  1. I love a good murder ballad, especially based on a true story, anyone else? Decoration Day - The Drive By Truckers - This one is about a family feud between the Lawsons and the Hills Not true but still awesome, Delias Gone - Johnny Cash - "First Time I shot her, I shot her in the side, hard to watch her suffer but with the second shot she died"
  2. A great year for music, some great album inc Rain Dogs, Rum Sodomy and the Lash, This is the Sea. 50 albums released in 1985 that still sound great. http://www.nme.com/photos/50-albums-released-in-1985-that-still-sound-great-today/369836#32
  3. Little Martha - Duane Allman
  4. I have "Beginnings" by the The Allman Brothers which is a combination of their original two albums (The Allman Brothers Band and Idlewild South), also the Duane Allman Anthology which has some of the Allman Brothers plus a lot of his session work like Hey Jude etc. But the best of all is the Live at Fillmore, it's just amazing.
  5. Sorry, on my phone, didn't see Hey Jude already posted The live at fillmore album is one of the best of all time The Allman Brothers Band - At Fillmore East, 1971: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD6245C6E0DE40AE1
  6. Any fans of Springsteens Nebraska will love this one, it's dark and brilliant and will be on his new album. John Murry - The Wrong Man
  7. I just won two tickets to see Ryan Bingham in dublin and a "meet and greet" (whatever that is). He won an oscar for best song in the film Crazy Heart with Jeff Bridges, he's excellent - check out the acoustic slide guitar on this one.
  8. "Darkness ain't such a hard road,if we don't go down it alone" - The Delines (my favourite album from 2014). I saw them again on Thursday last in Cork, they're touring in the UK this week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SozuNg9kVn0
  9. Thanks for that Hades, I haven't been recommended surgery yet, I've just had a couple of cortisone injections to my hip - Christ it must be bad for you guys to have surgery - did it help?
  10. I have sciatica at the moment and it's a horrible low ache (like a toothache) in your legs and it gets worse at night. I've broken my arms, nose and collar bones but the worst pain on a football field was a torn hamstring and having to go to work and sit on a high chair the next day.
  11. I think this guy is the best of the modern country singers but he would be considered more Americana. "In a room by myself, looks like I'm here with the a guy I judge worse than anyone else, so I pace and I pray and I repeat the mantras that might keep me clean for the day"
  12. Definitely check out the stand-up stuff, that story about him being "down south" is brilliant. I love the early movies, the physical comedy in Sleeper is great (how annoying is Diane Keaton though) and the jazzy soundtrack adds to it so much. Some of the gags in Bananas like the car reversing scene, the silent orchestra at dinner and the training scene are just hilarious. I love that sperm story in "Everything you always wanted to know about sex", the rest of it isn't great. Another underrated one is Zelig, documentary style but very good.
  13. Two beautiful songs from a very strange band (Lambchop) Paperback Bible I Can Hardly Spell My Name
  14. I saw this guy on Tuesday for the second time this year, he played an acoustic set and was awesome. Similar to Elvis Costello
  15. It was a good start. That Lera Lynn song at the end when they're in the bar is great Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  16. I love the original of this, but just heard this version last week
  17. David Corley - Easy Mistake, this guy has just released his first album at age 53 and it's excellent, for fans of Tom Waits.
  18. I saw these guys play in Kilkenny this weekend at the Rhythm and Roots festival, they were absolutely amazing. From Montreal, they mix so many different sounds, blues, americana, grunge etc and they are back in the Autumn apparently.
  19. This is fantastic, apart from Jools Holland at the end
  20. We are using agile now too, however I only realised at a meeting recently that I had been using 'waterfall' for 15 years. Seriously though, you know that the people who come up with stuff like "Champions", "Scrums" and "Sprints" have never played sports in their lives.
  21. The latest one in our place- "We'll keep going like this unless we get a 'bluebird' from somewhere" wtf?
