  1. Remember how VAR explained they could't correct the ref after Maccas red card a month ago, because it wasn't a "clear and obvious" mistake? There was no need for "clear and obvios mistake" when the ref gave Jones a yellow was it?
  2. He seems to be very careful and picky when he selects his boys. Can't be more than a couple of hundreds ;-)
  3. Dominik Szoboszlai He appears with a humble and polite attitude, yet at the same time oozes inteligence and authority. You wan't see this lad taking Englissh classes the next few years. He's probably finished them already. There's no way Dave can call him "my boy". It's just not right. Has to be the other way around with Dave being "Dom's boy"
  4. Song? Captain Fantastic. Because that's who he'll be starting next season.
  5. Dave’s boy is doing just fine. I bet when opponent’s defenders look at the team sheat, they’re not overjoyed to see Darwin starting Wind back the clock! Aug 20th 2012: Re Luis Suarez . "The forward scored 11 goals in 31 league outings last season and has 21 goals in 54 appearances since joining from Ajax in January 2011 for £22.7m. McAllister said: "I can see him chipping in with a good amount of goals but is he somebody who is going to get 25 plus? I'm not so sure. " Link: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/19312316
  6. Scudamore's birthday coming up?
  7. Thanks, great report after a great game. I can't remember who, but I heard some pundit say something like: "There's a huge difference between pressing high and simply playing a high line...". We had Mo, Diaz and Darwin, all players with speed who likes to make those runs in behind. There was absolutetly no chance a high line could work. Before Klopp 2.0 we really didn't have midfielders threatening to score from outside the box. Now, we have Szobo, Gary Mac and Trent. We'll se more goals from midfield this season and as a result also see gaps appear for throughballs and balls over the top when defences try to prevent goals from a distance.
  8. Red card incident: Maybe once a match. Game's-probably stopped anyway with player down/medics. 40 mins added time? Slightly exaggerated?
  9. He'll get 3. Revenge after Macca's ban was canceled by a neutral panel. That and the fact they still isn't finished with punishing us after Klopp last year.Perfect situation to set an example. Had it been an England player from some other club, max 2 matches or just the one. Maybe even none
  10. For game changing decisions like pens and red cards the bar for VAR to be involved shouldn't be "clear and obvious mistake", simply: "This is a diffucult call, go and have a look again om the monitor" and we should all be OK with a ref sticking to his initial decision. For it to work refs must have the cojones to reconsider and admit they were wrong in the first place, so that rules oiut the PL refs I'm afraid.
  11. They've maneuvered themselves into a corner and can't get out with this "clear and obvious" nonsense. And what is this supporting your mate rubbish Dean talks about? Is it better to watch a mistake from your mate, do nothing about it, and let him hang out to dry with all the pundits in the world having a laugh at his incompetence? Wouldn't a real mate try to bail him out of that by asking him to have a second view right there on the pitch? IMO the only waty out of the corner is to make it obligatory for the ref to look at red cards and pen situations a second time, Maybe unless it's clear and obvious he won't change his mind.
  12. Al Ahli, Al Ittihad or Al "insert name". Who the f*** cares? I can call you BettyAnd Betty, when you call me, you can call me Al
  13. Fluminense are playing a 2 legged quarter final in the Copa Libertadores with the 2nd leg being played Sept 1st 1:30 AM (GMT+1). If they win they'll probably want to keep him. But if If they don't we might be able to sign him. There'll be time enough to get the deal dome before the windows closes at 11:00 PM, right? So, we probably can't expect any definite news regarding Andre until the very end of the window, Roomers have it we've agreed personal terms with him. Is it time enough to bring him to Liverpool and a med check? Or maybe our doctors could travel to Brazil and do the med checjk there?
  14. Thank you football Gods Perfect week-end really: Win No suspension Well needed rest for Macca before difficult fixtures Egg on Thieney's face Love it! Hallalujah
  15. Re: MacAllister red card: If you had a panel of 100 pro refs with the benefit of replays and videos and gave them 4 options to judge the incident: A. Nothing here, play on! B. Free kick to Bournemouth C. Free kick and yellow card to Macca D. Free kick and red card This would be a probable result: A. 3 votes (IMO wrong) B. 48 votes C. 48 votes D. 1 vote (Tierney) How can it get any more clear and obvious than that.
  16. I agree. If Lavia wanted a chance to prove himself he’d come to us. Here he’d be given extended chances and probably a place in the starting XI. At Chelsea, he’s always going to be behind Enzo F / Caicedo. Absolutely a silly decision, except if money was the reason. Silly, greedy or both. It’s OK he’s not with us
  17. I don't think we'd buy Endo had we succeeded with Caicedo. In that respect Endo is in fact a kind of Caicedo alternative, We didn't get our man. Maybe our transfer guys and sunshine Ibiza boy did fuck up, but we also have to accept the fact we were up against Drunken Sailor Boehly on this. Had we bid 2 billion pounds for Caicedo, he'd bid 2,1. All I'm sayibng is we shouldn't panic and go for some 3rd or 4th choice alternative. Remember 2011? We wanted Ashley Young, couldn’t get our man. Crowd went: ”Go for 2nd choice!”. We did, got Stewart Downing. Not smart! Stop gap sollution seems wiser to me.
  18. We only went for Endo because we couldn't get Caicedo. Why would you want to buy Endo before we knew that? IMO the panic move would be to pay way over the odds for someone like Palhinha. To me this is not panic, just sensible.
  19. DM isn’t an easy position. You need stamina, a good engine and willingness to stick your foot in and yes I agree it’s not about flair and creativity. But the most important thing, the thing that makes it difficult, is inside the head. You need vision, anticipation and quick thinking to sniff out dangers before they happen. Cutting off angels, shutting down open spaces, cover runs etc might seem easy. IMO it’s not, it needs a special talent.
  20. Wataru Endo!? We obviously wanted Caicedo. He was our 1st choice. IMO we overbid to get him and still didn’t . Palhina/Doucourre or whoever are all obviously 2nd, 3rd or even 4th choice. Pre Klopp we often went for 2nd/3rd choices. Unsurprisingly that wasn’t a good strategy, as there was a reason they were 2nd, 3rd or 4th choices. Much better then to bring in a stop gap solution and keep the powder dry for somebody in the future we can identify and target as 1st choice. Is this Japanese fella any good? I don’t have a clue, but the reviews of him are pretty good. Anyhow, this looks to me as a sensible decision by the club. Endo discussion!
  21. Depends on what you want. He may have a contract that'll pay him loads even if he doesn't succeed. He could end up being the best paid spectator of football. It's absolutely possible the fucking thick dick is going to be the one giving an unproved 19 year old an 8 year long contract.
  22. Romeo Lavia - the basic facts: Transfermarkt valuation today: £ 28M Was at Ethiad for 2 years from 2020-2022. Deemed not good enough and passed on to Soton for £ 10M. Protecting Soton’s defense for the 2022-23 season. Result: 73 goals conceded. Soton relegated as the by far worst team in the league, 11 points behind Everton. £60M? Somebody’s having a laugh.
  23. Right now it all looks embarassing. But if Henry's playing with Boehly and makes him bid 65M and give the kid an 8 year big salary contract and someone like Tchouameni signs for us the next week, we may have the last laugh. Bottom line should be Lavia isn't worth 60M,
  24. If we pay 60M for him after stalling a deal for 50M, surely somebody has to be sacked. Walk away from this, please!
  25. Somethings ain't right Why woud we all of a sudden bid a record breaking 110M for player we knew wanted to play for Chelsea? Maybe Henry was just pissed off by the fact they interfered with the Lavia transfer? And why has Lavia suddenly changed his mind? Apparently he wanted a move to Anfield. Now he wants to go to Chelsea where he might struggle for playing time. The must have offered him a lot of money, right? Chelsea's like the desperate man at the auction who's set himself a max price on an object, only to double his bidding because someone else is trying to outbid him. The fact probably is: Caicedo at 115M is way too much even in today's inflated market. 55M and a huge salary is way too much for the unproven Belgian. If we're going for a better player we may now be able to bid without competition from the maniac auction bidder
