1. Sounds like a great kid. Kind of like my nephew.... I'd send it directly to the club. Here's the address that CVs go to: HR Department, Liverpool Football Club, PO Box 1959, Liverpool, L69 3JL. Just replace "HR Department" with "Player Relations" or some such thing and perhaps you'll get a response.
2. I love the back story about how he got interested in Liverpool. Great stuff.
3. I apologize if it's a repost, but I found this fascinating: Boston Red Sox - Tough way to get your kicks - The Boston Globe
4. Hey, some of these players have performed well for me over the course of multiple seasons as Liverpool.
5. He has some good points: YouTube - David brent on football management
6. Let me give my two cents... On the Red Sox Side of thing, Warner and Lucchino are the only two you ever hear from. Warner very rarely comes by. There will be a photo op or two a year- maybe the odd lunch with JWH. Lucchino has a hand in running things. He is a straight shooter prone to saying amusing things that get him in a little bit of trouble. For example, after missing out on signing a desired Cuban player, he dubbed the Yankees the "Evil Empire" and complained that their "tentacles" now reached into Latin America. I rather like him. JWH really is the primary member of this group.
7. Hi! I thought it'd be neat to talk about our favorite/least favorite songs associated with sports teams. Of course, we all know the significance of "You'll Never Walk Alone". Here's the song that JWH's other team (Boston Red Sox) has adopted as their own. This is played at Fenway after every home victory. I find it interesting that the song doesn't exactly paint a rosy picture of Boston. "Dirty Water" by the Standells.
8. Let me handle this one. In baseball, they need two men to do what the "coach" does in football. The "general manager" (GM) handles the task of hiring/firing players, coaches, etc. He also drafts new players and makes trades. The "manager" is the guy who makes "on field" decisions. JWH almost immediately sacked the Red Sox GM upon buying the team in 2002. They went with GM Mike Port for one season before replacing him with current GM Theo Epstein. Theo was a life long Red Sox fan- young and brilliant. I always got the idea Port was a place holder while they searched for "their guy". The field manager was kept on board. He made a really, really dumb tactical error in the 2003 playoffs and was sacked almost immediately. Current manager Terry Francona was put in place shortly thereafter.
9. Riiiiggggghhht. So, they intentionally put a bad manager in place. Why don't they put Robbie Fowler, David James et al back on the field while they're at it, if this is their actual goal? Heck, isn't Ian Rush available?
10. No way. It seemed like every time the guy rolled out of bed he reflexively went and signed some sucky Spaniard/ Italian. Riera, Dossena, Morientes, Arbeloa, San Jose, etc. As though there aren't enough terrible football players in England, he has to go and import them. This ship has sailed.
11. I was just getting ready to suggest Nicol. You took the words out of my mouth. He's a Liverpool legend and at least a little familiar with John Henry. He's done a good job with the NE Revolution...most of the time. This year the team sucked- but they had some young & awful players.
12. These are the kinds of things no one thinks about when you're winning. When you're losing, all these odd theories pop up. Is it the manager? Is it a lack of Dutch "Monty Python" fans age 16-23 who came through the Fulham youth system? Once the turmoil at the top is settled, things will start to go back to normal. Liverpool will start to win. And people won't think of things like this again.
13. There is a better chance of Eric Cantona being appointed head of security at Anfield than there is of Hodgson still being in charge at this time next year.
14. Tits walk around the UK? On their own? Not attached to women? I'm in the wrong country.
15. Here's closing pitcher Jonathan Papelbon with "Blame it on the Rain Delay". It's Milli Vanilli's "Blame it on the Rain" with better costumes. And yes, they really do play this at Fenway park during rain delays.

17. Man do I hate Sabbathia. He's fat. Anyone know any good Neville Southall jokes?
18. Help an American out here... "New Pony"? Is that kind of like what we call a "binky"? A security blanket or obsession?
19. Actually, it's kind of a brave thing to admit to being a Mets fan. Their ship has sailed..and sank. Anyone aligning themselves with that club is certainly not a fair weather fan. Truth be told, I find the Mets entertaining.
