I have worked since i was 13 and am now 33 this is the first time i have been unemployed. I currently receive 423 a week between me and the missus in dole money, we also receive 525 euro a month in mortgage interest relief supplement. Mortgage is 1000 a month less the 525 from the social, however if you add in utility bills, grocery shopping for ourselves and the 3 children, transport costs etc it leaves a disposable income at the end of each month of 120 euro or 30 euro a week. I have no qualms about taking money from the social, as far as im concerned if you have worked hard and paid your taxes etc get what you are entitled to until things turn for the better. What pisses me of are the people who you see in the dole que or up at the health board looking for handouts that have never worked a proper days labour in their life.

This was nothing more than a pathetic attempt by hard line republicans to show their disdain for the British establishment and in particular the British armed forces.
