  1. Fuck these loan deals. Just let them sign him for free. We'll get fuck all for him anyway, and the loss on Diao will be offset by the £15m AC Milan will pay for Diouf at the end of the season.
  2. I'd rather have Morientes, Owen is world class, but had fallen into the comfort zone with us. It was best for both parties he moved on. We started to become too reliant on him, just like we're becoming too reliant on Gerrard now. I'd rather have Morientes as he has experience, is strong and good in the air and will complement Baros' game perfectly. Think we've done very well out of the deal. And we've also got a top lawyer out of it aswell. Antonio Nunez - shite footballer maybe, but a world class lawyer most definately. The football thing is just a disguise. It won't be long before we start taking players to court for breach of contract and Nunez will find ways of fucking up every other club in the land by scrutinising any misdemenour by players, managers and chairmen.
  3. Whats the French for deja vu? I'm sure I read those comments on TLW last week and this morning I read them on the official site.... Have the offal site been 'borrowing' quotes again?
  4. I don't mind the group stage as it at least gives the smaller clubs who qualify the chance to make a bit of cash. What i do object to is the seeding and the fact that four clubs can qualify from one country. I'd much rather it was a competition for champions only. I.e 32 clubs from 32 different countries. The coefficients could still be used to determine the best 32 countries. Remove all the seedings and it'd be a much better competition and instead of england, spain and italy taking all the money, eastern europe would get some money as well. I think the damage has been done though and don't think it'll be too long before the UEFA cup is scrapped and we just have one huge 'champions league'.
  5. I'd rather see us take maximum points off the shit teams than those at the top. We need to be picking up the bread and butter points. As long as we nick the odd win against the top three and beat sides like Birmingham and Bolton we'll be fine... Oh fuck!
  6. Well if any proof were needed that nice teams win fuck all, saturdays game was it. Man United's tactics were awful, but they worked, and they'll work again. We couldn't string three passes together because everytime we tried, Scholes or Keane would commit a little niggly foul. We had 31 freekicks on Saturday - Man Utd had 14. Its not a nice way to play football, but its effective. And when did being nice get anyone anywhere? Chelsea and United have both beaten us in recent weeks, not by playing particularly well, but by being prepared to get stuck in. We are too nice and have too many players who aren't prepared to put their foot in. The referee was a joke on Saturday and had he took control of the game earlier on, they might not have got away with so many fouls, but if you can get away with hacking people down then why not do it? Every team apart from us seems to be doing it!
  7. Dudek made a big mistake, no doubt about it. But, in his defence, Rooney shouldn't have been allowed to shoot in the first place. Everyone always blames the keeper in these situations, and yes he should have saved it, but Rooney should have been closed down sooner. Dudek is far too prone to errors and the wide shouldered one is too prone to injuries, and isn't all that anyway. A new goalkeeper has to be top of the list of priorities for Rafa. If we're going to play the kids on Tuesday, why not give Harro a chance?
  8. There's some pics on the Urchins site - or at least, there was. http://www.lfcurchins.co.uk
  9. Quite. Whats happened in Asia is tragic, but thousands of people are dying in Africa every day. People in Asia have lost everything and their lives have been ruined? Well what about the millions of people in Africa who haven't even got anything to lose and each day is a struggle to stay alive? And I don't think that Article is that bad. And I hate it when people use the word 'scum'. We're not fucking Bolton or Portsmouth are we? Who gives a shit what United are writing about us? They're always trying to wind us up with stuff like that, just ignore it.
  10. Karl Heinz Riedle. What a top bloke. Its funny really, Evans signed him to play alongside Fowler, but because of Robbie's injuries he played alongside Owen. And I think KHR had a big part to play in making Owen such a great player. He was a great pro and Owen must have learned so much from him. And he was a class act, shame we signed him towards the end of his career. Anyone remember his goal at Elland Road? That was real quality. Great header of the ball aswell - especially as he was a relatively small guy. Wonder what would have happened if in 97/98 Robbie had been able to stay fit?
  11. I bet Gerrard wasn't the only player thinking this though. The lad seems to have a big problem keeping his big fat gob shut. As captain he has a duty to keep morale in the camp high. But some of the comments really haven't helped. He's come out publicly and basically said he thinks his team-mates are shite and that he's 10 times better than they are. I wouldn't disagree with that, but he shouldn't come out and say it. And he shouldn't have said this either, not only is it disrespectful to Watford, but its not fair on his team-mates. I bet Welsh, Potter, Smyth, Raven and co feel even more gutted they weren't picked on Tuesday now having heard the club captain say this. What they'd give for the chance to play against lowly Watford in the mickey mouse cup eh? You might be too good for it Stevie (You big headed cunt) but I can guarantee that there are plenty who'd have loved the chance to play.
  12. There'll still be tickets on sale on saturday. There's always some tickets returned from fans who can't make it, and the players get tickets for their families but don't always take them. Its worth going to the ticket office 10 minutes before kick off and asking if there are any tickets left.
  13. I'm not criticising Rafa, as you're right he has still had opportunities, I just think he'll leave probably thinking about what might have been had he played a few more full games and had a bit more luck. How typical was it for him to be ill when we played West Brom? Had he played in that he'd have scored a bagfull. I would have kept him on Wednesday though and I reckon Rafa would have as well if he'd scored with that chance just before he went off ;)
  14. I don't think Rafa thinks he's good enough. He'll maybe stay until the end of the season but can't see him staying on after that. My money's on him going to Crewe. Gradi has wanted him in the past and with Ashton gone he'd be an ideal replacement. I feel sorry for the lad really as I think he's had quite a bit of bad luck in his time here. When Baros was warming up it was inevitable Mellor would be taken off, just like it was against Norwich and so many other games. Even Everton, when we were 1 - 0 down and Rafa wanted to take him off! I just sense Rafa doesn't have enough faith in him. Can't be easy for Mellor when he's probably half expecting to be substituted after 55 minutes in every game, and when he knows a new striker is coming in how are you supposed to keep your chin up?
  15. Got sent a great email a few months back with some Chinese proverbs; Man who walk through airport sideways is going to bangkok etc Deleted the email by mistake though. Anyone know any more good ones?
  16. Has Neil Mellor been taking it in turns with Igor to shag Mrs Benitez? He must have done something wrong as yet again he was substituted. I thought he looked far more threatening than Pongolle and was starting to come into the game more. As the game opens up towards the end of the game Mellor is someone who's likely benefit. I think he's been really unlucky over the last 2 months as he's hardly played a full game. Plus, he was missing for the West Brom game when he probably would have scored a bagfull. As the Morientes deal is almost done, Mellor's chances are probably going to be limited now, but I think he'll feel a little hard done to in that he hasn't had a proper run in the side. What price on him ending up at Crewe to replace Ashton? Shite game all round last night and too many players had their eye on saturday's game and didn't want to get injured. Wouldn't have seen the young lads shitting out of tackles and holding back. The more I see of Nunez the more frustrated I get. He's no world beater, but I think he does have talent, but he doesn't have enough confidence. He never seems to want the ball, always seems scared of fucking up and won't take players on as much as he should. When he first signed he didn't seem to have any confidence in himself and seemed more arsed about being a Lawyer. Seems to me he's stumbled into a football career but he isn't really arsed about it.
  17. Strange thing to report if its not true. Either way, I'm sure someone will come to his aid. *Considers deleting that after remembering he got upset after Hermes made a joke out of Alan Stubbs having one ball....
  18. 'Roll up roll up' for the latest round of TLW appalling pun contest. We should really be stubbing out these bad puns.
  19. Always, we only think about the next game. Then after we will see.
  20. Who the fuck is this little no mark? Can't believe how much coverage this bloke is getting regarding his transfer request. He's a complete nobody at a small time club. And he isn't been linked with a move to Liverpool, Arsenal or United, he wants to leave to go to Blackburn Rovers!!! Bored of hearing the Birmingham chairman/cheif exec and fat head talking about how desperate they are to keep him and I can't understand why the media think people actually care. I suppose it would seem a tad ironic if I just ranted about how I'm sick of all the skysports news stories and media crap about this fella but then started a thread about the bloke, so I'll continue: Do we need a Robbie Savage type player? Not Savage himself, but someone who will put their foot in and get people wound up. I think as a team we're far too nice and we need to be more aggressive. Arsenal aren't exactly a nice team are they? And Chelsea certainly weren't nice on new years day. I bet there aren't many teams who've the league and the fair play award in the same season either. I'm not saying we should be picking up loads of red cards and just being a plain dirty side, but a bit of nastiness and aggression wouldn't go amiss.
  21. Theres also the chance for us to rack up a good scoreline, meaning we can play a weaker side in the second leg. A mix of experience and youth would be good for this one. We may even be in a west brom situation where we can take off some of the first teamers in the second half.
  22. If I'm not mistaken, he's wearing a Stone Island jumper! Does that explain why he's been in the team this season? A man of such importance must have some friends in very high places and together they've threatened Rafa and his family in order to get big Sal in the team....
