  1. True, City especially can afford to make more expensive mistakes because they're gaming the system with inflated commercial deals. I do have to point out that Premier League club owners are allowed to cover losses ranging 15m - 105m. The Premier League's version of FFP is quite lenient in comparison to UEFA's criteria in that regard. In essence, it isn't cheating if FSG had overspent on transfers in the past 3 seasons and then covered the losses (as long as Liverpool didn't exceed the 105m loss limit set by the Premier League). That's why people legitimately say "FSG can spend some transfer money from their own pockets". It's not cheating if they do.
  2. Yeah, great feat. Although Suarez did score more than him after the same number of games played in 2013/14 season. 19 league goals in 12 appearances. I reckon Suarez had more assists during that period too. So yeah, Haaland is no Suarez. He would have to throw in a bite or two to reach that level.
  3. Correct about Curtis Jones. Do we even know what is wrong with him this time?
  4. What do they call the opposite of flat track bullying?
  5. They have been linking well since the start of the season though. Salah and Nunez were directly involved in goals for each other during the first league game, away at Fulham. And it was fairly clear at that point that they had an understanding of each other. There have been more examples of their link up play since that time but people tend to forget because those didn't lead directly to goals.
  6. No, I wouldn't want Arsenal to win it. Since the Wenger era, their fans have suffered from delusions of grandeur. At least Utd and Chelsea fans have a couple European cups to boast of in addition to numerous domestic trophies over the past couple decades. Paraphrasing the famous words of our Usher, Arsenal fans just love smelling themselves too much.
  7. Er .. what? Absolutely wrong. His good link up with Salah has been fairly obvious right from the start. In his league debut, both of them directly had a hand in goals for each other. They've combined well in games after that. Last night he put Salah through for the Cavarlho chance. And also set up a guaranteed tap in which only got deflected past Salah by their defender. Seems some of our fans just wilfully ignore the good attributes of Darwin's game.
  8. That was offside though. It wont have counted since there was only one Liverpool player closer to goal when the ball was played forward.
  9. I'll say once again, City hate playing us more than any other side. I never fear going into a game against them under Klopp. That's 3 straight defeats they've suffered against us now. They have won only 2 games in the last 10 against us. And of the 2 games they beat us in, 1 was at an empty Anfield. The other was when we went to Etihad right after winning the league, still in party mode. Klopp is in Pep's head which leads to weird decision making from the bald weirdo in many of our games.
  10. So a midtable Championship team like Luton or Bristol City would have reached the Europa League final knocking out Dortmund and Leipzig? Before losing the final only on penalties? Nah, simply won't happen. Even when Gerrard was in charge of their team, they had decent results against good European teams. Topping their group ahead of Benfica in 2020/21 for example and reaching round of 16 in consecutive seasons. Of course, they are way below our level. Most teams in most leagues in Europe are way below our level. However, Rangers and Celtic would most likely be placed in the lower ranks of the Premier League, battling relegation and returning right away whenever they do get relegated. It is an exaggeration to claim they would be midtable in the Championship.
  11. Nice assist to show that he's been adding that attacking intent as I pointed out earlier. Also no signs of being a fat arse. Full of energy and pace. And wound Morelos up as a bonus.
  12. Yep, Gomez has given solid defensive performances at right back. Last season, there was even evidence he was adding some attacking attributes to his game from that position. He didn't look stocky to me. Pace wise, he couldn't have been match sharp at the Emirates. He hasn't had any starts since the Napoli game, iirc. Only got a few minutes here and there. Then he gets thrown into the Arsenal game with a red hot Martinelli as his direct opponent. No surprise that he looked a bit sluggish. He'll be fine as soon as he gets a couple of starts.
  13. Of course he wouldnt be looking happy. We have had only 2 wins in 8 league games and the team is weak as piss. Hardly the time for him to be flashing his teeth in joy all over the gaff.
  14. That was one of the worst bits of attacking play we have had all season. The obvious and easy pass was to Nunez but Jota went all Hollywood ball.
  15. When we are in a poor run, people keep saying we've gotten figured out and Klopp should be trying something new. And then when he does try something new, people start to complain and get worried in advance of the game being played. Sigh.
  16. It was evident right away that comparisons were getting drawn between him and Haaland even before they kicked a competitive ball. As early as the community shield game, there was a lot of chat everywhere about what Nunez did and what Haaland didn't. Mo, Jota and Diaz are not scoring for fun. That causes pressure right away for Nunez. Because as soon as that freak started banging in a shitload of goals for City, the focus was going to be on a similar striker (in physique) who was conversely struggling at Liverpool.
  17. I was one of those who voted against signing him. However, I am willing to see the positives and I understand the various factors which have led to his slow start. Team is generally playing poorly, no consistent starts for him, period of adaptation, stupid 3 game ban etc A handful of fans wrote "what a hit" about his shot. Yeah, so fucking what? They were probably trying to counterbalance the absolute hysteria surrounding Nunez in which people like you look for the tiniest thing to criticise him for, even in training sessions. I'm sure in that same video there were loads more slating him for that miss vs Iran. He scored a header in the next game by the way. Hope you are not pissed off if I write - "What a header". He does have technique. If you watched closely yesterday, his control and touch are generally good. His passing & dribbling can be erratic though. Those can improve. And by the way, Man Utd were also strongly in for him. So you're wrong for saying there was no known rival for his signature.
  18. The Nunez who was great against us last season was having a consistent run of starts in a well settled team who made it to the CL qfinals. Liverpool havent played well in most games this season and Nunez hasnt had a consistent run of starts (partly due to his stupid sending off). In fact he has had only 3 starts in all competitions. All these factors should be considered when expecting to see him at his best.
  19. Yep, he absolutely gives off David Brent vibes. Even before the cringe fest of him giving the players his book on video, he was already showing signs of being too talkative and overly enthusiastic. He is a good coach no doubt, but if he ever became manager of Liverpool he would piss off majority of our fans fairly quickly.
  20. Top, top "Wolves have gone completely tame and lame" analysis, Dave. Think they would really struggle this season and Diego Costa isnt going to bring in the number of goals they require. It would be entertaining to see him cause chaos all over the place though.
  21. I reckon he scored a couple or more in training for Uruguay that day but there won't be clips of those goals floating about on the interweb. In this era, video clips are carefully selected to feed a narrative. The banter crowd and meme pages already made up their minds even before he kicked a ball for Liverpool and would keep looking for "hilarious" clips of Nunez, even during training sessions. I feel it is going to be like the Lukaku situation where he scores many goals for us but would continually be 'bantered' for a poor first touch or ungainly movement.
  22. Is he past his peak but can he still be useful in many games to dictate tempo and offer some creativity? Yes. It is laughable that people dismiss his considerable footballing ability. Saying that Klopp doesnt rate him as a footballer is a big joke. Henderson was the midfielder who actually played the highest number of games last season. If Klopp doesnt rate you, you would hardly play and he would bomb you out of the squad as soon as he can. Ask Ben Davies or Caulker or Benteke.
  23. I dont know why his ability on the ball is being disregarded as virtually non-existent. There have been so many examples of him making great through-balls and taking on shots, some have which have spectacularly hit the back of the net. Almost won the game by hitting the crossbar with a last minute shot vs Fulham this season. And on Wednesday, he put Salah through on goal in the lead up to the shot Elliot had saved by the keeper. So I don't think he lacks bravery on the ball at all. Is he often sometimes cautious with the use of the ball and does he avoid rash challenges occasionally? Yes and with good reason. As seen with the red card he received vs City in 2013/14 which was a factor in us losing to Chelsea. He is not a player who would do the flashy things all the time either.
