I hope you're right because the message it would send out would be terrible. If we look at it objectively Torres of the last 2 years isn't worth £35m and definitely not the reported £50m buy out clause but I just hate the thought of him playing for that shower.
-
I agree with what Dave U is saying in that Torres must of gave them some encouragement. Strange coming so close after they bid for Aguero and if he wants to go let him and reinvest in someone who wants to be here. What pisses me off about it is that this story is just going to be hanging over us for the rest of the season and will bring back the negativity that we got rid of by sacking Hodgson. No way can we sell him now but it goes to show how shit football. If Torres wants to go fair enough but not to a rival especially those fuckers.

I'd expect to Dani and Wilson to get plenty of time between now and the end of the season. Kenny seems to be in stark contrast with Hodgson and Rafa to a lesser extent in his willingness to throw the youngsters on. It's something that will probably work in Kenny's favour regarding his chances of getting the job long term. Another quality addition along with Suarez and bring through some of youngsters so that they're ready for next year.

January 2011 Transfer Window Speculation Thread

I seem to remember him being pencilled in for a return against Ajax on the 23rd Jan. Seems to have bags of potential and besides what could go wrong with signing an injured player? -
January 2011 Transfer Window Speculation Thread

I can't see how Gomez will fit with Fernando Torres, neither is effective dropping off or running the channels and both seem to want to stay close to goal. Also there is no way he'll be going on loan giving the amount of games/goals he has recently. -

Unfortunately I think they are going to stick with RH until the end of the season. I can't think of any suitable candidates barring Rijkaard available now and I have a feeling they will have identified who they want or they don't want to rush a decision. Hopefully Comolli will decide who we buy in January and come the summer the manager of their choice will be available such as Deshamps or Klopp. Coyle is another one that might be a bit of a gamble seen as he hasn't even managed a team in Europe before but he seems to have something about him.

Mourinho is a cunt, Alonso and Ramos under investigation.
FidelMurphy replied to moof's topic in FF - Football Forum
I think it was away to PSV when we were 2/3 up and Dirk just kicked away the ball as one of the PSV players was about to take a free kick I don't see it as any big deal really, there's much worse happening in the game at the moment.- 133 replies

If the standard of player we will be going for is Affelay and Defour I wouldn't have any problem with that. We really do need strengthening in January though at the very minimum a first choice standard striker.

Players that will take us to the next level!
FidelMurphy replied to Monster Masch's topic in FF - Football Forum
I read the PSV statement to mean it won't go for piss take money, something like £6m which would be great value for a player of his calibre -

I suppose there are two types of signings, those that are available now and realistic signings in the summer. Signings for January are Affelay(Contract runnig out in the summer) and Kerzhakov?? the ex Sevilla striker as the Russian season breaks in November. Both of these would make a big difference to our attacking play. For the summer I'd love to see a quick centre half who's dominant in the air, I really like the looks of Cahill from Bolton, another striker/wide player, Suarez would be perfect and a deep lying midfield playmaker, someone like Banega. We really would have a championship winning team on paper then. Oh and a left back, but I can't think of any -
That's exactly what my 5 year old said but about going to Anfield, I'm sure it can't be healthy burdening you children with all the Hicks/Gillet troubles but hopefully we'll all get through it.

I think out of his depth sums it up. I felt at the time of Roys appointment that although he woudn't be in the same class of manager as Rafa the change might benefit the squad seeing as everything had gone stale. Sadly the fact that he isn't a top class manager is only magnified at a club the size of Liverpool and you just know this is going to end horribly for Roy and soon.
-
I think we'll struggle as well, fail to domninate possesion and win 2-1. A team that places so little value on possesion like Roy's will always struggle to win convincingly when his team are short on confidence.

I think he's actually quite quick, the one positive about being in the europa league is that hopefully the likes of Kelly and Pachecho can establish themselves as first team players over the course of the year.

Who do you think is the answer to our striking woes?
FidelMurphy replied to WrongIslander's topic in FF - Football Forum
I really hope Torres doesn't see a minute of action during our europa and carling cup campaigns. I'm absolutely gutted we didn't see a backup striker being brought in and I think it's a major fuckup on Hodgsons part. Going into the summer it was obvious lb and backup striker was the major probelms that needed addressing. As it turns out with the resigning of Aurelio and the emergence of Kelly the one area that was the most important was the backup for Torres but we tried to take it to the wire to save a few million and it has backfired spectacularly. -

N'Gog pulled a hamstring with the French U21's this week accoring to the daily mail, Wilson is with the Scottish U21's as well. I'd assume Pachecho and Kelly would be considered first team squad members who are getting regular action as well -
Transfer Deadline: Will we sign a striker?
FidelMurphy replied to WhiskeyJar's topic in FF - Football Forum
I think we've done quite well in the transfer window, delighted with Miereles in particular but if we head into another season with just Ngog and Torres I'll be gutted. -
I don't have a problem with Konchesky relatively cheaply(~£3m) if the idea was to save money for a big money signing with the Mascherano money but that won't be the case. It'll be Diarra and some aging striker on loan. Roy will give us some bullshit about wanting to assess the players he has or being unable to see the players in person. Everyone knows the problem is the owners but you get the feeling Roy is just facilitating the asset stripping.

A fit Santa Cruz would be perfect but that has happened about once in the last 10 years. Bellamy is another one who'd probably start for us on the left. Prefer to promote Kelly than waste money on Richards although I think he has massive potential.
-
Gomez cost over €30m, given he's only been there a year I really doubt it.

Kenny Huang linked to Liverpool takeover
FidelMurphy replied to Wor Horse's topic in FF - Football Forum
RBS are up there with G&H really, they're bleeding us dry and will continure with the arrangement fees and high interest rates until bankruptcy is the only way out. Rather than looking forward to Sunday I'm just completely pissed off with football. RBS are really coming out of this scot free and really should be exposed for being complicit in our demise. -
If 2 established Serie A clubs won't meet your wage demands maybe your expectations are not on the same level as your ability Emmy.
-
I struggle to believe that as it looks like we're going for a keeper as well. So doubt very much a keeper and Poulsen will be our only purchases in particular if Mascherano is sold around £25m.
