  1. Genuine question Hermes: Do you not believe the statistics about the correlation between wages and league placings are correct? Do you not believe they exist? I you do believe the exist and are based on facts, do you think it's entirely coincidental?
  2. Awful pitch. Players lacking confidence after poor run of results. Debrecen playing very cautious. Not a pretty performance on our part, but under those conditions I'd take any win. Seem to remember quite a few others saying the same the last few days.
  3. I'll give you two examples from our most recent match. Skrtel was at fault for both goals conceded. First goal: Outmuscled in the box and lost header. Second goal: His very poor pass upfield went straigt to a Birmingham player, a few seconds later it was in the back of the net. Granted, he isn't the only one to blame, but if he'd played his part better both goals would have been avoided.
  4. We started the game very well, putting them under pressure and creating chances right from the start. Well, attacking wise i thought we played better in the first half (when Gerrard wasn't even on the pitch).
  5. Benitez really doesn't care much about price tag. A few examples: Keane, Babel, Crouch and Bellamy have all been benched/remained on the bench while players like Voronin, El Zhar and Ngog have been preferred. Also Dossena/Insua. Lucas v Alonso/Macherano (on occasions).
  6. "He's a genious." Lovely Fat Sam taking all the credit for the win and blaming the first half failings on the players.
  7. Insua Mascherano Agger Can't belive so many have left out Insua, i though the was superb. I must've seen a different match...
  8. Good post. Fully agree. One of his major advantages is to get the team performing out of their skin in big matches. Thats not something I'd easily discard after having seen Souness', Evans and Houlliers teams (granted, Houllier had his moments, but they dont compare with Rafas imho). The bottom line is (for most of us) whether you think he is a good manager or not. I think he is a brilliant manager. He has his faults, some more obvious than others, but the whole picture should be taken into consideration.
  9. You wouldn't know, as you obviously didnt get it. Just forget it, you wouldn't want to overwork your brain.
  10. Too bad if he's gone. Not a big fan of his at all, but unlike quite a few on here (and most other forums) he didn't act like a hysterical girl after every defeat/poor performance/goal conceded/surprising substitution/mistimed lucas tackle/voronin appearance/misplaced kuyt pass.
  11. A few on this thread sound like they fit right in at the Real Madrid board (i don't know for a fact they have a board, but the point still stands).
  12. It was a freak game. We had numerous absentees. Got two questionalbe reds. These things happen in football from time to time. Can happen to anyone. We got a shitty deal today. Lets move on. Gotta give credit to the players and Rafa for, despite all the problems, totally dominating the game for 45 minutes. Normally we'd be a couple of goals up at half time. Game over. And credit to Hodgson. He got lucky in the first half, but made the most of his luck, adjusted considerably for the second half. It was a pretty even contest. They were a bit hungrier, and got the benefit of the refs mistakes. They won. Thats football.
  13. You make a valid point, but you appear to constantly ignore the quality of the manager/backroom staff. It could be argued we've performed worse in the marked but made better use of whatever we have.
  14. I thouht he had a decent game. A bit too picky at times, and he seemed to be particularly picky when fouls were committed by Liverpool players within shooting range, but that may be partly down to my obvious bias.
  15. Carra Torres Yossi Aurelio, Lucas, Agger, Johnson, Pepe and Macherano are all good shouts.
  16. Rafa is getting shit for subbing a player lots of fans gave him shit for signing in the first place. There is deffo some irony there.
  17. Kelly Reina Benayoun I thought Agger looked uncomfortable. Understandable due to lack of match fitness.
  18. I agree. And I wasn't very happy with the substitution either. But judging be the reaction to it you'd have thought Yosse was running the game, when in fact he'd run out of steam (understandably as he'd been working his socks off).
