1. I think your'e wrong there. The last time the position was available after Rafa, McLeish, Pardew, Curbishley, Hodgson were the main names being mentioned at the time (pre Kenny throwing his hat in the ring). Rijkaard was the only real star name I can remember. I think the field of candidates actually impressive football people. They're all impressive coaches in their own right, and when compared to where they are in their career. Mostly self-taught thinkers too; the kind you'd invite to dinner for a footy chat.
2. I did not know he was hired by Mourinho. I did not know that. Swansea manager Brendan Rodgers aims to convert long-ball believers - Telegraph Good read that.
3. It's argued that Liverpool are not that far away from competing becasue, on our day, we can beat anyone - cue pointing out scalps from Utd, City, Arsenal and Chelsea games as proof. Then same persons claim that Martinez is a relegation-battle manager. But wait, haven't Wigan - basically a championship side that have maybe two 'decent' players, and no fans - claimed big scalps too? Just sayin. If you're going to only consider managers with high win%, who above us in the table would you consider on that basis. I bet none. If a manger already has a high win%, he's already employed at a decent club, and we've missed the boat. All this of course discounts manager whom are free agents, but I just wanted to make the piont.
4. In other news, Whoopi Goldberg has distanced herself from another beauty pageant. Thought of the day: Why do spackers get to name threads?
5. I reckon some of it depended on what Kenny brought to that meeting.
6. I just remembered - I ordered the new shirt with KENNY 7 on back. LOL!
7. Newstalk Media Player - Graham Taylor talkning sense. Talking about England now. Forget it so!
8. Well said. Whether we like it or not, 'compassion fatigue' exists with non-Kopites. Battles should be chosen well, and this ain't a good choice. There is also the the 'Judean People's Front' tag that can aimed at the different groups. They all need good advice on PR, hence, LFC can be the last ones to turn to on that.
9. I remember very clearly that Alonso seemed uninterested back then before our 86-pointer season. Alonso had a fairly pants season by his standards in 07-08, and as has been said before, no-one snapped him up at £14m, (mooted figure at the time) which is a perfect barometer of how he was perceived. Juve had been linked for ages, and then they got Christian Poulsen instead (are you chewing gum? Bin. Now) Alonso in that 07-08 season wasn't showing for the ball anything like, a) he should have, or b) like he did the following season in 08-09. Barry was in a rich vein of form back then, scoring a lot of goals, and had very dynamic movement; I'd say like a cross between Gerard and Alonso. And yes, Gerrard made very public statements of looking forward to playing with him as they England roomies. I remember in Europe Alonso always pointing up-field to Riise, instead of showing for the pass. So, in short, bring back Aquilani.
10. His biggest problem? Not releasing the ball earlier; that's what all the top-class FBs do. Second biggest problem? Not keeping in line when we don't have the ball; needs to be further back.
11. Does it not cheapen the memory of the fallen fans by squabbling over not being asked about what gets on the shirt? Does it even make any difference to their memories? Especially since the new shirt has a beautiful memorium. Going forward, (and I really feel like I'm sticking my neck out here on such a delicate matter) I think FSG are not wanting to miss an opportunity to move things on into a new era from a previous. It is not a very marketable part of our history, and I think things have been handled far better than I could dream of in trying to enter new markets who might not appreciate (or give a damn about) the weight of Hillsborough. And it's up to us as fans, and focus groups to not make things difficult for them, in an already hurtful matter. Not easy, but the future of the club demands forward motion. Without seeming to be pandering to the Alan Davies types, we should not burden the club - and all it entails - with being about tragedy. YNWA
12. ''and… whoops… through the legs and he was bearing down on goal. For someone who doesn't have blistering pace, Suarez is amazing when it comes to going past players. It's a rare gift he has, especially when it comes to megging people. There's so many pointless stats and most of them mean nothing to me. They didn't do Damien Comolli much good did they? That said, I'd love to see stats for how many nutmegs Luis averages per game. I'd set the over/under at three.'' Not a stat-attack, but a showpiece of 'the Panna' skills. 13. I've seen complaints of other clubs stealing a march on us in the transfer market; so what! Do we need an M'Vila? Do we need a Vorm? The transfer-market isn't the Cannonball Run; to see what club can sign first, or how many. We need another striker and someone for the right side, minimum, and I've heard that we've been scouting Jackson Martinez(Fd) and Gaston Ramirez(Rw), and haven't we already seemingly put off David Texeira(Fd). So that doesn't seem like we're asleep at the wheel. Aquilani seems set for a return, Danny Wilson (a forgotton decent player) should return too for Carra's (imho) imminent (semi)-retirement. So I don't see much cause for concern, except for undue panic amongst know-all fan-base.
14. Makes me feel proper sad to think of what we had, and what we have now. No joke. I laughed at the clip, then felt a sudden sadness. An absolute gent btw! Edit: and to think that some were seriously making out that Charlie Adam was gonna be a better tougher version?
15. No, it's defo our ex-coach/competition for Hyypia/dressingroom banterist. Saw this yesterday, forgot about though.
