There are few left wingers better than Riera. At the star of 07-08 Real nearly bid 20mil for him, he is rated highly in spain, and he can easily get to Barca or Real's squad. I can see him having a great season. Last season was his first in England, nothing is wrong with needing time to adapt.

I think Vidic is exposed against decent strikers, not with Rio's absence. Rio raises his game against good players, but usually found lacking when Vidic is not around to cover his back. To be fair to both, they do complement each other very well.

I do not understand the belief that 4-4-2 was dying. Aaprt from Chelsea and us, all british team employed it a lot the last 5 years or so. Even us, we started plating 4-2-3-1 about 2 years ago.

I think people don't realize how close we went last season, we needed 4 points to win the league, we don't need large overhaul's like summer 07 and 08, when we bought Torres,Yossi etc. Maybe a Johnson Overlap or an Aquilani thundershot will be enough to get us two wins and the league,. Hypothetical, but very realistic.

Maybe I was wrong saying Rafa is 100% happy. What I meant is there is no really big improvement on the current squad that are reasonable targets.

They can be improved, of course, but maybe he thinks the current players will improve as well. If we buy a winger, then one of the current wingers will leave, but I really don't know which one should leave, Kuyt and Yossi have proven their worth, while Riera deserves a second go at the premier league, while Babel seemed more hungry in pre-season. I think people underestimate the depth of our squad, especially in attack.

I think Rafa is 100% happy with the current squad. He signed a new contract, he got his key players to sign new contracts, he feels the only needed acquisition was Johnson, and I agree. (If Alonso stayed, we would not ahev bought Aquaman). I'm tusting Rafa on this one, that is what he is payed to do.

What's the point bringing in a cheap winger. Very few can displace our current crop and all of them are at a top club. If we buy a class winger, we would be selling one of our current crop. Before pre-season iI thought Babel might go and maybe bring someone like Suarez or Lavezzi, but I'm willing to give him a chance. I really don't think we need more wingers, I think our attacking play would improve a lot with Johnson and Aquilani, they will make us more fluid and mobile, which might be vital to break park the bus teams.

OK, Barca. The point I'm trying to make is that Aquilani will definately make us more attacking, He loves to get into the box, and he is very mobile. On paper, we will have Aquilani partnering Mascherano and Gerrard in attack with Torres, but Gerrard and Aquilani can swap positions or play along the same line. In reality, our formation with Aquilani can differ from 4-1-4-1,4-3-3 or simply 4-2-3-1. Let's just hope his injuries are sorted.

I think our style and formation will change when waterboy arrives. Masch Gerrard Aquilani Kuyt Babel Torres This is more similiar to Barce i say. Masch will sit and protect the defence. Stevie and Aquilani will play Xavi/Iniesta kind of position. I'm not saying we'll be playing exactly like Barce, just similar formation. I think Aquilani might improves us bigtime.

I don't think players think about money in every move they consider, of course there is the a lot of mercinaries around and their numbers have risen a lot recently(Toure, Ade).

I don't agree. Kalou might be a little better than Babel, Riera, based on the last 2 seasons, is at least as good as malouda, while after all of cole's injuries, I would say Dirk and Yossi, based on form, are now better. The only decent winger I would take from Chelsea is J. Cole. -

Only Barcelona have a better central midfield than us. In terms of wingers and attacking midfielders, I would say Barca, Real have better individuals. We have one of the best squads in the world, that's for sure. -

Voronin - is not the next shevchenko. Dossena - With Aurelio's injuries, he could be a good option down the left, in defence or midfield. Degen - He played 2 competitive games for Liverpool. Babel - The boy got Talent, he just needs lessons from Dirk and some support and he can be a more than decent player, definately our Level. Ngog - Are you serious? He's great, well, will be. If you got these conclusions out of today's game, then Torres is utter crap.

I had doubts about how Rafa treats youngsters and uses tehem, but after INsua's progress, Rafa should know what's best. Hammill is talented, but you need more.
