  1. I'm usually not negative towards people on here, but I'm afraid I have to be on this occasion. What the fuck?? We've just played our first game of the season, what kind of a thread/poll is that to be throwing up? It's like the kind of crap you'd see on Sky or on the back pages of some of Murdock's rags. We're Liverpool fans, we're supposed to be above this sort of shite. We're not Newcastle, we're not Man City, we're not Aston Villa...We're Liverpool Football Club! Look at the name of the bloody Web-site 'The Liverpool Way', crap threads like this do not fall within the parameters which encompass what this phrase should stand for. I'm not having a go at you personally, I just think that this is one of the worst threads up here in awhile...
  2. 1. Enrique - Very solid first game. was one of the few positives from a dire 2nd half 2. Carra - Very solid at the back as per usual 3. Suarez - Didn't look 100% match sharp, but took his goal very well and worked his socks off.
  3. Anyone have a link for a stream of the fight?
  4. Yea that's a very fair point, they built it up way too much beforehand unfortunately. I have to say, I really didn't like Heavy Rain though, I would definitely prefer LA Noire to that.
  5. Any word on when this is coming out? I'm a bit disappointed with LA Noire, it has a lot of good elements, but I think it's all a little too structured. This in my opinion holds the game back and means that it can become quite repetitive at times. Not as bad a game as some are saying mind you...
  6. 1. Suarez - Looks to be a bargain at 24m already, world class performance again by El Pistplero 2. Maxi - Worked hard, finished his first two well and his third speaks for itself! 3. Lucas - Worked his socks off again, broke up play well and some good distribution. This guys needs a song too! Spearing, Kuyt, Johnson and Carra were all in the mix for the top three too.
  7. I totally agree with these sentiments, it's always sad to see a great retire, but some of the young fighters coming through are immensely talented, it definitely bodes well for the future of the sport. I think the UFC are going to have to look at a few small rule changes too. The way rounds are scored needs to be addressed and I also think that knees to the head of a grounded opponent should be looked at, Joe Rogan mentions this constantly and I'd tend to agree with him. Tonight should be an exciting one, it's an excellent card all round.
  8. I think Fanning is one of the most pro Liverpool writers in the media, he actually 'get' this club. From the Sunday Indo...Dalglish impact proves he's only man for the job - Soccer, Sport - Independent.ie
  9. 1. Kuyt - worked his socks off as per usual...and I think he may have scored a few too! 2. Suarez - This guy is world class, great performance again today! 3. Raul - Another great performance by the bald one!
  10. 1. Raul - Always looking for a good pass and tried to do positive things with the ball 2. Wilson - Solid on the left, looks to be a good option, much like Kelly on the right (not quite as good as Kelly yet mind you) 3. Soto - Because he put in another tireless and dogged display. If Kelly hadn't gone off at half time he'd almost certainly be in the top 3, probably our best player in the first half.
  11. Just finished 'The Burning Shore' by Wilbur Smith, really good book and well worth a read. Also, I'm not sure if anybody mentioned 'The Life of Pi', but I think it's one of the best books I've ever read. Apparently a movie is being made of it, hard to see how that'll work out!
  12. 1. Suarez - Our best player by a country mile, his movement, vision and ability are fantastic. I think we have a world class player here. 2. Carragher - He was pretty solid at the back, made some good tackles. Unfortunately his distribution was poor. 3. Raul - Scored another very good goal and showed a few nice touches. No other player played near well enough to be considered really. Edit: In fairness Kelly also did well, my last comment may be harsh in relation to Kelly, but not the rest.
  13. 1. Kuyt - Worked his socks off and helped to defend from the front 2. Carra - Solid as a rock at the back, and his distribution was very good too. 3. Raul - Very good game all round topped off by another great goal!
  14. Been saying this since the last European Championships, he's a top, top class player!
  15. Maybe he will be, but he's not going to be playing week in week out for the next five years!
  16. Firstly I disagree with you, I think we have improved the squad. We now have two very good options up front rather than just one. We also still have Ngog, who I rate. More importantly though, this was the January transfer window. You don't re-build a squad in this window, you try to make one or two top class signings, which hopefully we have done. It's in the summer when we really need to re-build. I truely believe that come the summer we will see a lot of the deadwood cleared out, and there will be substantial investment in quality players. I like the strategy of trying to sign players under 25 also, as I feel this should give us a good squad going forward. I'm also quite hopeful that some of our exciting young players will keep developing and can be brought in to the squad as 'squad players', as opposed to going out spending 4m-5m on very average squad players. I think this is the way forward and from what I've seen so far I think that FSG see this as being the way forward too, and with Kenny as manager the sky's the limit as to what we can achieve. I think we as the fans need to have a positive outlook and support the club, it's owners and most improtantly the team going forward.
  17. I for one am very happy with how the club went about their business the past few days. They stood firm on what they wanted for Torres, in the past we would probably have crumbled at the 35m offer and sold him at that price. Yes we have over-paid for Andy Carroll, he's not worth 35m now. But give him a season or so with The King coaching him and we'll see then. AT the end of the day he's very young and is far from the finished product. He has the potential to be as good if not a better striker than Drogba in his prime. Sometimes you have to overpay to get the target you really want. For too long we didn't pay over the odds for our first choice target (Vidic and Dani Alvez come to mind) and ended up with our second or third choices, hence we have so many poor squad players. Last but not least, the Saurez deal was pretty much done and dusted before the whole Torres thing took off, so this says to me that they were happy to spend the 22m on Saurez long before they knew that they'd be getting 50m in for Torres. So I wouldn't in the least be worried about Net spends. I think we could have a very interesting summer coming up.
  18. I have to say that Nando has let himself down badly the last few days. I'm very disappointed in him, I though he had more loyality to the club and to us the fans who loved him. I have great memories of him as a player, but unfortunately they've been badly soured over the past few days. That being said, I think the club have handled this extremely well. They stood firm on what they wanted for him and have moved very quickly to get a replacement in. Fair play. I do think Carroll is way overpriced, but somebody on here made the point that sometimes you have to pay over the odds to get the player you want rather than spending less but ending up with your second or third choice, and in fairness I think that this is a good thing to see, we wanted carroll, so we went out and got carroll! As the King said, nobody is bigger than the club. I really feel that in years to come Nando will look back on this move and seriously regret it, much like how that rat Owen must regret leaving and missing out on Istanbul! You'll Never Walk Alone!
  19. I'd have to say I'd be happy with that line up for the rest of the season. If we could get a top class (Dominant) centre back, a left back and top class right winger with pace and skill in the summer then we'd look very good indeed.
  20. 1. Raul - A top class performance all round, topped off with a great goal. 2. Torres - Two goal well finished off, and showed a lot of heart 3. Kuyt - Worked his sockes off, if he had a yard more pace he would've scored today.
  21. A great player, a great professional and a real legend...I think he should be our captain!
  22. I posted on another thread a couple of weeks ago about our problems at the back, can't find it now of course but this is the general gist of it... I think we need to sell both Agger and Skrtel, for different reasons. I remember saying to myself about two years ago that Agger and Skrtel were two for the future, that in two years time they could be a great pairing. Unfortunately the two years have passed and they are far from a great pairing. Neither have progressed as players. Both still make the same mistakes and Agger spends too much time injured. I think we should sell both of them. We need to sign a quick CB who can dominate in the air and then work on bringing Wilson and Ayala through. Carra and Soto should be used with the two youngsters in a rotation. If Wilson or Ayala beging to improve and become more comfortable with playing at this level, then Carra and particularly Soto will be used less and less. In relation to the overall debate about Carra. I think he was a great centre half and a fantastic servant to the club, in his day he'd rank up there with anybody. Unfortunately he is not the player he was. He is still a good centre half, there's no doubting that, and I think he organises things well at the back at times. It's clear for all to see that he loves the club and he always leaves everything out on the field. However, even the most blinkered observers would have to admit his lack of pace at the back is really begining to show and his distribution of the ball is absolutely woeful, he spends most of his time hoofing the ball aimlessly down the field. If we want to move forward and challenge for league titles and in cup competitions, then we have to replace Carra. I think he'd still be well worth his place in the squad as both a leader and as a solid option at the back for certain games, but I don't think we can have a situation where he's playing week in, week out...not anymore anyway.
  23. 1. Kelly - Has to stay in the team after another very solid performance 2. Pepe - Solid as always, nearly saved the peno, made some good saves. 3. Aurelio - An all round good performance, is head and shoulders above Konchesky.
  24. Went to see them in the 02 in Dublin last Sunday night, absolutely amazing, up there in my top 3 gigs I think. Vampire Weekend were brilliant too, but Arcade Fire were just on another level!
