  1. Mascherano has no business being near the squad IMO, as he lacked quality on the ball. I’d replace him with Didi or Fabinho, and play Gerrard as an AM. Torres was a great player for us, but not quite as good as Suarez, and I wouldn’t play a weird formation to accommodate both, as we could easily field Mane. I’d personally pick Carra before Hyypia, that’s neither here nor there. Thiago has a higher ceiling than Xabi but Xabi probably deserves being in the team for his longevity. I’ve fixed the team for you.
  2. I disagree. The black trimmings on the arms are weirdly shaped and they should have it on the neck as well.
  3. Absolutely awful top. Ridiculous.
  4. Yeah I get that the fans here don’t rate Keita any longer, but Klopp clearly does. He never hesitates to start Naby when he’s fit, and according to reports we’re actively trying to extend his contract.
  5. The confirmation of a “new system” being worked on is pretty exciting IMO. How often we’ll see it obviously will depend on the performance level of of the number 10s e.g., Carvalho, Firmino, but good to see it being considered.
  6. Yeah they’re different interviews to the one posted here I think, but fair call, I take it back.
  7. Was it this press conference? Can’t be from the first game because Hendo, Fab and Thiago all started. https://www.si.com/soccer/liverpool/.amp/match-coverage/watch-jurgen-klopp-post-match-press-conference-aston-villa-1-2-liverpool-premier-league-klopp-provides-fabinho-injury-update-talks-haaland-to-manchester-city The more attacking midfielder, say Bellingham, to eventually replace Hendo on the right side of midfield. Elliott will get plenty of games as a CM, RW or AM in the “new system”. If we’re set on 4-2-3-1, then I’d go for someone even more attacking like Joao Felix, looked real dangerous against us.
  8. Bellingham isn’t actually strong defensively, scores pretty low on the defensive stats; tackles, interceptions, and blocks and very high on goals, assists, dribbles, shots, xG, and xA. He’s not a similar player to Tchouameni at all, as Tchouameni’s defensive stats are elite. https://fbref.com/en/players/57d88cf9/scout/365_euro/Jude-Bellingham-Scouting-Report I don’t recall Klopp supposed complaining about needing misfiled cover for the defensive midfield position, not saying it definitely didn’t happen but just sounds very much unlike Klopp, especially he rates Hendo as a 6. Again, if you really believe that when he said we don’t have a goalscoring mid and have many defensive mids, he was just being coy to the fans, and that he secretly wants a DM instead of a goalscoring mid then fair play to you, rep-worthy even.
  9. With all due respect, you’re being a bit disingenuous there IMO. Klopp mentioned many players (9?) before Morton and didn’t even include him on the original list of options.
  10. They didn’t play with a DM last year, I reckon with De Jong he’d be okay, as from what I recall De Jong is good defensively, played centre half for Ajax.
  11. Bellingham isn’t a DM, he’s only ever played the position 9 times in his career according to Transfermarkt, to put it into context he’s played wide more than three times as often. https://www.transfermarkt.com/jude-bellingham/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/581678/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id= Klopp specifically mentioned the goalscoring midfielder as what’s lacking from our midfield, “Do we want a midfielder who is offensive, 1.95m tall and arrives into the box to head balls in? Do we miss that? OK, apart from that!” Also that we have three players in the squad able to play that DM role, “We have three players in the squad who can easily play as a No.6 - Fabinho, of course, but Hendo and Milly played it fine.” He’s never going to be any more explicit than that, but if your argument is he was being coy and that secretly what we really need is a defensive midfielder then fair play HBenn.
  12. Hehe. He had a bad year but was good for them the year prior. I reckon they need a right back more. Wan-Bissaka is solid enough defensively but he is useless going forward, I’d look at bringing Lamptey or Livramento too.
  13. If they get Frenkie De Jong, Eriksen and a striker, I’m not sure who’s killin it in Europe, say Tammy Abraham then the first team is decent enough IMO, probably still a bit off City and us, but would look like a CL team. 4-3-3 De Gea; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; De Jong, Eriksen, Bruno; Sancho, Rashford, Abraham
  14. Did this interview settle out debate the other day re attacking vs defensive, or do we still need more support?
  15. I can’t recall saying that, and I quoted Klopp referring it as “the new system”. That aspect of the revelation is not really that interesting is it? Happy for you to delve into it further on your own if that interests you.
  16. I agree most of it is not new info, and something that’s been discussed here plenty of times e.g., we have loads of midfielders, he wants to give the younger midfielders (Elliott, Jones and Carvalho) a proper go, and he doesn’t see it as a priority to invest at this point in time. However, I reckon that’s the first time we’ve seen Klopp mention the “new system” in public and to me that’s very exciting as I’ve been a champion of that system for years. It could give a new lease to Bobby’s career with us, to spend his 30s playing his natural position as a number 10, behind a proper striker. That opens up a whole load of options for us in the next transfer window too, for example Joao Felix becomes a real possibility. Exciting times.
  17. You’ve gotta read between the lines.
  18. The bolded parts got me really turned on. https://theathletic.com/3413073/2022/07/11/klopp-liverpool-midfield-signing/?source=user_shared_article “I do not understand,” he says. “People told me about this discussion but the last thing that would have crossed my mind is that we have to do this (sign another midfielder). “No, (we’re not looking to buy), I can say that. I don’t think something will happen in midfield. You never know, if somebody comes to me and says ‘I want to go’… but nobody came to me yet. If that happens, then we have to talk new. But if the situation stays like it is, then tell me why would we? “We can go through it. Where do you want to start? So, Fabinho, (Jordan) Henderson, Thiago, (James) Milner, (Naby) Keita, Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, Fabio Carvalho, (Alex) Oxlade-Chamberlain. Now you tell me what kind of player are we missing?” …. Klopp adds: “I know all these things, that we don’t score enough goals from midfield, but what do we want? This ‘Golden Cow’ that is producing absolutely everything, milk as well! “Do we want a midfielder who is offensive, 1.95m tall and arrives into the box to head balls in? Do we miss that? OK, apart from that! “We have three players in the squad who can easily play as a No 6. Fabinho, of course, but also Hendo and Milly played it fine. “Creativity? If we bring in a player just for that, we immediately make it more difficult for Harvey, Curtis and Fabio. They can all play different positions as well, of course: Curtis can play a line higher and Harvey and Fabio can play there, too. “We can play a different system as well, where we might only need two midfielders, but then all these guys can play as a No 10 in the new system. So where is the need for a midfielder? The day when somebody comes to me and tells me why exactly…”
  19. Looks a bit small for the U21s.
  20. Hmmmm… no Curtis Jones.
  21. I’d like to see the below setup given a go. 4-2-3-1 Kelleher; Gomez, Konate, Matip, Milner; Henderson, Thiago; Elliott, Carvalho, Diaz; Firmino
  22. They’re trolling surely. He’s the biggest snide in the league after Richarlison. Can’t wait til he fucks off.
  23. I’d like to see Southgate attempt 3-4-2-1 with Trent as a right wing back in front of James. Pope; James, Stones, Gomez; Trent, Rice, Phillips, Saka; Bowen, Foden; Kane
