  1. Churlish it might be, but boy, do we seem to be doing things the hard way these days? We’ve won 3-1 away yet, somehow, it still feels a bit disappointing? Probably four goals better than these and it was a stroll in the first half, and even though they came more into it in the second half, it was our sloppiness that got them a goal back and our sloppiness that allowed them to stay in with a sniff until the end. We’ll surely be more focussed on Sunday against City, and we’ll have to be to get the result we want I think.
  2. Should’ve been 4 up at half time, to be fair they’ve rolled up their sleeves this half and got back into it, but only because we’ve been dogshit. There’s still time for us to get at least one more and we should. Edit: We have!
  3. Fucking dire this half. Happening too much when we’ve been bossing games we step off it then struggle. No need.
  4. That’s true and I’ve been one of them, but the truth of it is that more and more the seriously monied clubs have bought their way to the top in all of the leagues in Europe and dominate them most of the time. The exceptions are few, but we have been one (even though we’re hardly skint) and united’s relative demise has been fun to watch, but their owners can and will carry on buying managers and players until they get CL football as a minimum every season, which will mean that they, City and possibly Newcastle in the future will be occupying three of the four places that the PL currently qualify for. We’re all enjoying the ride that FSG and Klopp have been giving to us and hope it goes on for several seasons yet, however from a financial capacity, we’re on a par with Arsenal, Tottenham and perhaps Chelsea now, not the previously mentioned three. I’m really trying to be realistic rather than a doom merchant, but I seriously don’t see United scrabbling around again for nearly 30 years until their next title given their financial clout.
  5. I wouldn’t ever say United we’re not going to be a threat. Unlike most of the other top four contenders, they have the money to keep throwing at their problem until they get it right. Never underestimate the power of the Dark Side.
  6. Swiss Ramble @SwissRamble · 1h #EFC directors’ remuneration increased from £3.5m to £4.2m with the highest paid director rising 65% from £1.2m to £2.0m. Incredibly, this was 4th highest in the Premier League, which begs the question: just how much would they be paid if they actually did a good job? This bit made me smile, the only thing that is going up is the directors money and four corners of the new ground.
  7. “I always felt with Joe there’s a dopey, complacent snafu around the corner. Not of a Traore standard, of course, more of an “I’m too sexy for my shirt” vibe. Even with those mutton chops. You’re not Wolverine, mate……“ Happened to a couple of them yesterday I thought, poor passing, concentration not total, but still enough to beat the opposition, pretty much in second gear. Just don’t make a habit of it please.
  8. Maybe nobody appealed from our side because they are so used to getting fuck all when they do?
  9. The Watford player “marking” Jota never looks where the ball is, all he does is block, grab then haul Jota to the ground. Never mind awarding a penalty, he should have been sent off for assaulting Jota as well. Let’s see the Owl, The Athletic, Dean Ashton or anyone else justify not giving a penalty for similar incidents going forward, there’ll be fucking silence I’ll bet. But we’re now used to having such “experts” give fair and equitable opinions aren’t we.
  10. Even if Burnley beat them, they would still be a point ahead, albeit on the same number of games. Looking at the remaining fixtures for both teams, I could see Burnley grinding 6 points out of their games possibly 8, but on current form, I really can’t see Everton getting any more than 6 points maximum. Could go down to the last game of the season Burnley home to Newcastle, Everton away to Arsenal. So on the day we potentially win the League title against Wolves, Everton could be relegated by Arsenal. Sadly, things like that rarely happen.
  11. With Collina brought out of retirement for old times sake. West Ham for me, preferably with them needing to get something from the City game on the 15th May so that they don’t roll over as most teams seem to for City.
  12. Noticed lots of head shaking from him today, pretty much shackled by average defenders. Personally, after the week he’s had, I’d have been tempted to leave him on until the end of the game rather than sub him for the player who was instrumental in blowing his World Cup dream apart, but if he’s going to be used against Benfica and City then taking him off was understandable. Can’t disagree he’s been “dulled” since the AFCON tournament and it won’t have helped he went through it again this week, maybe rest him against Benfica and bring him back for the City game?
  13. Goes back to that quarter final in 2019(?) when Guardiola was sent off at half time. You could see then that Klopp had his number when it comes to getting into his head, no manager in his right mind behaves like he did with his players looking on, they could see he’d bottled it and they did nothing in that second half. Then there was that interview the other week where he called us a pain in the ass because we’re always there, letting his true feelings out I think. My guess is that his insecurity spreads down to some of his players, particularly when he makes those odd tactical changes from time to time, when the pressure is on, and that if he had a handle on things, Silva and Laporte and the rest of their players would have been told to say nothing, particularly to the media.
  14. Tough time fella. Take care of your family, and don’t forget yourself. We’ll be here waiting.
  15. I’m guessing BRB might have photographic evidence of some or all of the Premier League Executive for this load of crap to be brushed to one side.
  16. One of the Orginals are the Ev. Founders I tells yer! Been in the top league longer than anyone else and they deserve, DESERVE, to be in the top league and at the top table…..and ifitadnerbinfer………
  17. It’s all “alleged”, or “sources close to” stuff. And then he’s seen walking through an airport unscathed. The symptoms are those similar to if he’d have drunk dodgy vodka. More likely the explanation.
  18. Surely not?? I would never accuse Abramovich of looking for the sympathy vote.
  19. What an unfortunate situation, Abramovich poisoned at the peace talks, apparently not enough to hurt or kill him though, nothing suspicious in this at all though, hey?
  20. I can only imagine what my Mum would say had I said that on Mothers Day to her after binning her off for a Fantasy Mum who was much younger and prettier but who hadn’t actually turned up yet after years of promises. Unless of course, secretly, I knew she wasn’t ever going to turn up and I wanted my Old Mum to remain in my life and for my family to be convinced she was, after all, the best option.
  21. There have been multiple complaints about semi-finals being played at Wembley since the FA decreed they should take place there. None have been moved. This one wasn’t ever going to be moved either no matter how sensible it might be, because the FA have steadfastly shown since Wembley has been rebuilt, that they want to maximise profits and keeping the semi-finals there won’t affect their takings because fans will find a way to get there, particularly Liverpool fans, and at any time, on any date, as has been proved previously in any big game we play. We are victims of our own passion. Not sure the City end will be full however.
  22. Forest have always been small time, bar for those few years when Clough dragged them into the limelight. I like it that we need a rest as much as the players, valid point, we’ll made Steve!
  23. Yesterday’s rotation shouldn’t have mattered. We were just sloppy. Thankfully, we were sloppy against a team that weren’t good enough to capitalise. We’ve had the loss against Inter, which ultimately didn’t matter, and we were unlucky in that game. What this demonstrates is, you can be sloppy and still win, you can be dominant and yet lose, fine margins indeed, but with the quality of teams coming up, we can’t be that sloppy again. All I want to see is 100% effort and that we do our best in every game, whoever is picked. After that you can’t ask for much more, if a referee gets a decision wrong, if an opponent has a missing shot deflected in, that’s just how it goes and it is out of your control. I have 100% faith in Klopp and the boys trying their level best, I don’t expect any less, so if them giving 100% gets us four trophies or just the one, so be it. As has been said, we’re playing against teams with odds stacked in their favour and still we’re worrying them more than they worry us. This is a great team and manager, perhaps, arguably, the best we’ve had. The Reds aren’t just coming up the hill boys, they’re already at the summit and ready to climb the flagpole at the top.
