  1. Tribes 2 Unreal Tournament Planetside Dune (Amiga 500) Chaos Engine (Amiga) Elite (BBC B) World of Warcraft Hardwar City of Heroes Civ (any version) Half-Life Borderland Xcom (any version) Dark Age of Camelot Grim Dawn Titan Quest
  2. Before I get anyone's hopes up, this isn't happening. But I really wish it was.
  3. You're right about the edit but I don't think Rogan challenges the pseudoscience. He says "But God, is that really true though?" and then talks about white people in the military killing people - that's following orders; I can't see a challenge to a "proclivity to violence" caused by genetics, which isn't surprising as he isn't a geneticist. Here's the unedited version - what do people think?
  4. It should be cancelled if it allows this with nobody challenging it (the whole thread is worth a read)
  5. Agree that lots of it hasn't aged well but I confess I still find the Conservative granny sketches funny - to my mind it's making fun of a right, white and Christian mindset. SD just beat me to it.
  6. It's a very good (going by episode 1) adaptation of the first Reacher novel. I'm hooked.
  7. It's not hand holding, is it? Had he asked such a question, it sidesteps all this fuss because he can make the point that he was exploring the audience's prejudice. Without drawing attention to this, it's just a racist joke and he possibly faces consequences. Next there'll be a Bernard Manning revival because everyone recognises his jokes are actually edgy and, although he doesn't spell it out, allow us to reflect on our prejudices.
  8. I gave examples of audiences where other groups would work - the point I was trying to make was that a KKK rally would react in a similar way to Carr's audience if you substitute "gypsy" for "black". The joke relies on prejudice more than it does on shock value. Had Carr subsequently asked his audience "Why do you think I can make that joke about gypsies rather than another persecuted group?", I don't think there would be a problem.
  9. It's a joke Bernard Manning would have been proud of. One of the reasons it works as a joke is because it taps into people's prejudice against the GRT community. As has been pointed out, if you substitute "gypsy" for "black" it would go down a storm at a KKK rally; you'd have Tories roaring in the aisles if you used "trade unionists". What Carr said to justify the joke was bullshit - he tells you in the joke that thousands of gypsies were murdered in concentration camps so the "it's educational" point he makes afterwards is redundant. He doesn't ask the audience to think about what they just laughed at. It's not that I find the joke offensive, it's the reaction of the audience that makes me uncomfortable.
  10. You don't think they want to avoid offending people who identify as non-binary and are capable of giving birth?
  11. I agree and for balance will add that the relentless "anti-woke" reaction is also a pain in the fucking neck.
  12. Lonesome Dove rep - the book is brilliant if anyone likes a western novel.
  13. Even if he survives Partygate he has this just around the corner https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/jan/29/fresh-revelations-about-jennifer-arcuri-affair-threaten-to-damage-boris-johnson?utm_term=Autofeed&CMP=twt_gu&utm_medium&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1643483449
