1. Dig! is one of the best films let alone documentaries ever, it's about The Dandy Warhols and Brian Jonestown Massacre, Some Kind of Monster is up there too, interesting look at Metallica nearly falling apart. Paradise Lost 1 and 2 about the Westborough 3/Robin Hood Hills murders are really good so is Grizzly Man.
2. Auntie NWA in trying to give Purslow credit shocker. He's gone, get over it.
3. Agree about Wallace, I thought it was interesting how the characters who got a conscience over being part of the game got taken out quickly by the others, like they could smell what they thought was weakness.
4. The Dookie and Randy stories were really sad and a good contrast to Namond. The kids that were most obviously "good" and "nice" didn't get to be rescued from their situations by the authority figures they looked up to and got left to be corrupted. My friend's a teacher and some of the stories she was telling me were almost exactly the same as some of the things that were going on in series 4 in terms of working the figures and things that the kids get up to. It's depressing to think with the slash and burn attitude being taken by our government that we're not that far from a similar sittuation.
5. That was so funny, I had to wind it back to make sure it wasn't someone else. I loved how someone had written Rawles sucks cock in the toilet of one of the police stations, showed how they were always dropping lots of cool little extras into the programme for people to pick up on.
6. Bunk is fantastic, like nearly all of the characters in The Wire I'd watch a series just based around him, even a Snoop and Chris series would be great despite you needing subtitles to understand one character and the other never saying anything. I loved how you'd see a character for 2 seconds in an episode and then they'd come back 2 series later to play a major part, made me really appreciate watching it through boxsets rather than having to wait a week for the next episode.
7. It's definitely up there, I've not seen The Sopranos, Mad Men or Deadwood yet but it'll be difficult to beat the quality of The Wire.
8. Very late to the party but I finished watching The Wire boxset at the weekend and it really was amazing. I enjoyed reading through this thread and seeing people getting excited at a lot of the same moments that I did, I'm glad I stayed pretty much spoiler free before watching it, I don't think it'd of had the same impact on first watch otherwise. A bit of a tie between series 3 and 4 as to my favourite season, seeing the kids story go through 4 and 5 was so heart breaking, it effected me a lot more than I thought it would. As a story The Wire was pretty standard but the characters and acting elevated it to a totally different level, I'm gutted that I've not got any more episodes to come but at least I can start on The Sopranos now.
9. Yes because you judge a players value on the basis of one game (or even on half a season), also can you show me where the new owners said they didn't want Benitez in place as manager?
10. Cheers AngryofTuebrook, that'll teach me to post videos in a hurry and not link them properly.
11. I love the solo in this song, another reason to love The Fragile- and you can't go wrong wheeling out the Dillinger Esape Plan for Wish-
12. Agree with all of the above, NIN are brilliant, I'd start with either Downward Spiral for the quality or With Teeth for the hooks. The Fragile is my favourite album but it might be a bit oppressive as a first point of call. If you like what you hear of the albums then you need to get some of the shows that are floating around on the internet, they take the recorded versions to the next level. During their last mini tour they played Downward Spiral in its entirety at a couple of shows and the last 2 shows they played in LA are just immense.
13. If it was up to me, I'd go to City, less chance of getting raped in the showers by a sex crazed and retard strong John Terry.
14. Problem is City could offer us £100 million, if Torres doesn't want to go there then we're forced into selling him for a lower figure to wherever it is he does want to go to or we keep hold of a sulking player until the next window.
15. I was amazed that there wasn't more bloodletting last Monday, it's normally one of the highlights of the season although I was surprised about Cable getting the boot. I can't see anyone of merit going to the Raiders as long as Davis is alive. Yeah Sparano seems a good guy, the majority of the blame for this season has to fall on the front office and the total lack of speed on the offence and a confident QB that they oversaw (Dez Bryant or a defensive end with one leg? That's a tough one). Maybe our new Offensive Co-Ordinator can bring something new to the table.
16. Agree with those picks from Odris although I have a horrible feeling the Jets will go through as this Colts side is more that a little ropey. Proud to see my Dolphins totally mess up their hunt for a head coach, Stephen Ross must be praying for a lock out next season.
17. Reap what you sow you hysterical little bell.
18. I apologise to the commish, it was a foolish move, please don't send me to Idaho.
19. You really are an obsessed whining little bitch of a "fan" with an overdeveloped sense of entitlement.
20. Insert ESPN Fantasy Focus Football podcast crying baby sound effect.
21. I work for one of the universities in Liverpool and I've seen research carried out by my uni and several others about how the increase in fees will impact them and other universities in their respective areas. The common thread through all of them was that the post 92 establishments are going to really struggle with several going to the wall or having to merge to survive. You can have the argument that this is a peril of the free market but these uni's are the ones that take on the students from the lower socio economic groups, how this is meant to improve access to HE is beyond me.
22. Yeah I can go for that, it's not like I'm pushing for a play off place : )
23. Madden 2011 is probably your best bet as they've added a new play selection option so that the game helps you pick the best play on offence and defence and the teams will be up to date. As you get more used to the rules and playing the game you can take the play calling assistant off and pick your own.
