  2. The thing that makes me laugh is the fact that there's pictures now makes it seem real to them. It's like Kings Dock and the fancy drawings of that never happened. I'm just nodding along to their excitement for the moment. The fall that's coming will be hillarious.
  3. On a Virgin train from London my work paid 160 quid one way for (for standard class). Train is delayed by over half an hour and the air con is broken in all carriages. I'm physically in decent shape and my shirt is absolutely saturated and I have sweat pouring down my face. Virgin are making a killing from selling cold drinks to people and haven't even apologised. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if someone in poor health dies on this train. The sooner these fucking things get renationalised the better.
  4. I'll predict some nice free flowing football with ok results until they play an open game with us at Stamford Bridge at the end of September and we absolutely smash them. That'll be followed up by an early Champions League exit and Frank leaving in about February.
  5. Reds quest for being unbearable continues with release of copycat Spurs strip. Mo: Sorry Blues. No refunds on those new kits you bought.
  6. I'm finally at peace with that game. Had we avoided defeat we would have won the league and that would have been glorious. However, I think Rodgers would also have stayed longer as we wouldn't have sacked him so soon and we wouldn't now have Klopp. If that had happened I think there's a good chance our present day team may have been shite and that achievement would have been 5 years ago and fading into the past. Instead, we're champions of Europe and with an outstanding team that still has several years together ahead of it.
  7. The thing that I love most about the club is the culture. By that I mean the socialist mentality of our fan base and the sense of community that brings. I genuinely do think it separates from the rest. In my head I see it in a different prism to that from the cut-throat capitalist business world that football exists in despite the fact that they're intrinsically linked. I do hate that business side of football with a passion though and it's why I'll never be a fanboy of whichever corporate entity owns the club (although I will happily acknowledge if they are running it well). In particular, I hate the fact that there is such an uneven playing field in the finances across the leagues despite us being a beneficiary of that. As things stand though I can ignore it enough that I enjoy the high moments and this is definitely helped by having a manager and a team that has a collective mentality. If we were acquired by a Qatar or Abu Dhabi I would still continue to support the team as I have invested too much into it over my life but it would feel like a little bit more of it had died. It's on another level than the most common type of owner that's there to milk a fanbase for profits. I think any victories would have a hollow emptiness to them and I would much rather see us win occasional trophies by the team working hard for results than win everything funded by people dying and being imprisoned to fund us lavishly spending out on the world's best players and breaking the rules in the process. There's a lack of soul at both City and PSG. I can't comment on whether that has historically been the case in Paris but I don't think it was at City. I'd absolutely hate for us to become that.
  8. I only watched Palace on occasion last season but formed my opinion on Wan Bissaka based on two goals I saw them concede because he lost possession and couldn't be arsed tracking back. Hopefully he'll carry on with that level of application at United.
  9. He has something about him but clearly struggled with confidence this season. The biggest concern I have with him is that he tends to lose concentration often leading to daft passes like the one you mentioned at Palace. In the main he got away with them but the goal we conceded at West Ham was all on him as he went to sleep and we conceded from a set piece move that we'd trained against and that other players in our team were communicating was about to happen. That was his worst moment for me. The Leicester call he was unlucky with but this one was really on him and in a season of fine margins was equally as damaging. I'm far from convinced he'll make it here and he'll need to perform considerably better to get ahead of Hendo, Gini, Milner and Ox in the pecking order regularly for one of the more advanced midfield roles.
  10. Streaker: "If only they looked at me the way they look at you."
  11. Right lads for the next photo keep your thumbs up like that and raise your other hand as is if you're waving to the camera.
  12. "Hey Luis, did you keep your promise not to celebrate at Anfield?"
  13. "Do your worst. If you take me out you'll just let the Gini out of the bottle."
  14. He's pretty confident for a 19 year old and has qualities but there's still a shitload of mistakes in him as seen by the games against England and Spurs. I wouldn't be impressed if we were splashing that sort of money on him. He's certainly no Van Dijk right now and might not ever be.
  15. I actually thought he was our best player in the final along with possibly Alisson. He was outstanding defensively and the touch to Origi for the goal was much more difficult than he's given credit for. There was also the cross field ball into Robbo which led to his shot in the first half that was equally excellent. Because Virgil is so brilliant he's usually the person that gets the most focus for any good defensive display but he had a couple of rush of bloods to the head early on against Spurs. Big Joel was unflappable and I was amazed to see he didn't make a lot of man of the match polls.
  16. My 5 year old son asked for Robertson on his shirt as well so I think the kids are taking notice of the full backs. My eldest went for Milner last season too so overall I'm pretty happy with my parenting at this point. Love the T-bone Roysters shout as well. Spot on that!
  17. Not seen anything of Adam Lewis but if he is good enough then he should be the option. Give him a run out in the league cup games knowing we always have Milner to provide extra cover too. If he isn't ready then I think we could do worse than look at Aaron Cresswell. A decent standard left back that's good going forward, probably wouldn't cost an absolute fortune and might be happy to just be part of the squad given that he's from Liverpool and apparently a fan.
  18. I see the potential with De Ligt and he seems to be a real leader when you see him with the fans and talking about the game. His inexperience also shows through as well though and being a big money signing for one of the big clubs he'll be under a lot of pressure very quickly. He has mistakes in him as was shown against England and against Spurs. If the reports we're not interested are true I'd be happy with that as I'd rather see Gomez given the opportunity than spend all that money on him when I don't believe he'd improve our team right now. Joe's a lot quieter but every bit as big a prospect. Personally, I'd keep our four centre half choices as they are for next season.
  19. I'd have them more down as the Wolves of international football. Not threatened to win anything of note in decades, lost their most recent major semi final to beatable opposition after taking the lead and are supported by boring, unoriginal brexit loving cunts.
  20. The last six first time finalists (Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal, Monaco, Leverkusen and Valencia) have all lost which just backs that up. The occasion is so big that just being there is an achievement in itself to teams that aren't used to it.
  21. This was exactly how I saw it. I thought we used the ball poorly up front but there was a clear tactic to go long and I think that was our game plan in the event of taking the lead. Spurs play an effective pressing game but in the last couple of months they've struggled badly against teams like Burnley and Brighton who set out to contain them and not pass out from the back. For all their possession they created nothing until they started gambling on throwing extra forwards on the pitch in the last 10 to 15 minutes.
  22. I wonder whether the Origi new contract story is positioning for summer negotiations. His stock is high so if we act like we want to keep him someone will need to pay more money. I noticed Rodgers talking him up the other day so I wouldn't be shocked if we sold him to Leicester for 25 to 30 odd million.
  23. Derby did well to come back last night but the hype around the job that Lampard has done there isn't justified. They basically ended up in roughly the same place and with the same number of points as they have done for the last 5 years and miles away from automatic promotion. The only difference this time is they may get a bit of luck in the playoffs. I don't mind Derby too much as a club but the biggest bright side of it all for me is that he's getting well placed to oversee the post-Hazard implosion at Chelsea.
  24. I think it depends. Keeping them out of the Champions League until they complied would have a big impact. The top players and managers wouldn't spend a long time there if they didn't get to play in it.
  25. He'll get neither a boo nor a cheer from me tonight. He's the most talented, driven player I've ever seen play for Liverpool but the affection was never a mutual one. He's out to win for him which is fine but he didn't think about his respect for the Liverpool fans when he was fluttering his eyelashes at Arsenal and probably hasn't thought about it since the day he left the club. There are some great memories of his football but he was a ruthless hired hand who was eyeing his next step from the day he signed and I can't feel much love or emotion at this point for that.
