  1. I don't think so, I just think that track & field was so low-profile in the USA that we managed to snaffle him for our coverage & a great decision it was by the Beeb. I think he has mentored a few of our athletes, but I think that was more as a result of him being involved with our t.v. coverage and available in the UK, rather than the other way around.
  2. A better defensive mids than Lucas & Suarez for Allen ( & then positionally swapped with Coutinho ) and that's a good team.
  3. She cleared me £350 for winning Wimbledon , so I can't worry too much about Sabine at this point.
  4. I hope you are right TB as I like the lad, I just can't see the talent there for a decent test career. With Bell you could always see he had technique but his temperament was the big worry. I was at an Achievers award in Manchester with my work when Jimmy A made his big breakthrough against Pakistan in the World Cup & ended up sitting in my room most of the night and getting loads of crap for being ignorant & only catching the dessert of the meal. Worth it though & I always remember Blowers saying on commentary ; By jove, I think we've found one !! '
  5. You shouldn't really struggle TE. You either find a parking space for free outside the restricted zone ( About half a mile around the ground ) and walk in - The Asda car park on Utting Avenue for instance. Or there are car parks nearer the ground ( @ £6 ) but get there handy. Alternatively park in the city centre & get a cab or a 17/217 bus right to the ground.
  6. There's a Dave Usher on ESPN confirming the story, supposed to be an ITK.
  7. Decent game for a friendly, Stevie got hooked after an hour & Glen was a no-show so happy enough overall. Well done to Norn Iron as well, watched the last 15 mins & they did well.
  8. It certainly hasn't helped him VV, but I just don't get the sense that he has the obvious raw materials to be a good test player. He looks to me a decent option in shorter forms of cricket if he doubles it up with a wicket-keeping gig, but as a test no.6 he doesn't look like he has it.
  9. I'd like to see Rashid get a go as this is one of the few Ashes tests you are ever going to get a chance to experiment in. Hasn't bowled that well this season but has similar figures to Monty & the Oval surface will help. He is also averaging 71 with the bat. If we are just looking to solidify the batting, I think we should be looking at better options than Bairstow going forward as he just looks short of the quality required. It's not like Root, who in my opinion just needs a bit of patience, I don't think Bairstow is good enough. The lad Ballance at Yorkshire looks a great prospect or maybe give Taylor another pop.
  10. ' Please note there are flashing images from the very start of this transmission ' ( and they'll get worse when the cameras start.)
  11. ' Brendan get back here quick, he's put the 'For Sale' sticker back on. '
  12. He will have to lose the golf gloves he wore on 'the voice'
  13. Doing well, Champ. In 5th coming up to the last event, the 800m ( About 5pm ). She needs to make up 3 seconds on the girl in 3rd, 2.2 seconds on the girl in 4th & keep the girl in 6th within half a second, to get a bronze.
  14. Oliver Holt led quite a voluble campaign against her at the time. As I remember, she was contacted & asked to come and meet the testers but said she couldn't do it within the time they allowed. Holt did the trip by different methods of transport & reached the rendezvous each time. I don't have any real beef with her & she took her ban, but I just compare the deliberate silence on the matter with the way Cram ( & the Beeb generally ) were so outspokenly vindictive on Chambers.
  15. If we lose today's behind closed doors friendly, I think Brendan should go.
  16. I have no problem with young trendies wearing them, but boring, fat middle aged pricks with balding pates & baggy work suits look fucking ridiculous.
  17. I got the full stadium thing one Xmas & you had to be a DIY fanatic just to get the floodlights sorted. Me & my mates used to get a room as dark as possible by throwing anything over the closed curtains, so the floodlights looked good on the pitch. As is suggested in the piece however I soon found better things to do in darkened rooms & didn't even know subbuteo was still available.
  18. Bloke by me for no good reason says ' The money Carra's on & he looks like he gets his hair cut with a knife & fork '
  19. I've been getting in with my mate's dads over-65 ticket since I was in late 30's so they aren't particularly vigilant ( Or I'm an old looking bastard )
  20. It is usually you give 1 months notice, landlord has to give you 2 months.
  21. Pulled some idiots over doing the 'hilarious' Chinese voices to the staff in my local chippy in Walton years ago & it all went off. We were outnumbered but luckily some lads at the back of the queue jumped in as well & the no-marks got run off. Always got a boss portion of chips after that. Don't think I would do it nowadays though as you have no idea what idiots might be carrying.
  22. 'No honestly boss they look great, you'll be needing a new picture for the hall then'.
