  1. Remember this being on the telly when it first came out (79?), haunts me to this day, still can't watch it properly. Oh and James Mason is incredible in it.
  2. This. I mean, what's the point in jumping on board now only to jump off again in September if/when they've not backed their own man in the transfer market? I'll wait and see thanks.
  3. Underwhelmed by this news but do prefer it to the prospect of Martinez (much as I like him as a man and manager). A couple of points though possibly made by others; Firstly, Rodgers must be highly rated within the game as it was only a few weeks ago he was considered likely to replace an England bound Harry Redknapp. Now Spurs are nowhere near the size of club we are but they have been stronger in the league than us for a few years now and would aim to continue that under a new manager. Secondly, our transfer budget this summer will tell us more about the ambition of our owners than the choice of manager will. They have their own man now, let's see if they back him and back the club to return to the top.
  4. What was the jist of the case he made?
  5. I like Martinez as a man and as a manager. But I can't say I ever wanted him as Liverpool manager, and now I'm scared.
  6. I asked you first, what gives you reason to think they aren't stupid? Please enlighten me. I'm not saying they are, I'm reserving judgement - but based on the men we're being linked with I'm not exactly filled with confidence. I don't think they would intentionally choose the wrong man for the job by the way, it's just that they might not know any better. Do you think Martinez is the right man?
  7. Aren't they? Perhaps they are listening to the wrong people. If, as you say, they are not stupid and you therefore, one would assume, believe they are listening to the right people then please share with the group - it would be most helpful at this time.
  8. Bearing in mind the other names in the frame I'd currently take Rafa back in a heartbeat. Any 'up and coming' manager I feel is going to need years to get us back up there and that's IF we give him the time (cue another new manager in 2 years). I just feel Rafa, however, could have us challenging again pretty quickly as he knows the club and knows the league. I'd just have to stay well away from the forums!
  9. Capello can fuck off and all, only interested in a payday, like with England (who I'm not arsed about).
  10. I'm terribly saddened by what LFC has become, it seems to get worse year on year. If they haven't got someone amazing lined up, with a very very healthy transfer budget, they can fuck off as far as I'm concerned.

  12. Well as my answers to our respective questions would be different I guess I don't think we are asking the same thing. I don't necessarily think Kenny does represent our best chance of success. But I do think it's necessary to give managers time to prove themselves otherwise we run the risk of changing too often, of analysing their performance on a single season basis which (unless you have a sugardaddy) is more than likely going to hinder progress. As things stand, with our current ownership, we are going to have to earn every single bit of success we have with years of hard work and persistance - how many years I don't know.
  13. Maybe he just needs to surround himself with better people, better scouts and coaches. LFC needs to do some seriously good recruitment over this summer.
  14. Sorry but I think you're asking the wrong question, seriously. If we base our managerial decisions on your question then we run the risk of having to ask the same question every single year until someone comes along and gets it right in the first year. The correct questions are, how long do we as a club give a manager time to get it right? And each year what constitutes progress?
  15. It's just some posters way of trying to make this point of view seem a bit mad, to belittle it in order to further their own argument.
  16. You're frigging kidding yourself. If we could sack our legendary manager after one full season in which we won a trophy then what the hell makes you think we'd give anyone else 5 years? Get real.
  17. Kenny hasn't been given the chance to prove this yet. One full season and he's being written off, whatever way you paint it that is disrespectful. All managers need time and patience (or huge wads of money) to show exactly what they are capable of, especially with the competition being as strong as it is these days.
  18. Yes IF Woy hadn't been such an utter twat so out of place and out of his depth at Liverpool. He acted the cunt while he was here, like he was still managing Fulham. He was disrespectful towards our club and greatest legend while arse licking Mr Ferguson. Totally unacceptable behaviour from a Liverpool manager. If he hadn't acted the way he, did many more would have supported giving him the requisite time to build his own team, even if they didn't have total faith.
  19. Clearly I should have asked a more pointed question. Do any locals know when the parade is scheduled for if we win? It's usually in the Echo a day or two before.
