  1. Footballers are all mercenaries, with the exception of an odd few....
  2. The money from the new television deal will pay for the wage increases given( and more )...
  3. The net spend thing is not irrelevant if you do not have a good enough squad to take on the champions!!! I really hope I am wrong, but I feel we are lacking in both wide areas, we still lack a world class poacher at the club and also the fact that we will be desperately short at the back should Carra or Agger get injured.... I do agree with you about getting rid of some shit players and we have strenghtend, but the gap was 20+ points, and they have probably strenghtend similarly to what we have... One thing I forgot to mentioned above was that I was positively surprised that Rafa could get Torres before the sales to fund it were in place, which is a massive improvement over the "wait until we have sold" stance taken by the club in the past..
  4. They have done great on some accounts, disappointed a little on others. First the positives: They have renegotiated and signed the spine of the team on new long term contracts in a professional and fairly effective manner. They have presumedly tore up that horrible soup bowl design stadium, and if the leaked pictures are anything to go by, come up with a contemporary and unique design worthy for LFC. Also they have said, f*** this 60.000 capacity with no possibility of expansion, we need to compete with Man Ham down the road and set up the option for a further 15-20.000 capacity. (Which Parry thought was perfectly logical, funny how he did not think so when the fans were voicing those same concerns!) They have hired a new commercial director, which can only be a good thing.. Time will tell if he can sort out the online store, the club stores, the ticket office and all other commercial aspects. (A record breaking deal with Coca-Cola for them to tap the asian market would be nice) The club really has to get professional in terms of branding in order to tap the foreign markets, as this is key to the long term financing of the club, hence also playing a big part of it's power in the transfer market.. Now for the negatives: First of all we have spent less in the transfer market in terms of net spending than I expected us to do. Our spending has been pretty much average in terms of net spending, and considering the club were sold to be able to compete in the transfer market in addition to the 20+ extra revenues this year from the new television deal, I expected us to have at least another 20-35 million to spend... And what is this we do not have a transfer budget, all transfers are player specific nonsense.. Secondly Parry have kept his job, but that can turn out to be for a transition period only? It's is still a bit to early to pass any judgement with certainty, but winning trophies is what this club is all about.. So we'll have to see, but I fear we are a few players short of lifting number 19...
  5. Krkic - That's the one we should get.. Great skill and pace
  6. I hereby challenge you to come up with similar highlights of Dyer and Downing, oh please:whistle: Simao is 28-29 and Quaresma is 24 this year I think, meaning we would get the best years of his career As to being a highlights player, do you think Ronaldo is another? Ask anyone in Portugal, Quaresma is rated just as highly there as Ronaldo... As to Wengers eye for spotting a good youngster, he has had some casualties along the way (Jeffers comes to mind), and he did not rate Babel at the value his club wanted... As to being able to spot talent there are few clubs better than Sporting Lisbon and from what I have read the coaching staff there rated Quaresma higher than Ronaldo when they came through the ranks... I honestly believe Quaresma could be as big for us as Ronaldo is for the Scum, with a bit of coaching and direction from Rafa and we would have a world beater on our hands....
  7. Unfortunatelly we have not signed Quaresma, I don´t think we will, luckily the Scum have not signed him either.... If people on this forum thinks that we could not have had use for such a player, who can carry the ball forward with pace, stretch the oppositions defenses, score great goals and set up teamates from the wings I must say they have not been paying attention to what has brought Chelsea and the Scum the last three titles.... I guarantee this guy would have the crowd going week in week out... And he does not have that many national caps because he has been behind Figo, Rui Costa and Simao, simple as that... And for all of you who thinks he will no make the cut in England, in the clips below he is making a fool of the following defenses : Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle..European games I know, but still... We just have to tell him not to fall so easily.. Enjoy, their worth your time!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2PupBTymHGI&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SKAgdV0rFlQ&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHEh4UAAwxM&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1mV-ucWahRM&mode=related&search=
  8. Aguero is a good player but he went missing BIG time in the semifinal against Chile....
  9. If playing a fantastic game against the Chavs in a semifinal is not world class then tell me what is? They are a pretty good defensive team you know... I am saying that we now have great dept in midfield, a midfield with players that are better than Biscan. He would not be an option in the current squad! Selling Harry when we have few options on the left besides an unproven young player who is facing his first season in the Premiership.. If we made a move for Quaresma or someone then fine, if not it would be pure stupidity to sell Harry now.. Let him have his final season to prove his worth, and if it earns him a new contract with us,(or somewhere else) so be it, if it can help us win number 19
  10. Lot's of ungreatfull hypocrites on here, who I am sure were jumping up and down with glee when we took home the FA cup in 2006, well for all of you who say Kewell have done fuck all for our club, without his fantastic display against the Chavs at Old Toilet I do not think we would have even been in that final, so sit back, shut up and relax because this is never going to happen.... Rafa rates him to much to sell him for pocket change, especially as we still are short of dept on the wings, besides he choose us over the Scum, now that's got to count for something no?
  11. Don't think so. I think it has been Gerrard and Carra for both Crewe and Werder... He has been Man of the match though Long live Voromania...
  12. Beat all the crap teams, win all home games, avoid defeat on travels, score lot's of goals, play exciting offensive football, beat our own defensive record, a couple of rockets from Agger and bringing home number 19..... That'll do nicely for me ;) Moscow in May I'll have for desert...
  13. I guess Tevez will play for Man Ham next season ?
  14. The redfaced demented alcoholic will pop a vein just thinking about it... ;)
  15. Like I stated yesterday we are on route to great things, as the team and key players were looking very sharp, however I am concerned that we have not yet sorted out our wings yet... Pennant closed last season in grand fashion, and if he could stick to the line and not cut inside to much I think he will have a much better season than last. Benayoun can be a creative player, but is not really a winger who gets up and down and puts crosses in, so there is not much cover on the right hand side if Pennant gets injured. Harry will be back and if on form he will be like a new signing, as he always stays wide and has the ability to put good quality crosses in, however I am reluctant to put my trust in him to play all season as history tells us otherwise..(Fingers crossed) Babel they say can play both left and right wing, but really he seems like a forward who has been stuck out wide.. He cut inside on every occation yesterday, and on that evidence he will perhaps not be able to cover for Pennant and Harry to supply the crosses we need? I mean we have been waiting for years now and I really hoped our wing problems would finally be adressed this summer... I think Digger was our last winger who kept feeding our forwards with a steady supply of good crosses (McManaman could drible but I can`t remember to many crosses from him) An out and out winger or two (left and right) with pace and "edge of your seat" skills would do nicely..
  16. Not far enough for my liking anyway.... He does not have the speed to challenge from far out, but he certainly has the strength to challenge inside the box...
  17. Another great game from Voronin, I am really buying into Voromania now, as this lad really has some skill I was unaware of.... Jesus Christ he is so strong you need a bulldozer to bring him down, and I am sure he´ll beat Rooney in a sprint. Cool finish for his second goal as well. Thinking back he could have had at least 4 with a bit more luck and accuracy.. Long live Voromania, can´t wait to unleash the beast on the Premiership:laugh: Gerrard looked sharper than he had for ages, and I think he might have the season of his life ahead.... Remember there are more talent around him now and I think that will do him a world of good... If anything his performance today was a statement of intent... Hopefully we´ll see him working his magic from the center of the park most of the time, as this is where he is most effective. Alonso owned the game in the second half, and he will nine games out of ten when given that much space. I think he will be having a great season as well... It really is a work of art to watch him pass the ball all over the pitch with such fantastic accuracy! I think Momo deserves some praise as well as he won the ball on countless occactions, and he had a higher pass completion ratio than I think I have ever seen from him before, now if he could just keep it up and work on his shooting he will be pushing for a starting place.. Torres showed some great touches, beat his marker one on one a couple of occations and showed great strength and pace at times... He missed one sitter, and could have had another when he burst past his marker, but I am willing to bet that with his intelligent movement, pace and power and with Alonso, Gerrard, Agger and Voronin behind him to supply the passes, as well as good supply from the wings he will bag more than 20 goals this season, guaranteed... If anything I feel we lack a little depth on the wings and at the back, but there is still a month left of the transfer window so things are looking good.. Crouch was the only one I felt played below what we should expect, and also someone needs to tell Dirk to play higher up the pitch and get into the box more often, because as the link player, Voronin and Torres are miles ahead... I would love for our Dutch Hulk to kick some ass in the oppositions box and bag us some more goals... All in all the two pre-season games I have seen have been very encouraging indeed
  18. I want number 19 this year and even though I think we lack a couple of players in certain areas (Would have loved to see Alves, Quaresma and Milito or Vila), there is no way I am willing to give in before the start of the new Campaign... I honestly believe we have a good chance this year, as the scum and chavs will focus on Europe, the scum are in trouble if they get injuries at the back and Chelsea will miss Dogpoo and Essien when they will play in the African nations cup. An edited quote from Churchill to cheer you up and get the optimism back: "We shall not lose or draw. We shall go on from strength to strength. We shall fight in Europe, we shall fight in the league and the cups, we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air. We shall defend our Fortress, whatever the cost may be. We shall fight at Old Toilet, we shall fight at Stamford Bridge, we shall fight at the Pit and at the Emirates, we shall fight in Moscow in May . We shall never surrender!"
  19. Quote: "Liverpool, despite the money they have spent are not even as good as we were pre-Abramovich yet" What!! I was not aware Chelsea had won fuck all pre-Abramovich, and certainly not even had a sniff of CL glory..... These guys are even more deluded than the Bitters...:wallbutt: Read it all: http://www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=73674 And before you ask, I clicked on a link at redandwhitekop.com, and my curiosity got the better of me..
  20. If Jesus was an Evertonian when God is a red, than no wonder he got thought a lesson and nailed to the cross... It will all be revealed soon, Jesus´s body discovered in Kirby, Tesco to sponsor new cathedral:thumbsup:
  21. Sign him up now Rafa.... He looked like an asset in the oppositions box which is something we really lack... He tackles hard, and seemed like a leader who pushed the others to win the game, that is exactly the attitude we need in our signings... Besides he is only 23 this year, with lot’s of experience for his age, senior matches as a defender for the Italian national team at that age, with their history of producing world class defenders, as well as being a skipper of their U21 team he should be quite a prospect... After seeing link above I trust their judgment in this guy, even if Youtube can be very flattering at times... Besides he got kicked in the head by Nani who is now with the scum, came back Terry Butcher style, and tackled the little weasel of the pitch twice.. I for one would love to see him do that again as a Liverpool player  His distribution seemed a bit raw and wild at times, but come on if anyone is trying to tell me Heinze has a touch like Alonso they need to wake up.. He is a good defender, but his tackling can be reckless at times and his distribution is awful... Besides the other day in the Copa final, he got taken for a ride by Maicon on several occasions, and Kaka´s humiliation of him and the scum defense in the CL semi still lingers in the back of my head... For me it´s Chiellini over Heinze even if we have to pay 6 or 7 million for the lad...
  22. I would take the 15+ million offer and cash in if such an offer ever arrives, as it would provide the funding to buy a world class poacher... This is perhaps the most important lacking element in our squad today if we are to bring home number 19. Diego Milito, David Villa, Samuel Eto´o and Klaas Jan Huntlaar springs to mind, with the first two being my personal favourites...

We are still 2-5 signings of what I would be willing to bet a lot of cash on.. I still feel we lack the goal poacher in front of goal, and I was hoping for Diego Milito in addition to Torres up front as he is exactly that kind of player. Thank God the Scum did not buy him instead of Tevez, as he is the player they need, a new RVN if you like... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HhWQMh5qTd8 Hopefully Kuyt can prove to be this player now that he will be able to play more within the box of the opposition. I think we need to add some more quality and back-up for Carra and Agger at the back as I think Hyppia is past his best and the thought of the speed of the Scum´s pace up front after their summer spending spree with him on the pitch is giving me nightmares.. Diego´s brother Gabi would have been ideal, but that ship has now sailed... This needs to be adressed if we are to play 3-5-2 in certain games as well. (Of course Heinze could play in this position, but his cameo against Milan in the CL semi was rather horrible). Also I still feel we need another quality winger who is preparred to have a go at the fullbacks at every opportunity, although perhaps Babel hits it of straight away? I was hoping for Quaresma as he can play on both sides as well. We are a bit short of back-up on the right hand side of the defense, as we only have Finnan and Arbeloa, but most of all I think we need someone with more offensive abilities to be used in games where we keep banging against a defensive wall. Alves would be my preferred choice, of course he would enable Benitez with the 3-5-2 option at Anfield. We could use him and Aurelio as wing-backs and at the same time accomodate Alonso, Gerrard and Mascherano in midfield. We also lack a proper playmaker to play in the hole behind the striker/strikers(used with succes by Benitez in Valencia - Aimar), I guess this is why we bought Benayoun, but I would much rather have Riquelme or Diego Ribas of Werder Bremen. Before anybody starts having a go over how much this would cost, I am fully aware, and it is only this year we have looked at players in this pricerange, whilst the Scum and Chavs have been buying expensive players over a number of years, but hopefully in a year or two my points made above will have been adressed and we can go on to dominate the PL and CL for years to come..... But this is not to say we can´t win it this year, of course we can.... We have the best central midfield in the world, the best goalkeeper in the world, one of the best central defenses and we have made some exciting signings... The Scum was lucky last year in terms of injuries and Chelsea have not really strenghtened their teamso far, so it will be closer, and with a bit of luck it could stil happen for us... Remember Chelsea and the Scum will focus on the CL this season, even if they won´t admit it ..... Ohhh ohhh ohhh we got the best midfield in the world, Xabi Alonso, Momo Sissoko, Gerrard and Mascherano, Ohhh ohhh ohhh we got the best mifield in the world.... My mates who support the scum hate this song, as I think it deep down inside they know it is true:yes: Let all teams and away supporters know when they arrive at Anfield!!!
  25. Which I fear will come up a bit to short......
