    I`ll go for Barry simply because he`s more consistent than Xabi. Not much to choose between them on ability, on his day Xabi is a better passer but Barry will get more goals and assists. Also Barry can cover more positions.

    In a way I admire O`neil for taking a stand, but it`s obvious that the player wants a move and that we have made 4 offers for him now. O`neil is now just behaving like a petulant twat, so fuck him. Barry should come out and say that his heart is set on a move and that he doesn`t think that Villa will give him the Champions League football that he wants. That would stir things up and get the ball rolling again.

    I think that it`s time we started to get real, Man Ure and the Chavs get screwed over every time that they buy a player, if we want to be put in the same bracket as them ie . a top 4 club, then we have to accept that we are going to get screwed over as well. I would think that 18M is about 2m over priced but we will be getting a player that will make us stronger, and give us the team to mount a serious challenge this season. If we are in the mix come next May I don`t think that there will be anyone then saying that Barry cost to much. Except maybe Rashid.

    It may well be the kick up the arse that Alonso needs. I thought that he looked really good in the euros, when he played. If he doesn`t improve move him on in January. I think that we could still go for Barry then anyway.

    It`s not a worry, 8 out of 25 still leaves 17 that don`t need to be home grown. I think it`s just UEFA trying to look as if they are doing something about too many foreign players in a team.

    I think that Keane is a very intelligent footballer and was bought to link with Torres and Gerrard, in my opinion he will not play out wide but will allow Torres far more space. Defenders are not going to like playing against the three of them. A great signing and one that has been made in the short term until some of the younger lads progress into the 1st team.

    I think that his Torres and Gerrard statement is bolloks. Did`nt we score more goals in ALL COMPETITIONS last season than any other team? So if Fernando and Stevie got 50 between them then the rest of the squad chipped in with their fair share too. And i`m sorry Rash but i`m begining to understand how you piss so many people off with your dislike of Benitez.

    Ok Rash and Hatred, I respect your opinions of Rafa, but do you think that any manager could have done or could do better with what he has had to spend ? I think that he is taking this club in the right direction, and that at this moment in time only The Chavs and The Mancs , and in my opinion this is debatable, look stronger than us.

    I appreciate all of your comments and agree with all, that no one could replace Rafa and do a better job. I just wish that those on this forum with a negative attitude towards what Rafa is trying to achieve, take a look at themselves and remember that 40 odd years ago a man called Shankly came to this club and transformed it and in his own way Rafa is faced with the same job and i`m sure , that like Shankly he will succeed.

    Some say that Rafa has to deliver the Title this season or he`s out. My question is who could win us the Title on the same budget that Rafa has been forced to work with this summer. He`s had to sell to buy and his two main targets, Keane and Barry appear to be too costly . I belive that the youngsters are in place but won`t be ready for possibly 2 seasons. I know that he has had money to spend and in my opinion has spent it on excellent players. Torres, Masch, Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Babbel, Kuyt and Alonso to name a few all top quailty and in my opinion all good enough for any side in the premiership. Add to those Gerrard and Carraghar plus Barry and Keane if we get them and it`s a team capable of winning it this season. Our squad players , Beneyoun, Pennent,Aurilio,Lucas ect are all capable of coming in and doing a good job. So back to my question who could do it better than Rafa?

    My love for football died some time ago for the reasons mentioned by JMARKH but my love for Liverpool will never die and thats all i`m really intrested in now. Don`t watch too much of any other prem teams but do get some satisfaction from watching Barrow in the Confrence (this season) when i`m not watching the Reds.

    The only reason that supporters judge their teams in pre season friendlies is because now most are covered by TV. The so called experts , all giving their view points , most of them total shit and most supporters swallow it all. Pre - season friendlies are for the players to get their touch and fitness levels up to the standard required for the comming season. So watch them by all means but don`t judge players performances on the opinion of some no mark commentator.

    Good luck to him and how do people on here recon that he`s shite? He`s only played a couple of games for us, he was voted player of the year at two of the three clubs that we loaned him out to, so how does that make him shite??? I think that £4 million is`nt a bad price and we have made a nice profit on him.

    As a player Keane was like Souness, hard , uncomprimising and talented . As a manager he gives honest views about the game and the people involved in it be it supporters, owners, or players, it`s just a pity that a few more in the game don`t do the same.

    Any player worth his salt want`s to play for his country. FACT. Why do some people have a problem with that. These players are going to the Olympics , representing their country`s and as a red im looking forwards to watching them, plus it will give us a good indication of just how strong our squad is and if we can mount a serious challenge this year.

    The new membership pack was the best yet, as for the interview the fact that it was on Sky Sports was reason enough to totally dismiss it.
