I’d have picked Ox over him if it’s about pressing. He’s picked him in these games before though and it’s worked. I would have went with Thiago myself but I reckon they made a decision of the weekend game or this one for him.

No it’s fake. He was playing as a centre back when he did his fuck ups to be fair to him. Another piece of Southgate genius management to add to the list. I don’t think Southgate has got the tactical ability or balls to get the best out of Trent. He’s more suited to having a traditional full back. This dropping hasn’t come out of the blue for me. Even when Trent was flying in the biggest games in football he was picking Trippier ahead of him. He just doesn’t fancy him.

I’d blame both West Ham goals on Coady. Cluelessly goes charging after Antonio on the first one instead of passing him on and creates the massive hole for Lingard to run into. Then the second one he starts walking leaving Semedo exposed instead of closing the gap. The only thing lingard could do was flick it past Semedo and Coady leaves an acre for him to do it. He realises his mistake and then compounds it going by charging over to the ball and leaving another huge gap that Saiss can’t react to.

I think playing Trent in midfield under Klopp would be an accident waiting to happen. The way we play our full backs is complicated, takes a lot of training and bottle to play as high as they do in and out of possession. You can see Trent struggles with it sometimes but it generally plays to his strengths. Our midfielders on the other hand tend to be more defensive, even the so called number 8’s end up covering for the full backs a lot, well more than the way any other team sets up. I think Trent would be all over the place trying to cover players running off him. He’s good at pressing and I think you would see that but you would also be damaging his main strength which is his crossing. He wouldn’t be in the position to play those balls anywhere near as often.

It was in response to somebody quoting his goal scoring record in the league. His form has been Shite. In some peoples eyes his goal scoring record covers for it whether that’s in games in the FA Cup or CL it doesn’t really matter. The complete collapse in the league was down to the forwards turning to Shite and it includes Salah in that and not the lads playing at the back who have largely been pretty good whoever it has been.
