  1. Spanish hitman days from signing for Blues. Chelsea are very close to signing Liverpool striker Fernando Torres. The recent signing of Yossi Benayoun was signposted almost two months ago here on Chelsea-Mad. At that time we also stated that Double-winners Chelsea were keen to land the Spanish hitman. However summer holidays for Chelsea’s top brass and Torre’s involvement in the World Cup meant that formal talks were delayed. But thankfully Chelsea’s footballing board have got their act together and talks with Torres’s agent are at an advanced but delicate stage. Chelsea have to be careful not to play hard-ball with Torres as he is also keen to hear what Barcelona are offering. Chelsea are clear domestic favourites as they can offer Torres Champions League football and a wage packet second only to Manchester City. However Torres is keen to move to London which puts the Londoners in pole position. Chelsea see Torres, 26 as the ideal foil for Didier Drogba as the Blues seek to land Europe’s top trophy for the first time next season. The move is also a shrewd footballing one as it will enable Chelsea to gradually ease Nicolas Anelka out of the picture in a season’s time. Chelsea’s medical team have advised the Chelsea football board that they will ensure a through medical check is made of Torres and a bespoke training regime developed for a player seemingly prone to injury. Chelsea are confident that there will not be a major doubt over his long-term fitness and as such have convinced Roman Abramovich that a final bid close to £70million will be enough to prise Torres from Anfield. Torres will take an extended holiday after this weekend’s World Cup final matches. Chelsea want to have an agreement in place by Wednessday of next week but sources within the club have told Chelsea-Mad that it could take two more weeks to solve all outstanding issues.
  2. Anyone else heard rumours about Dalglish leaving the club? Apparently they are flying around the interweb....... As regards Hodgson just cant understand sacking Rafa and appointing an inferior coach.
  3. Thats my fear. Quit the kip and find myself regretting it and being out of work for ages. In other words make a huge fuck up. I should have mentioned that Im in Dublin and we are far more fucked than you boys. Anyways best of luck with getting a job man......
  4. Im working in sales and thanks to the recession times are hard. Very hard. Long hours, alot of grief from management and pressure is building up on a daily basis. I fucking hate the place. However it is a job and I know how difficult it can be to find employment out there. So in one respect I'm thankful to have money coming in. Ive a wife and a kid, a mortgage and creche fees to pay. We get by. But we have to watch our money very carefuly. So simple question. Do I end the misery and quit in the hope of getting a better job experience? Not necessarily better cash. Put a smile on my face and remove the stress? or Do I suck it up and ride out the storm? Stop being a pussy and let the pricks in management shout all they want? :wallbutt:
  5. Goodfellas Gladiator Good Will Hunting The Usual Suspects Trainspotting The Empire Strikes Back The Dark Knight Avatar Scarface The Rules of Attraction
  6. He kept his promise. Hes still shit though.
  7. I fucking love Torres but its Fowler for m. Purely because of THIS goal: YouTube - Robbie Fowler Great Goal V Brann Bergen
  8. No way Man This film was quality 9 shits out of 10. see it. do it.
  9. The similarities between this season and Houlliers last season are fightening. And they will end up the same aswell. Bye Bye Rafa, thanks for the memories but you fucked it up last summer and have paid the price......
  10. I remember reading an interview with roy evans years ago and he said the one player he regreats missing out on signing was one Roberto Carlos. Aparently we came close to getting him in around 1996/97ish. Would have been class when he was in his prime. Certainly better than The Stig at that time!
  11. It was already mentioned earlier - Sinnotts is the place to go. The actual pub itself aint great but there are loads of reds there, a great atmosphere and tv screens everywhere. Its also the top of grafton street and pretty much at the centre of everything in the city. Go there. I was there the night of Istanbul and was unreal. Granted its a different story on sunday but u get the point. Most other pubs will have a fair mix of reds and scum but not sinnotts. Will be rammed and loads of singing too. do it.
  12. I remember losing 5-1 away to Coventry during the Souness era. I remember all the early fa cup exits at anfield during that same reign. Not to mention finishing 7th in the league one season during the early 90's. We have been far lower in recent years (last 20) its just that with the advent of sky and all the other media coverage that goes on nowadays (internet forums, phone ins etc) it is highlighted far more nowadays. Remember Houlliers last season in charge? That was fucking horrible. For me this season is the exact same. A complete mirror image of it. Shit football, a Manager struggling with explanations to his shithouse tactics, players losing faith, fans losing faith etc. I only hope that this is Rafas last season. :wallbutt:
  13. It's a question not a statement to get him sacked. And how do u know hes a good man? A good manager? Thats up for debate. Hence the question.
  14. accepted however I didnt want to do another poll as there are so many these days. I made my mind up about Rafa after the Portsmouth defeat and Im sticking to it - I want him gone. therefore it really doesnt bothere me if we finish 5th. I know that sounds as if I want us to lose but for the sake of the club we need to take a step back to go two steps forward (apologies for the cliche). I also think city will beat us next weekend and therefore leave a possible 9 point gap between us and them. We still have chelsea at home and Utd away so although city have a tougher run in they might be too far ahead for us to catch them. I also think the majority of the players will stay on if we get a top manager in to replace Rafa.
  15. Agreed. That's my main concern. If we lose to them next week we are fucked. Jesus I think I answered my own question there
  16. Prefer to....... Finish in the top 4.Pro's: We play champions league football. Attract better calibre of player. More cash. Con's: Rafa stays another season. Yank cunts stay. More shit football? or Finish 5th and play Europa League.Pro's: Rafa is sacked. Possiblity of playing decent attacking football. Yank cunts have to drop asking price and may sell. Con's: Less cash to spend. Probably sell top players. No more Chamipons League. Thursday night football. Harder to get back in top 4.
  17. Young is a huge loss for them as he is essential to the way that they play. Downing will probably play wide left for them and hes useless. While i still dont fancy our chance, they are not as shit as they would have been with young playing. 1-1.
  18. Sorry mate didnt mean that your choice of meal was wrong or the time of year you get it. Its quality amd totaly agree. However steak, chips and pepper sauce should not be purchased in your local chinese.
  19. Reina, Johnson, Carragher, Agger, Aurelio, Mascherano, Lucas, Kuyt, Gerrard, Benayoun, Ngog.
  20. Agreed. But when u know all this shit before going to see the film then why go pay? Dont get it. Its like when u go to rent a dvd - sometimes u want an action film, or a drama, or sci fi, or horror etc. U know what u want and what u are letting urself in for. When going to see 2012 u know the acting will be poor, the storyline laughable, the effects quality and wooden dialogue as u say. But its a quality "sit back, forget shit and enjoy a blow shit up" kinda film. If u want schindlers list dont go see 2012. If u liked independence day then go for it. Each to their own.
  21. Shocking review. 8/10. Its a disaster film so if you were expecting quality charachters, excellent story lines and moving scenes then forget about it. Surely you did the research and knew what it would be like considering the director and his previous films? An excellent popcorn movie where you sit back and watch mayhem and shit blown up. Of course the acting aint great, the dialogue poor etc but i knew that going in and i would assume most do beforehand.
