Oh, right. My self-esteem is in tatters here.

What do the kids who got nonced up think of refereeing standards?
-
Only children who post shite about imagined bias from referees.
-
When was this golden age where everyone thought the standard of officiating was great? Which other countries exist where players, managers and fans are perfectly happy with the standard of their match officials? The fact of the matter is that our current match officials are simply subject to the same levels of derision that they've always been and the same levels that their foreign contemporaries are and have always been. It's simply the default position of many players, managers and fans because it's an easy outlet for frustrations caused by poor performance by players and managers.

You don't think refs are "properly professional"? They are professional referees. What do you mean by "properly professional"?
-
This post of yours, despite it being both pitiful and childish, is still far less ridiculous than your opening post. It's a step in the right direction. Good for you, pal.

A creative player who only cost around £8m that made a significant contribution to a team that nearly won the league title would surely constitute a success?
-
If you cannot decide if he was a success or a flop, then surely you have to choose "Jury's out".
-
You have a point about Rodgers' development of those players, but you didn't have to incorrectly criticize their previous performances in order to make that point.
-
So, by this bizarre reasoning, anyone who isn't in our best starting XI cannot be a successful signing? You believe there's no such thing as a good squad player?
-
Why were you unable to categorise Kolo Toure? He is a footballer that was signed during Brendan Rodgers' management, just like all the others you've so carefully assessed.

Was Hutton's foul any worse than when Lallana nailed Cleverly in the first half? Both got yellow cards. Where is the preferential treatment? The OP in this thread is the kind of bollocks you normally get from an Allardyce or a Bruce where any adverse result brings a Pavlovian "The ref was shit" response. Any imagined lenience from Mason is about 85th on the list of reasons why we we lost yesterday.

So, they were to enhance his performance after all............. -
Marillion were a guilty pleasure during my late teens, but I stopped listening to them between about 1990 and about 2 years ago. That's when I discovered that some kind soul had put every album uninterrupted on YouTube. This enables me to satisfy my Marillion craving (which usually only happens at weekends at about 3am when I'm shitfaced and my missus is on bricks) via headphones on a laptop at a time when even going for a piss seems like too much effort, let alone rooting through my vinyl collection upstairs.

Those adverts for Vagisil that refer to "your feminine area". You're using a euphemism when your product is called Vagisil? Fuck off.

The Ultimate Beer Thread (No Carling allowed)
Longview1982 replied to ISeeRed's topic in GF - General Forum
I'd never drank it either until it was the beverage de jour whilst on an all-inclusive in Spain a few weeks back. It was fantastic. Even accounting for the hedonistic buzz one gets when no money changes hands when procuring said beer. I prefer it to both Mahou and San Miguel, but would rank it behind Estrella. Does anyone know of an adequate replacement for the much mourned Cains Raisin Beer? I've tried replacing it with Goose Island IPA, which I like, but it's like replacing Kelly Brook with Jacqui Dixon. -
Love these from Jools' show...............

Alberto Moreno seems to have joined the Fabio Aurelio "Pointless Shirt Name Prefix/Suffix Club"..... F.Aurelio? Alberto M? Are they trying to distinguish themselves from other Liverpool squad members like Dave Aurelio or Alberto Smith?

Roy Hodgson, know your role and shut your mouth

Ha ha! Forget about Fabio! -
I think that's what Skrtel did last season with Rodgers and it bought him another year, but I think the Lovren signing and the very public comments about a lack of leadership count against Skrtel in the long term. I like Skrtel and think he's been a superb value signing - a (mostly) high quality centre back who has been a significant contributor to two title challenges and runs to the semis of the Champions League for £6m. Outstanding signing.

Who would win between Sturridge, Agger and Kelly in a "brittle off"? -
I don't believe Rodgers thinks so. It was noticeable that he went with Toure and Agger ahead of him at the start of last season and only injury got Skrtel a place in the starting XI. Skrtel played well in an exposed back line last season, but I still think Rodgers spending big on both Sakho and Lovren shows where he sees the future. Personally, I feel Lovren has the most to prove between all three of them.

Do we have chronic and insurmountable defensive issues?
Longview1982 replied to Pureblood's topic in FF - Football Forum
So, according to your, our two key defensive weaknesses are our vulnerability to through balls in behind our defence and our centre backs dropping too deep? You don't see the contradiction there? I'm not Mignolet's greatest fan by any means, but there were very few of the (many) goals we conceded last season where strikers were running through one-on-one with Mignolet. I don't see how you feel him being "sweeper" would make a material difference. -
Sakho is a very good centre back. He's not of the very highest class and we probably overpaid at the time we bought him, but he's still a very good defender. He most certainly lacks elegance on the ball and in his style of play, but that's no gauge at all of his quality as a defender - indeed, it's the reverse side of the coin where elegance makes it look like you're too casual as the likes of Hansen, Gillespie and Agger were often criticised for.. Injuries and a (correct) choice of gung-ho tactics last season prevented him from properly nailing down a place in the side, but I see him forcing Rodgers having to choose between Skrtel and Lovren as his regular partner before the end of the season.
