  1. Sounded ominous when the commentator mentioned they were suspected of time wasting last week. Expect much rolling around holding amputated limbs this half. And on the Sheff Utd/Wimbledon comparisons, we always seem to struggle against that type of opposition for some reason, can’t understand why, we just do. Frustrating.
  2. Seems like they’re playing with that “promoted team bounce”, think Sheffield Utd a couple of seasons ago and several sides over the years. Start off like a house on fire then, generally, fall away as they get worked out over the season. If they go toe to toe with us, they should regret it, better teams have tried and failed spectacularly.
  3. Tyler Morton looks a very tidy player, appreciate it’s Norwich but still, good half from him.
  4. He’s improved at City, but is one of the poorest finishers in the Premier League, and before anyone says look at the goals he scores, look at the sitters he regularly misses.
  5. As we don’t tend to take City’s cup too seriously these days, I would expect Norwich to want this a bit more than us. They, and their manager, badly need a win, any win, and so it wouldn’t surprise me if they see this as a potential morale booster and play a strong side. They are due a win after having lost all five league games this season, and god knows how many the last time they were in the PL. Could go to penalties.
  6. They’ll be ready for action after their difficult game against Wycombe tomorrow. Chelsea, PSG then us, that’ll stretch their limited squad though I have to admit.
  7. Saint & Greavsie was always a favourite of mine on Saturday lunchtime. Great striker. Sad news.
  8. Burnley have seemingly taken this new “freedom” to be more robust literally, and appear to be the new Stoke when it comes to being everyone’s favourite team to criticise. Looking at the table after 5 games and it doesn’t seem to be giving them any advantage in terms of points won though. I think this is because their diving shithouses aren’t winning the free kicks or penalties that lead to the dead ball situations they rely on to gain points in games where they are generally being outplayed. It may continue this way, it might not, only time will tell. There is a simple argument though, that allowing more “physicality” to go unpunished will lead to more injuries, (not all season ending or with significant time out, probably more niggling) and then the sides with larger squads will likely be able to gain an advantage due to them being able to cover those absences without serious drop off. This is where we could fall foul, literally, as we all know that we don’t have the depth of squad that others do. I say could fall foul, we might not pick up any injuries, again only time will tell. The other thing that has to be taken into account is how our game will fare in the eyes of continental referees, if our players get used to “leaving a foot in” or other more excessive challenges, when it comes to playing in European competition. There has to be consistency across all facets of the controlling aspects of the games for it to be fair and accurate, not just in England.
  9. It’s ok of him to threaten to walk, he’ll go if they fail in the CL this season anyway.
  10. Just been looking on the BBC website regarding Guardiola’s comments, he’s commented on this a number of times now, particularly regarding cup games. The city supporters group have seen their arse because they contend the ground is well attended all the time, and it can be difficult getting there on a Wednesday at 8pm (boo hoo!). So presumably Guardiola has sight problems because he’s seeing empty seats when they’re full?? The actual bums on seats to number reported as being there is a figure that hasn’t been declared I see, after all, if your ground is full every game, you can justify spending more to satisfy FFP regulations I presume?
  11. “We’re not really here” The only true thing that comes out of their mouths.
  12. Disappointing thing about Divock last night was that he was up front, yet didn’t worry their goalkeeper unduly. General play was decent with the pass to Salah excellent, but he doesn’t do it often enough to be a threat, which is a pity as he has shown he can be dangerous enough times in the past. I actually think he has a really good shot on him and does this from a small back lift, he should be shooting more often when he gets on. Thought it was telling that Klopp said last night that “ he had the chance to go to France” which doesn’t augur well for his future here.
  13. Spent 4 hours waiting from 13:30 yesterday to “chat” to someone. Milan ticket not in my wallet because I’d somehow managed to scan a code for Google pay (which I don’t have on my iPhone) instead of Apple Pay. Accidental, but my fault. Eventually got through and asked the operator to reset my NFC pass so I could download the correct one. For 30 minutes I kept getting asked had I downloaded the NFC pass. I answered repeatedly I had but it was likely the wrong one. Got asked to try again, told the op I keep getting a “Forbidden…….” notice. Eventually the op asked me my ST number, address and DOB and reset my NFC pass. I logged off my account and back on again and this time it worked. That was at 18:06. I feel sorry for the operators as they’re at the pointy end of this, but when I got to the ground and eventually got to the gate, I said to the Head Steward there “ Not good this, is it mate?” he said “ It’s horrendous and has been since it was brought in. But it isn’t the Clubs fault, it’s the Premier League and UEFA who want this brought in. Let’s be honest, the club wouldn’t spend money on it if they didn’t have to.”!!!!!
  14. Dutch Engineer turned up at our work today. He’d flown in to Manchester yesterday. Before he left Holland he checked us out for tickets as he knew we were playing Milan. No chance he said. Landed in Manchester, asked in his hotel about City Tickets, got one for £30 and went last night. “Quiet” was how he described it.
  15. The Leeds player tackled from behind Elliot, trying to hook the ball away I suspect, but his trailing leg tangled with Elliot’s and his weight twisted the kid around while pinning his ankle, hence the dislocation. You’d like to think that injury wasn’t in Struijk’s head as he made the challenge, but it was still a reckless challenge where he stood little chance of winning the ball, so a red was correct and should have been even without the injury. What’s with the sky prick interviewing Klopp after the game? He’s tried to rile him on a few occasions now. Klopp was definitely in turmoil when that sky interviewer poked at him for a reaction, and he did really well not to bite, but it won’t be the last we hear from him I suspect on this new “freedom” to tackle and I hope that the club let sky know, in no uncertain terms, that if they continue with their confrontational and inflammatory attempts to get a reaction from Klopp then they’ll be talking to the physio from now and can fuck off.
  16. It’d be brilliant if Newcastle beat them, but sadly, I expect him to score and likely with a penalty given for fuck all in the last 5 minutes to win the game. We should have put our foot on their throat when Ferguson left and kept it there.
  17. Tough ask, but here goes:- Pink Floyd - Coming Back To Life Robbie Robertson - Somewhere Down The Crazy River Propaganda - Duel You’d get a different three on another day probably, very much as the mood takes.
  18. Sturridge was a very good striker, and scored some fabulous goals for us, before something in his head, and other parts of his body, changed/broke and that meant he was rarely deemed fit enough to play afterwards. His partnership with Luis Suarez was electric but too short lived. It’s a crying shame he didn’t have more of a career than he has, but his best days are gone, and even if he were to play on a pay per game basis, I doubt he’d add to the squad we have currently, sadly.
