I think the problem is we are trying to shoehorn in too much creativity into our midfield. 18-19 & 19-20 our midfield was extremely efficient and hard working, when the ball came out the won it and we contained teams and pinned them to their 3rd mainly by playing sideways passing keeping possession until the right time. These more creative players in midfield don't do the donkey work in covering the fullbacks on the same way meaning there is always an out ball and all you need is some jabroni with pace to hurt us on the counter. I would like us to sign a more robust midfielder who is happy to do the covering work and has a bit of pace to cover counter attacks. Who that player is I dont know but then I'm not paid to find these players, that's for the transfer committee. Edit. I would preferably like this player to be good at football.

Not surprising no but this seems more to be about Mane and his drop in form over the last year, there will always be criticism of the owners as they will never do enough for what the fans want but this hasn't been the usual FSG bashing that would normally happen after a loss.

Well my point still stands, we create enough to pretty much every game we play so creating chances is not the problem. Finishing them is though. With Mane having been out of sorts for 15 months Firmino over 2 years and even Salah not firing on all cylinders thats where our problems lie. This is all down to the fact we don't rotate the forwards enough due to lack of numbers and/or quality backups.

Its really not, we managed 21 shots last night, only 4 of them were on target and 2 of them were from the penalty. At this level its fine margins that are the difference between great and exceptional, I just think Mane has slipped down to great since he had covid. The question now is if he can regain those fine margins to take him back to that level.

That would be great but we also needed reinforces over the summer for mid and fwd positions and even after selling more than we brought in we didn't so that should tell you all you need to know about additional reinforcements.

What if we had signed a cb a couple of levels lower than Konate, used up our transfer budget and still only finished 4th. We can all say what might have been but we don't know for sure what would have happened.
