I disagree with Klopp saying we don't buy players just because others do. If all of your rivals are buying/strengthening, it forces your hand to an extent. One of the issues this summer seems to specialise in, is portraying deals as "agreed". This applies to most clubs- bar Everton, who, in fairness to them, are getting theirs over the line with minimum fuss.

The wording of the comments from Lepzig saying they wont be "budged" yesterday was telling. If we had actually contacted them and made an official bid, they could officially reject it. All they did yesterday was comment on speculation. They only way to really test the resolve is to table an offer.

Where an actual decent striker would help is when our attempt at 1000mph mega press doesn't work in the first 20mins. We very quickly run out steam and ideas. Unless Coutinho is on song and rescuing us with 30 yard screamers we tend to go missing, particulaly the midfield where we lack a leader. And as we dont actually have a forward playing we just start to ponderously try and "work" it forward while Klopp has a go at the Kop. Until there are 10mins left, then we chuck on any academy/injured/makeshift forward we can find with the view that we actually have to score a goal very soon or we might not win
