  1. Based on the above City would be able to increase their combined costs by 17 million. 17 million would be the 1 year amortisation cost on an 85 million pound player without factoring in wages and agents fee's, so let's say a 60 million pound player at 12 million with 5 million split between wages and agents fee's. Obviously that's if it was all put through the books legitimately and doesn't account for any reductions, brought about by contract renewals, players leaving etc.
  2. Isn't Martinez on the verge of signing, or has just signed, a new deal?
  3. According to the Athletic it's tied to first team wage bill so my figure further up that included total wage bill would be considerably less and leaves us well under the proposed cap before you even factor in upcoming reductions.
  4. Talk of James Trafford if Kelleher leaves as well.
  5. It's an overall cap on the total spent on wages, amortisation and agent fees. The cap will be set ('anchored') at X times the total TV revenue received by the lowest earning club (suggestion is x4.5 or x5 but not agreed). There are additional rules being discussed around clubs in Europe being able to spend 70% of their revenue and clubs not in Europe being able to spend 85%. It sounds like the anchoring will be the upper limit to control clubs with huge revenues (real or otherwise) spending vastly more while the 70%/85% could be the normal limit. The detail we haven't seen yet is what they mean by wages and amortisation fee. Is it the total wage bill or the wage bill of players and coaching staff, equally is the amortisation fee for new transfers or the total amortisation fee of the squad (I'd guess the latter).
  6. I'd get used to the idea of Nunez sticking around.
  7. So 'spending' on wages, amortisation and agents fees will be limited to x times the lowest earning club in the league. Coupled with the recent vote on banning amortisation for longer than 5 years. Cobbling together very rough figures for us our costs are currently about £511m although it depends what wages are included (do non playing/coaching staff count) and doesn't include upcoming savings on some high earners.
  8. Joyce rocking up with the new contract talk as well now.
  9. staying another year and new contract seems to be the thinking (whether this is posturing remains to be seen), year extension to protect some value, Slot doesn't have to go through his first season minus his most consistent goalscorer and it can be revisited next year would be the optimal solution if he doesn't go this summer.
  10. I voted sell if we get a massive fee but if we can get the pre-Afcon Salah back on an additional year then that's ok too. With Nunez also unlikely to be sold it does limit our ability to improve the attack so we'll be hoping for them all to improve their efficiency/stay fit.
  11. Looks like we now have some clarity on Salah's future so it's unlikely the attack changes too much (previous reports of Nunez sticking around included). Diaz to PSG would be the only significant change we could make now it seems.
  12. Probably worth revisiting this Athletic article from a few years back now that Edwards is back, can't imagine they've strayed too far away from it since he left but whether we stuck as doggedly to it come decision time is up for debated
  13. The midfield should be pretty simple, it just needs another defensive mid to balance it out. In 4231 #6 - New DM, Endo, Bajcetic #6/#8 - Mac Allister, Gravenberch, Jones In 433 #8 - Mac Allister, Jones, Gravenberch, Szoboszlai, Elliott #6 - New DM, Endo, Bajcetic
  14. If Diaz's dad isn't pushing for him to leave all summer then I'm more than happy with Diaz and Gakpo taking the left sided attacker spot with Jota being the 3rd man up (Jota and Gakpo also being the alternative for the #9 role). They're the only three I'm 100% on going into next season with. Everything else is dependent on what happens with Nunez and Salah.
  15. Nobodies suggesting him as the direct replacement for either player but as part of the squad, If Leeds don't get promoted it could be a steal.
  16. Got 5 goals and 6 assists in his first season in the premier league (including the winner against us) as well as the 20 goals 10 assists this season in the championship, and he's still only 22.
  17. This stop gap idea is so fucking stupid.
  18. Here you go. https://archive.ph/wasaS#selection-2573.4-2573.89
  19. Better to sell him a year early, for a massive fee, than a year late. One of our best players prior to the Afcon but his usual post international slump coupled with injury has killed any momentum. With a new manager, and a fresh start, now might be the best time to get the most we can for him and invest that into a new goalscorer even if it is selling our most consistent source of goals.
  20. While even I wouldn't lay the blame solely at Nunez's feet, how much impact is the forwards (all of them) inefficiency having on the defensive unit when they know they need to be near perfect or the game is over?
  21. Doesn't pay to give managers long contracts in their first deal and will pay even less with the new Profit and Sustainability rules coming in. Chelsea have found that out to their cost when appointing their managers as they end up paying large compensation fee's for appointing them and then they're on the hook for large exceptional costs when they have to fire them. Plus as someone has already said, Klopp got 3 initially and if Slott gets in the door and is looking like he'll be successful he'll be renewed pretty quickly.
  22. Early kick out at the Carlton club then.
  23. Lutsharel Geertruida was at the game, haven't seen anything about Gimenez.
