  1. LMFAO.....I like that...nice touch Hermes
  2. We were (are) not good enough plain and simple it was obvious during the home leg. As for everybody slagging M Oneill, ask yourself what tactics GH would employ given the same players FFS...we have used some diabolical tactics on many an occassion during the last 2 seasons. credit where credits due Oneill hasn't done a bad job all things considered. He might be in a 2 club league but they are unbeaten at home in all comps including Europe- not a bad record is it??
  3. Kenny did an interview over here about 3 weeks back. he was asked about the current situation at the club and whether GH should be sacked now or whether the club should wait until the end of the season. He didn't give his opinion, however he raised the point that waiting until the end of the season would give any new manager less time to work with the squad and possibly bring in any new players and get rid of the crap. Another point he raised was the question of what the board would do if we finished 4th and then failed to qualify for the CL proper. He certainly gave no indication that he would be interested in the position either.
  4. jS I couldn't argue with you over the exact wording but I believe he gave the impression that he had a plan in place that would bring us the title...now we are talking maybe 4th and we are way behind the top 3. What saddens me is that man for man with say the Mancs I feel we are stronger but compare AF's tactics with 10 men against city compared to ours on the previous Wednesday. I think it says a lot about Gh's tactical ability and self belief.
  5. Point is he answered your questions DD Given the history of the club surely you would agree that setting your sites on a top 3 finish is not really acceptable? Given that when GH took over he stated that he had a 5 year plan that would see us as champions? I am guessing here, but I suggest that many of the people that post here would love to see GH prove them wrong and bring home the silverware ( yes there are some who will never be happy but that's life) but can you honestly with hand on heart say you can see that happening given the last 2 seasons?
  6. TC hafataagree with that. I watched the game live over here and could see the sucker punch coming from a mile off. A couple of other points. We played with 1 striker at home to shite. that 1 striker had one chance and scored , the rest of the chances were created by non strikers. I include H*******Y here since he played most of the game in the m/f. One of the sides problems is that the m/f sits very deep because we lack pace at the back thus the gap between the fwd ( fwds????) is too big and therefore our build up (with the exception of SG's runs) tend to be far too slow allowing the oppositionto get men behind the ball. This has been a problem for the last 2 seasons and yet has not been addressed. Yes P/mouth were lucky but our style and tactics helped . Must be because we only play top class sides week in week out!!! These days watching the side I 've supported since I was kid just drives me nuts
  7. Magic pies tho, (pimbletts) One of the things I miss living down here used to drive up from Huyton to buy them:yes:
  8. Cath, like u I grew up in the glory days and was privileged to watch many great players in the red shirt. I agree with all the sentiments posted on this thread so far. Perhaps one of the things missing might be spirit in the dressing room ( with some exceptions) King Kenny was out here recently and a couple of days back I watched a 30 min interview he did. Obviously he was asked what was going wrong at Anfield given that Liverpool 3 years back were challenging the Arse and the Mancs . He actually didn't have an answer. Later on tho' he was asked what was the secret to his championshipw winning sides at Anfield and Blackburn and he said it was the dressing room spirit. Each player worked their socks off for each other and kept going even when the odds were against them. He also said that they went out believing they could win each game. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I did not see Wed's game but I would question the playing the tactics of 1-9-1 at home to a side 4th from bottom. Furthermore I think GH insults the intelligence of many reds supporters by then trying to justify it.Question is, does that sound like a side who went out believing that they could win? The Pompey game is on live here today I shall be watching and hoping for better.
  9. Steve Nicol, what a player played well in most positions. I was talking to Dalglish about him in the week (he was over to play in a Pro Am golf day) Kenny was saying that him and jocky were always taking the piss out of Nicol but in the end they got fed up 'cos it was like shooting fish in a barrel
  10. hey maybe that's were I know you from.... For the record I am old enough to remember watching us batter Leicester and Stoke and being thwarted by Banksy so that was a couple of games...what are the excuses for all the other games this season....? Maybe you remeber the flowing football we played hammering Inter at Anfield or in beating 'Gladbach in 77??? These pages are about opinions .Who is right or wrong ?? It is obvious from your posts that you believe that you are. Time will tell. Like I said in thr first post I don't hate GH and as I red I want him to prove me wrong. Will he????
  11. I always thought that GH should have gone when RE went. I honestly felt he was half the parnership and therefore shared the responsibility. Anyway regardless of that ,I think he did achieve some results which I didn't believe he would. Point is I've never changed my opinion that he was not the right choice and I think it is a measure of how far our standards have slipped when we consider Saturdays result ,against a very poor side, to be a good performance. Yes the football was good but we didn't score again at home!!! One last thing... I do not hate GH or the board and would love to be proved wrong, point is I don't see it happening.
  12. Watched Senegal play in the African Cup of Nations (all games are shown live here). Hafta say once again EHD failed to impress spent most of the game looking unhappy playing shite balls in and moaning. While we're at it Diao and Diawarra were'nt up to much either
  13. The whole article made no sense to me. My son reminded me of the actions taken by Bobby Robson last season when Newcastle were 2 zip down and managed to gain a point. I still can't get my head around his selections for the bench!!!:dunno:
  14. watched the game live here, still puzzled about the substitutions and why we had 3 fullbacks on the bench anyway??????????????????:no
  15. Happy to donate, whats the easiest way considering where I stay these days?
  16. Fuckin brilliant cheered up a shite Friday morning in the office
  17. I want: Less shite from Houllier - Use the bolton coment as a template for th future ged Rid of average players that are quite obviosly of no use - Traore, Diao possibly Biscan, and definitely the "Couldn't care less" twats like Cheyrou and Heskey. Subs bench which is a mix between the likes of Smicer (who has always tried and never moaned evn though he has never been played in his best position) Murphy, Welsh, Otsemoboor, TLT, Pongo etc. Stu, given all of the above most of us would be happy, but being a realist I think we would be lucky to get 1 out of 3
  18. Motty I really don't think most supporters out there believe that we have a God given right to win anything even during the Paisley era ( when we were cleaning up) it wasn't like that. No I think what people expect is players that perform with pride and passion when they pull on a red shirt, players who can walk off the pitch and know that they gave it there all. Then we would like a manager who we know will make sure we get all of the above by providing the necessary motivation and playing style and who will be honest in his statements and not treat us like we are a bunch of muppets. That I believe is what we expect.
  19. Spot on post Paul, except for the last para as I believe Houllier has proven in the last season and a half that he is not the man to lead us to the title.
  20. The reason he is saying things like this is because of all the people saying "he's lost the plot" which is just unspecified random criticism (which plot? when did he have it? What was it?). He then says things to relieve the pressure on him (and his side) and then gets abuse for it and then.....round and round we go. Stu Monty Seem to remember the plot having something to do with a 5 year plan Stu and now we reach year 5 and we are going backwards at a rapid rate. All most of us want is some logical explanaition of what we are doing and where we are going instead of unintelligable mumbo fuckin jumbo
  21. I think the article is excellent, sought of eloquently sums up the way I have been feeling for ages. One question Dave, without a doubt Semmy is playing well but what will happen when Finnan is fit again? My guess is he will probably disappear back into the reserves doomed to probably moving on to another club
  22. I think most people would agree that GH has done some good for the club since he came but I tend to agree that he has taken us as far as he can and staying too long could take the shine off a lot of the good things he's done surely we could use him at the club in another capacity? (Not Press Officer tho'!!)
  23. was Ray Kennedy not bought as a striker and used successfuly in midfield? (I might be wrong there). I also think his contribution compares more than favourably with all the players you have mentioned, maybe Duff aside. Yep you are correct in your assumption about Kennedy but that is a close as you get with the comparison, Kennedy was quite simply deadly drifting into the box late and applying finishing touches as well as just doing the simple thing when on the ball put him in a class of his own. He was also probably the only successful conversion of a striker to Mfder that I can think of ( could be wrong there) EHD tends to overdo things. Yes he has a great first touch but his crossing and habit of trying to beat a man at least twice before delivering tends to spoil his approach work. At the end of the day not worth the money we spent on him
  24. I think this season it's been those sort of comments that have pissed me off the most.....some honesty would be refreshing
  25. yes....how fuckin sad we are votin on if we will be 3rd loser
