  1. agree with the sentiment on that, a shame developing anfield is outof the question, new grounds all seem to be exactly the same. Caught a glimpse of Arsenal's game at the weekend, nice looking stadium if you like that sort of thing, but the same as the rest, very dull.
  2. the summer has been full of big issues, the transfers of alves, kuyt, pennant and all in sundry we are linked with and the stadium stuff as well, should be exciting time but it has become so tedious and boring. Roll on the start of the season and the close of the transfer window
  3. the only way we should let them take Djimi on lona is if they agree to take Mad Sal of our hands.
  4. have to echo what the majority are saying, nowhere near good enough for us, but to let him go on loan in just ridiculous, we are continually getting fucked over in the transfer market and it is starting to get silly, either pay up or feck off that's the only reply we should give.
  5. If he doesnt go over the top with it i think the England stuff could do Crouch some good, a boost to his confidence and maybe see him try and impose himself on games a little bit more. Definitely some work on his heading required though. Good points about Momo, such a physical player, if he can start to make a few more forward runs with some well timed arrivals into the box could add an extra dimension to our game. As for the England captaincy i think it is nailed on John Terry and let the media have him, they seem to think the England captain becomes their property.
  6. Was much more aggitated by the proposed transfer of Bowyer than of either Bellamy or Pennant. Bowyer is a twat of the highest order and again not very good, dirty snidy, cowardly bastard on the pitch and the same off of it. Pennant has proved himself to be a twat off the pitch, drink driving is a serious offence and the fact he did it twice shows a very poor attitude to life, in my opinion, hopefully Rafa and co can sort him out. MY main concern is is he good enough to play for Liverpool, if he signs then he will have my full backing, although still struggling to get excited by his arrival. My opinion on Bellamy is strange, i was against him signing but other the past few weeks, being the fickle fan i am that has totally changed and i am looking forward to seeing him play. He is a firey little twat but if Rafa can channel that then it can be used to our advatage, and he fell out with Souness which has to be a bonus.
  7. have to agree with that, a measure of a person is how they learn from mistakes, seems as if Pennant didnt learn at all, or didnt care enough to want to learn, smacks of a big time charlie attitude. As i have said before, if he comes i will get behind him, but cannot get excited about him at all, seems to be a bit a twat and not exaclty a world beater is he?
  8. Our title chances will be altered more depending on who Rafa brings in up front, rather than for the right wing, i think Alves would have been a great addition, he would have given many more options than Pennant, his attcking flair and pace enabling him to be used as an attacking option from right back when teams were defending deep and something extra was needed to break them down. We already have a better right-sided player than Pennant in Stevie, who in my humble opinion had his most consistent season for us and revelled in the right sided role, and with the midfeild two of Xabi and Momo allowing him that freedom then surely that will continue. What problems we had last year came from the lack of goals, the addition of Bellamy and a fit Fowler whose intelligent football was a joy to watch in some games last season and can only get better as he gets fitter, Crouch whose confidence must have grown after his England performances should improve on last year, so one more top class striker to compliment those will turn out to be more significant than Pennant in my opinion, who will spend most of the time warming the bench.
  9. Totally underwhelmed by this news, as has been said before Alves looks a different class, would rather see us pay the extra couple of million for him than pay an inflated fee for someone who so far in his career has looked an average player, but then i dont know the finances involved and what other players we are after. Just dont think he is that good. Having said that i will get behind him if he does sign, and i think we all know that come the big games Stevie will be playing rght side anyway. Hopefully this frees up some funds for another striker and the dragged out shinanegans can be concluded and roll on the new season.
  10. If (and its a big if) he did indeed turn us down to go to Newcastle, then they are welcome to him to be honest, i only want players who are commited to Liverpool and players that want to test themselves and win things at the greatest club in the land playing for Liverpool, not someone who might just be here for a decent pay cheque. If DUff chose Newcaslte over us and Tottenham then he has took the easy way out and has gone for financial reasons alone, that can be the only reason any player would go to Newcastle.
  11. glad i got that wrong, definitely too much white on those for my liking. the kits aren't always going to please everyone, the could have been much worse to be honest, probably the minimum amount of white addidas were ever going to let us get away with.
  12. the veterans wore the kit on the trip to denmark and norway by the looks of some pics on the offal
  13. It is definitely chuckleworhty that is for sure. Ashley Cole, rambling on about Arsenal being family, that much of a family he had an escape clause in his new contract! As for them buying Roberto Carlos, ridiculous, another ageing superstart to add to Ballack and Shevchenko, the funny thing is when Madrid were doing their gallactico thing they really were the buying the world's best players, Chelsea are just buying overpriced players with big reputations but on the way down. Give me Rafa's bunch of hungry, quick, strong talented footballers than that circus any day of the week.
  14. very good points, the price Spurs are touting around for Carrick is comical, he is average at best and a very poor passer of the ball. Why on earth would we want to sell a young proven player, who is settled and only going to get better?
  15. Xabi is one of the few players that i would imagine is simply not for sale, such a key player to the way we play, havent seen anyone with his passing ability for a very very long time. Also copes with the physical demands of the premiership as well. To suggest Rafa would sell is pure folly in my opinion.
  16. Personally i never thought he was good enough to be a regular first team player at Liverpool, certainly not good enough to be a regular starter in a championship winning team. The lad tried his best, did improve under Rafa to some degree, but he has been here 7 years not cemented his place in the team and had a few good games in the Champions league run, ultimately just not good enough. If we can get £500k for him, clear him off the wage bill then its good business by us, you only have to look at the clubs trying to sign him to see the level he should be playing at.
  17. Not particularly excited about Pennant to be honest, £6m is alot of money for him, but as Ian says he will spend most of the time on the bench as we already have the best right sided midfielder in the league. At least there will be an end to the speculation then though.
  18. Honestly dont think Chelsea will walk to another title. Dont think they are as good as they are made out to be by the madia etc, just because they spend ridiculous fees on players doesnt mean they are invincible. Yes they will be hard to beat, and yes they have signed a couple of good players in Shevchenko and Ballack(although we will see at the end of the season if Ballack has played twenty games for them). We have a very strong team, in my opinion our defence and midfield are easliy the equal of theirs. Let them go about their business in their manner and we will go about ours come next may i honestly think there will be very little between us.
  19. like what Rafa seems to be doing at youth level, playing alot of the younger players in the reseves, that has to be better for their development than sticking them at youth level. Will any of the youth cup winning side/younger reserve players make the breakthrough this season? Anderson scored a cracker on Saturday and can play that problem right wing postion, Hammil played well by all accounts when he came on, Hobbs, Roque and Antwi all playing as well, be interesting to see what happens and would be great to see a couple of them make it.
  20. certainly is interesting, from what i can remember the fuss when Arnesson(sp) got poached from Tottenham and ended up at Chelsea all went quiet very quickly, makes you wonder. Having said that i am a sucker for conspiracy theories
  21. GeoffM

    Djimi

Personally think if we can get a million plus for him then we should snap their hands off. He has been here 7 years, never really been a regular and apart from a few games the season before last never really looked good enough.
  22. i think you are right about the Greece/England game, and what the feck is that all about anyway? a freindly at that time of year?
  23. truly awful. and Miss Ellis Bextor deserves a much more grusome and slow death that that
