  1. On the off chance that you know any Evertonians who are off on a late summer holiday but are undecided on a destination, maybe tell them that you can't beat the Canaries this time of year....
  2. Just about to watch the last episode of season 2 of Narcos. The penultimate episode, while not much happened, was a corker for me. Moura is superb as Escobar. It's theatrical licence, but his portrayal actually makes you feel a little bit sorry for Pablo, the Narcos character. Maybe not the real life sociopathic murderer....
  3. Or, has it been considered that he might not have been a US/UK, freedom hating rapscallion and might've instead been a poorly educated and susceptible villager/farmer who was handed a gun and told "fight for us or we'll kill you"? Duress and threat is a huge recruitment tool of folks like the Taleban. Anyway, it's immaterial. The law is clear. It was murder. Simple as that.
  4. He's still not getting it. Bless.
  5. Let's look at the facts. The deceased was injured. He represented no threat to the soldiers. He was picked up by the soldiers and moved/dragged out of the sight of an unmanned UK military reconnaissance camera. Why was this done? He was then reportedly kicked by some soldiers whilst lying on the floor injured. Then, heroic Marine A came over, shot him dead and instantly chirped up that he knew he'd broken the Geneva Convention. Entirely indefensible. He might have been a Taleban fighter who was shooting at them moments earlier. It doesn't matter. Our military shouldn't be dragged down into the same gutter as the Taleban. Higher standards, and all that. Plus, the fact that they've dragged him away, out of site, kicked him and then assassinated him really points more towards a premeditated act of revenge and cold blooded killing, rather than towards a sudden and temporary rush of blood to the head (although this doesn't rule out some sort of cumulative PTSD playing a part). Also, one wonders why they kept a video of it on their laptops? Was it their little souvenir, something they could watch back and have a little chortle about, how they offed one of theirs in cold blood? He's justifiably in prison. The sentence reflects the mitigating factors and horrible situation he was operating in. But, he shouldn't be absolved of all culpability and responsibility altogether, that'd be ludicrous and unjust.
  6. Plus, given the amount of innocents in Guantanamo, when added to the anecdotal evidence that locals were settling tribal and land disputes etc by falsely accusing people of being Taleban, there's a chance he might not have been Taleban at all. Saying that, I haven't really read that much about what the deceased was doing before he was shot. The only thing that matters is that he was restrained and represented no threat to the soldiers. Then he was assassinated.
  7. You. Judging by your last post.
  8. Rossi Cafu Costacurta Baresi Maldini (Diamond midfield) Rijkaard Gullit Boban Kaka/Savicevic Schevchenko/Altafini Van Basten
  9. Kaela Sinclair from M83. Was on Jools Holland the other night. Phwoar.
  10. What about this? A bit of Simply Red? Mane's too tight to mention Oh, Mane,Mane,Mane, Mane, Mane Mane's too tight to mention He can't even handle a tiny erection. Not sure it'll catch on, if I'm being honest.
  11. Ha. I'm just asking the questions that all the great minds and analysts investigating this attack will be asking. To tackle such a serious problem as Islamic terrorism, a serious, multi-faceted approach is needed. Save all the it was a Muslim back slapping to intellectual gorillas like Britain First, Trump et al.
  12. Given the timing of the attack, he could've possibly been motivated by the recent US decision to increase funding to Israel so as to enable them to murder even more of his Muslim brethren. Who knows what motivates people?
  13. Fair point, I wasn't trying to tar all with the same brush. And, to be fair, it's not a job I'd want to do. Getting shot at and shit. But, the old soldiers are heros rhetoric that's constantly forced down our throats is a tad nauseating. We've had no real reasons to be involved in conflict (as opposed to peace keeping missions) since WWII. They were heros. The conflicts we have been involved in since then have largely been about colonialism, illegal regime change and jumping to America's orders. I'd view a conscientious objector in those conflicts as more heroic than an active fighter. We've contributed to fucking up large swathes of the world. And, I can't help but escape the feeling that largely, not all, the military is chock full of angry divvies. Marine A, the Iraqi lad, Baha Moussa, many Iraq abuse claims. Are we just scratching the surface?
  14. And those "heros" who forced that teenage Iraqi lad into a river to punish him for looting, with him subsequently going on to drown, should be disciplined, dismissed and/or imprisoned (if they can show that their actions constitute a criminal offence) too. Bad shithouse rats. The concept of the heroic British soldier fighting with ferocity but fairness died out years ago.
  15. Prodl definitely having a good game. He looks strong. United look brighter in the early stages of the second half. Let's hope it's just a little spurt.
