and there ended up being 8 of them. Had a bit of fun with the Soloman Islands under 23 team against American Samoa before though. Was bored and somehow ended up watching it on the stream on bet 365. Never seen anything like it. They scored virtually every 2 minutes at one point. Were 15-1 up near the end. I Kept just betting on them to score more goals. Don't think I've ever had a bet with 2-1 odds settled in less than five minutes before. Bastards at bet 365 eventually cottoned on they were just giving money away though and shut down all betting. Doesn't make up for the previous few days though.
  20. What horrible news. Just went to see what the score from this game was and then saw about this. Hope he's okay.
  21. Wahey finally got another over 1.5 accumulator in. Every game was done and dusted with about 25 minutes to spare except Colchester v Huddersfield which Colchester were winning 1-0. Sat glued to the videprinter urging a goal to come through from that game but it wouldn't come and it looked like yet another bet was going to miss out by one goal. Then a 95th minute own goal equaliser for Huddersfield followed by 1-1 being confirmed as the full time result about 2 seconds later. Must admit I got a bit excited. Won 60 something quid on it. Think it's the first big slice of luck I've ever had gambling on football.
  22. My second bet for the day is a single on Schalke. They were 3-0 up. Now it's 3-1 at half time and the way things have gone for me recently I'm actually a little nervous. If this doesn't win I think it's time to give up. What's the deal with German football and injury time by the way? They never seem to play any. Four goals and they don't even have a minute injury time at the end of the first half. The last 2 games I've seen have had loads of injuries and stoppages and then the board at the end of the game has come up with 1 minute.
  23. Thought I'd made a decent start to the day with an Athletico and Valencia double. Athletico won earlier and Valencia were 2-0 up at half time. Just looked at the score updates and it's 2-2. Genuinely don't know how good teams can constantly throw away 2 goal leads at home against mediocre sides. It's gone beyond a joke how many times this has happened to me now this season. Seems to have replaced the constant injury time equalisers from last season as being the way to get my hopes up and then kick me in the nuts.
  24. That's some run. Cheers for pointing out the site.
