  1. Not really sure exactly what open source is, but I've been using a free one called Kingsoft Office. Had it a couple of months and seems decent, no trouble so far and came recommended.
  2. Oh hush with your conspiracies!! Haven't you been convinced by the comments on here that Ferguson loves the club and wouldn't purposely harm it? No, me either. I particularly raised my eyebrows at the suggestion he kept quiet over the Glazers for the sake of the club, when it's not impossible he went along with them for personal reasons. I mean, was he thinking of the club when he very publically took on, for personal reasons, Magnier and Macmanus? Nothing would surprise me with him. Even their own fans have been reserved (wary?) of him, think how little they sung his name. That man should have been worshipped by them, he wasn't. Some people should ask themselves why?
  3. Nani well knew Bob was there, otherwise why not just let the ball drop and have a clear run into a wide open pitch. No, he knew there was a player in the vicinity and felt he had to get in ahead of him and pluck it out of the sky.
  4. The point is that any buyout clause is better for the player than none at all. He currently has none at all, or so it seems, so I can see Suarez accepting a 'fair' clause, ie abroad and for a fair price. If he stays it'd be the best, most realistic, compromise for both parties.
  5. Assuming he currently has no buyout clause, which seems to have been proven in recent weeks, then adding a £60m clause is beneficial to the club and the player.
  6. I think xerxes is trying to imply his current contract has a lower buyout clause than if he signed a new one, i.e .the not better "for him, why sign?" comment. I'm not sure why he's implying this, if indeed he is, with all that's transpired recently.
  7. I'm not by any means condoning how Suarez has behaved recently, but if his flirting with Arsenal has shamed our owners into loosening the purse strings then we may all one day thank him for it.
  8. I'm after a new telly, any advice from anyone here? Budget is £500-600, and should be between 39-42". I'd prefer a Panasonic or perhaps Sony, but open to suggestions. Have my eye on this one currently: Buy Panasonic Viera TX-L42E6B LED HD 1080p Smart TV, 42" with Freeview HD online at John Lewis
  9. If he does get an updated contract here, which I think generally is a good idea of he's staying, I'd be wary of putting in a clause that is effective if we don't qualify for CL. Seeing what Suarez is capable of recently I wouldn't put anything past him, including hindering our chances. We should just agree to £60m (or whatever the club feel is a fair price) and to any club abroad, irrespective of their or our CL participation.
  10. No chance, why would he go back? He has no unfinished business. If the Mancs decide they have to sack Moyes mid-season they'd hand over the reigns to the likes of Giggs or Neville, at least on a caretaker basis. I think Moyes will get at least 3 years even if he wins sod all, as long as nothing disastrous happens - Ferguson will convince them to give him time.
  11. Fair enough. Naturally though I'd only advocate signing a new contract if the terms were suitable to both parties and with no ambiguity, I'd even encourage him let the union read it before signing! I too would be concerned he'd go through the motions thereafter and perhaps even deliberately make a poor effort, but we're in danger of that happening anyway. Basically I don't want Luis Suarez to stay at LFC unless there's a semblence of reconciliation.
  12. Agree with this, however we're not even at the same table as the Mancs and Chelsea so don't think our transfer activity is particularly linked to theirs.
  13. I actually think this is a good idea because if we do hang onto him, we need to get to a place where both parties are happy. It's no good to us having an unhappy and demotivated player on our hands. Give him a clear clause which is suitable to both parties, i.e. £60m (or whatever) to a CL club overseas.
  14. While on the surface what you're suggesting is plausible, I don't think it stands up if you think about it in more depth. Do you really think that LFC drafted a written contract which did not reflect the verbal one in the hope that none of Suarez, his agent, or lawyers would spot the 'deliberate' mistake? A verbal discussion which, by the way, included a knock down fee allowing him to move to any club of his choosing? Because that seems to be the suggestion, a suggestion which is very implausible. Rather, I think, the more likely scenario is that at the time Luis had good relations with the club (who had tried to support him over the Evra incident albeit very cackhandedly) and was very happy with his huge payrise and content with a £40m clause based on these good relations/good faith. There's nothing wrong with that from either party really, except now it seems Luis is not acting in the good faith intended by trying to insist he can move to a direct rival for perhaps half of his worth. I think if Real Madrid had come in for him for £45-50m the verbal discussions and written contract would have been upheld, unfortunately that's not the case. edit - by the way, in case you hadn't noticed, Gordon Taylor enjoys getting his face in the news so him having his very muted say (for once) on this is no indication of anything
  15. You talk about his ambitions as if they are to be admired, so please explain, what's so ambitious about wanting to go to Arsenal?
  16. If we do eventually sell to Arsenal for a reduced (less than our value) fee then there better be some scope for adding a massive sell on clause, because I've little doubt that if he goes there he'll be agitating for a move again in a couple of years.
  17. Look at the Heinze case - his release at a set price was in writing. The Mancs blocked it, Heinze asked the PL to intervene and guess what, they backed the Mancs based on conjecture basically. Everyone said we were stitched up then, and it's continued regularly since.
  18. I disagree. If they feel there's an example to be made the Premier League/FA/PFA will make it with Liverpool.
  19. There was little chance of top players wanting to join us anyway, and I'd say the chances of those just a level below joining us would not alter with his departure - there's more to LFC than Suarez. Look at Sturridge, if anything he'd surely have been less inclined to move to a club with a very clear first choice forward such as Suarez (due to his experience at his previous two clubs), but he came anyway.
  20. He's a cheeky, dishonourable fucker, and I would not be surprised if he's outright lying about this verbal agreement, though do suspect he's only twisting an 'understanding'. He's stooping very very low to now use (or threaten to use) the same authorities and media that have demonised him in his time at LFC, against the club and supporters that stood by him throughout those dark times. You rep what you sow Luis, you reap what you sow.
  21. Not in the case of the football authorities in England, as we have seen numerous times particularly in matters concerning LFC. See the Heinze and Suarez/Evra cases. Unfortunately as a club we have allowed ourselves to be fucked over so many times it will continue to happen as if it's the accepted norm. I'm expecting it to happen in this case. For the record I would not be against the club honoring its word if it was given, I just don't believe for one minute that we agreed verbally to let him go to any club for £40m. I expect what's happened is the £40m is a written clause whereby the club is obliged to enter negotiations (but not accept) and that any verbal agreement is a general understanding that Suarez might look elsewhere if we fail to reach the CL - but I don't believe there were any stipulations in this verbal understanding. And if the understanding is from both parties then the player should understand that we want a fair price and can have a say in where he goes.
  22. Oh you've edited your post. Both the players you mention wanted to leave, Ferguson didn't beg them to stay as at the time he had many more equally as good, or better, players than them and he felt he'd had their best years. Around that time he also begged Cantona to stay. Since then he's insisted Ronaldo stays for a further season, and begged (and rewarded) Rooney. Basically he put up with it if he felt the player was worth it.
  23. Taking the piss? Yes I can well imagine it. He not only put up with it from Rooney, he begged him to stay and gave him a fat new contract in reward.
  24. Agree with your main point. I have to confess I would happily sell to Chelsea or Man City tomorrow (abroad first preferably) with the turn this has taken. We can pretty much guarantee they will be in the mix anyway and neither club is a historical rival.
