  1. Are you sugesting Blackburns title win almost 20 years ago was won in the modern game? I'll add the necessary 'I love Kenny' to avoid any criticism from the sensitive variety.
  2. What I really want to know is, Mr Moran, what is your IQ? You come across as "very superior", "gifted" or "moderately gifted", depending on the post. I'd hazard a guess that you're about a 135.
  3. Because they don't like what he says on Talksport.
  4. I miss his sixty yard cultured hoofs. I miss his lack of pace. I miss his ability to hold the line ten yards deeper than it needs to be. He has his worth but his absence is not the reason we are shite.
  5. Cringe. As if Torres reads TLW. At the minute, every player on the pitch bar Gerrard and Reina are beneath him. At the minute, we, as a club are beneath him. He's a great striker but he can't beat 11 mean and score all the time. He's probably thinking about the last time he had more than 2 through balls played to him in a game. No service = No performance.
  6. First off, I'd like to apologise for the insults in my opening post. I was offended by the tone of your reply to me. I particularly didn't like the suggestion I was spoonfed by the media after reading one of my posts. You appeared arrogant, ignorant and a bit of a jumped up bellend. After reading your post, I was obviously wrong. Very good and well though out post mate. Hard to disagree with any of it. Yes, football is rotten. Yes, cash is king but breaking the trend IS possible.....over time. It needs careful planning over a sustained period of time. Buying and selling in the transfer market. Keeping a fresh, talented and hungry squad..Building on improving the squad over every summer. Over time, producing your own talend from the academy. You also need a huge slice of luck...(see Man Utd's crop of Becham/Nevilles/Giggs/Scholes etc). I think Spurs are doing a great job. They have built a very capable squad over a number of years by being clever in the transfer market. They have a level of depth I think all of the 'rich' clubs would be more than happy with. Their achilles heal is their manager. He will never have the nous or ability to win the league. Sometimes you have to take an apparent step backwards to move forwards. See Spurs selling Berbatov and bringing in Modric, Defoe, Pavlychenko, Crouch, Palacios and Van Der Vaart. Not all transfers are successful. Some people place too much emphasis on 'flops'. If the players brought in are not doing the job, you get rid, sharpish getting as much back as possible. The transfer market is a lottery. The more you play, the more chance you have of success. Malbranque. Boateng and Bent are all examples of taking a hit and getting rid. You win some you lose some. You dont obsess the pros and cons. Allowing a manager time to build is essential. That manager has to be young, driven, talented, astute and jungry. In the process of building a team, on a limited budget budget, who has to compete on 2/3 different fronts every season with clubs who can spend basically, whatever they want on players, takes time. Unfortunately the modern fan doesnt have the patience to wait, especially when your most hated rivals have been a trophy winning juggernaut and winning and dominating, time is not something some fans are willing to give. See our last manager as an example of sorts. Had it not been for the horrific ownership problems we've encountered, I am convinced we would have been champions. With an extra bit of direction and willingness to invest in the team we would never be in the position we now see ourselves with a sitting duck of a dinosaur as manager of a squad who seems unable to string a few good games together. We're winning just about enough and at the right times for Roy Hodgson to stay in a job. But we are playing stoneage tactics. No guile. Were as rigid as one of the socks that sits under my bed. The football is horrible....that coupled with a lack of reuslts has seen us become worse that mediocre. Worse than average. We are shit. Make no mistake about it. I'm digressing majorly away from the point I was going to make. Success can be obtained playing tight, defensive and organised football. See Greece in 2004. Success can be obtained playing a clever, controled, organised....explosive brand of football. See Rafa's Valencia....us for chunks of the 2008/09 season. I take great pleasure in watching that controlled yet entertaining and explosive type of football. Its not always exciting or pretty on the eye....but its effective whilst not effective like Bolton/Stoke type of 'numbers game' effective. In an ideal world, we'd play beautiful expansive free flowing football whilst smacking every team who dares play us. But its not an ideal world. Very far from it at the minute. If Fenway are serious about improving Liverpool, it should be a project. Its not going to be a quick fix. The owners need to pick a man, back him to the hilt and improve year on year. Fuck I am talking shite now, maybe I always have been but I wholly disagree with your initial comments about the preferring attacking football to winning.
  7. The very fact City would be willing to let him join us tells you all you need to know about where the lad is heading. Heaps of ability but thought he was 'bigtime' after making 5 appearences. Didnt have the charachter to see himself through a rotten run of injuries....really unlucky. The least he could of done was keep his weight down. He ballooned. Not really the conduct of a professional. He had his chance.....and he probably has people in his ear telling him how lucky he is to be in the position he is but he's fucked it. If he is serious about getting his career back on track he should go to one of the championships promotion hopefuls and start from there. Adam Johnson on the other hand could be a good player. If he was a bit more intelligent he would already be a top player. Hasn't been consistant enough to get many games with City which shouldn't really be a problem for someone with his 'ability'. Not convinced by neither Johnson Should be aiming for someone younger
  8. hahaha, I pray you are on a wind up. I dont think the term 'boltonesque' has ever been used in a positive context. Can't get my head around the valiant losers. Win. At all costs. If we play nice football.....its a bonus. If not.....no big deal.
  9. People would actually want Carra as boss? Having a flair for football trivia doesnt exactly mean you'll be a good manager. Usually 'thinkers' end up managers. Is Carra a 'thinker'? Not so sure. He has yet to understand the concept of keeping possession. Thats before we get into the "10 yard pass....keep possession", "60 yard punt...give the ball to their keeper", conundrum. So....er...yeah. If Bob, Joe, Roy or Kenny can do it...why not Carra.
  10. I meant to add the word "recently". Hows that for perspective, eh?
