  1. Think you're right about that. Also, Rome is supposed to be host to several matches. As per now it looks like Rome might not be able to do that. The fact that the EUROs is spread out in Europe also suggests the competition will be difficult to arrange, thus being postponed and played next season. This will give the leagues and the CL/EL more time too.
  2. 5 positives after the 3-0 spanking Watford gave us: 1. If we lose or draw against Everton and-/or MCity. They can’t say they were the ones to stop us 2. Should we win the rest it’s not entirely a draw at Old T that stopped us getting a 100% score 3. We lost 1 match 3-0, not 3 matches 1-0 4. We’re 22 points ahead of 2nd placed team with 10 matches to go 5. Lesson told: To win matches you our players need to commit themselves 100%. Hopefully lesson learned.
  3. It's not entirely wrapped up yet. We still need 4 wins from our last 10 matches. Two disasters at home to Bournemouth and C Palace and we might still need 4 wins, but now from our last 6 with ManCity having closed the gap from 22 to 7 points (if they win their game in hand). Really hope we don't do a repeat next league game against Bounemouth. It could get nervy.
  4. Correct. Better to lose 3-0 one time than 1-0 3 times
  5. Our commercial income is a staggering 188M. The reason for that is simple. It’s the overall popularity of the club world wide. Results are first, that is pivotal. If the team wins/compete for the big prizes popularity increases. But there’s also another issue. People like to support a club that shows passion. Many would feel very good about a club who puts fans first, or at least that’s how it would seem if they gifted it's fans a 50% reduction. How much income do you think Barca has lost by reject having shirt sponsors and have UNICEF on them instead? It’s a fair bid they actually made money on the decision as increased popularity may have exceeded the income from a shirt sponsor. If our commercial income could increase an additional 12-15%, that alone would pay for a 50% ticket reduction. And I don't buy into that tout argument. Touts can be stopped. It's all up to the club. Ticket prices is not the issue. They allready charge the fan 200 quid or more pr. ticket.
  6. ... and the club itself may be viewed as one. What about those hospitality packages? 350 quid for an ordinary ticket and a 3 course meal? Split it up and it's 60 for the ticket and 310 for the meal. No sane person alive would pay 310 for a meal like that. Yet they selll out. Because there's a ticket involved.
  7. Thank you for your reply. I’m not local and can’t afford to travel more than once or maybe twice per season. My trip for this season is due next week, but from last year I remember the atmosphere to be really good. By “genuine fans” I mean all fans locals as well as wools, who really care about the team. I do, however feel bad about local fans being priced out, almost feel guilty of taking up a seat that maybe should belong to someone else. Over the years I’ve witnessed people choosing to stay inside 15-20 mins into the second half as there’s more fun telling jokes amongst friends in the Reds Bar. If I had my way they’d all be flogged out of the stadium. Reducing ticket prices by 50% would be a huge statement, hitting the news in every corner of the world. It would say “we’re here for our fans!”. I think maybe it could be a shrewd business decision. And I don’t share your worry about touts. Touts could be stopped if the club really wants to. They are in fact ever so slowly addressing the problem.
  8. If the club reduced ticket prices by 50% it would reduce match day revenue by app. 24M. That's 4,5% of total income. If they did Anfield would be packed with more genuine fans, people who now find themselves priced out. The atmosphere at matches would reach new heights, cementing our position as the club with the most passionate fans, which in turn would further increase our status internationally. Wouldn’t surprise me if the 24M spent on reducing ticket prices would be paid for by increased commercial revenue. So here it is. Do the right thing and invite the fans back home.
  9. Nice report as always Dave. I also want us to break all records possible. I want us to make the longest run of consecutive wins ever, the longest unbeaten run ever, the most points achieved in the history of the league. All of it. However, if we won all our remaining games it would kind of pain me knowing only a draw at Old T prevented us from the 100% season record. I’ll use that as comfort if we eventually drop a couple of points.
  10. Sorry to ruin your birthday, but it can’t be won on March 7th. If everything goes our way and babyface Ole’s babes beat Man City March 8th we may be within 3 points, 1 win, to claim it. You may be right about Keita. I'm willing to give him until the end of the season before writng him off completely though.
  11. The result at the bridge was perfect. We need results like that, we still want Ole at the wheel right? They’ve now got one good player (Fernandes). A couple of good summer additions and a proper manager and Man U might bounce back as a top 4 team. We need them to be as close to 5th place as possible, although I fear they’ll sack Ole if they don’t get into CL next season. Results like away wins against the likes of Chelsea could make the club make the right decision and give Ole another year to rebuild.
  12. Sums it up really. He refers to them as "us". He can't do that and be "one of us", if that made any sense.
  13. If you want to judge the Evra/Sarez incident and take as evidence "..his career-long habit of using ....etc " I guess that's up to you. You could, if you wanted to, read the FA verdict, although it's proably pointless as you've already made upp ypur mind. There are several posteres on here who actually did read the kangaroo stuff from FA. To us you look mostly like a prejudiced tit. A pity as you views regarding Owen are sound.
  14. Thanks for a good answer. This thread is about Owen. No need to turn it into a futile new Suarez/racism debate. Those of us who acutally read the stuff coming from FA back then, we all pretty much know the truth behind that story. Owen then? He looked after himself and his own career. That's fair enough isn't it? It's football. I don't bear a grudge, neither do I love him. I thank him for the memories and what he did for us while he was here. No need for a hate campaign.
  15. ….and this was where I stopped reading. Not because I’m supporting Suarez. As far as I’m concerned you can hate him as much as you like. No, I stopped reading because this sentence shows me you don’t know what you’re talking about.
  16. Agreed. The keeper is more at fault actually. He misjudged it and left his line. Had he made the right decision and stayed in his goal he would’ve saved it. As you say their defender had to deal with it and the keeper was in noman’s land.
  17. Because of fixture congestion we’ve had Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton, Shrewsbury away and Shrewsbury home. Because of fixture congestion we’ve had this wonderful opportunity to help our younger players develop in their stride to become huge assets for our club. Because of fixture congestion new talents around the world would look at Liverpool thinking: There’s the place to go, there’s the place I might reach my dreams. Because of fixture congestion we’ve had the opportunity to say a big F*** Y** to people who think they’re better than others just because they whipped each other’s asses at Eton (FA). I do hope fixture congestion will be a big “problem” for us next season as well.
  18. MOM for me yesterday. Hope he'll be given a couple of chances in the league walk-in.
  19. The things he tried yesterday may not have come off as he’d like. He’s not in my top 3 for the match. Still he was the one who was constantly looking for that clever short pass in between and behind their defenders. He looks confident, not at all out of his dept and is a handful for any defender. And he’s 16! In the 2022-23 season he could be a regular starter for us being 19.
  20. When someone tries to bully you it’s sometimes better to take a stand than to lay down. FA is way out of order to neglect the decision made by the PL. Sadly it’s been proven necessary for someone to tell them
  21. Is there anyone on here who thinks there’s a slight possibility Brendan and Pep actually want to support Klopp on this, that they see it as utterly important not to interfere with the winter break. I mean, no conspiracy, no hidden agenda, just plain support for a case they agree with and the man fronting it? Naahh. Couldn’t be, could it?
  22. From wikipedia: The title holders Manchester United, withdrew from the 1999–2000 competition due to their participation in the 2000 FIFA Club World Championship in South America, to take place in early 2000 No comments needed
  23. Remember Klopp's words after the 5-4 against Arsenal: ‘I can’t remember the last time I had so much fun in a football game!’ Those words mean f** all if Jurgen's not on the sidelines for the replay.
  24. You , Matip, Lovren, Fab, made a mess of it. Now clean up! Surely the only way.
  25. Klopp has every right to be p***** off by the FA. The FA are being run by a bunch of stupid old men who think they’re better than others just because they went to Eton. Best we can do is to ignore them. Klopp should, however, stay at the sideline in the replay. He should be there to guide our young guns. He can tell FA he doesn’t care about the cup all he wants, but he should show respect to the young players and the crowd. It’s easy actually. Decide on 11-14 players you’ll probably involve in the match against Norwich Feb 15. Let them have their holiday as planned. The rest of the seniors can have their 1 week holiday starting the minute the Shrewsbury game is finished. Ask the young players what they'd prefer. One week holiday or playing Shrewsbury in front of a packed Anfield. The answer is given. The repay is actually good for them and therfore also good for us.
