None of them can carry tune.

Most of obvious ones have had a mention (Scorcese, Wes Anderson and Tarantino), I'd like to add the Korean chap who's name I cant remember who did the Vengeance trilogy (Oldboy etc) I have always found his films enjoyable. I also like Darren Aronofsky for Pi, Requiem for a Dream and The Fountain (marmite of a film, I personally dig it) but also for the fact that his films introduced me to Clint Mansell.
