Exactly what I said to someone the other day. 12 months ago he was playing well, very well perhaps, and the narrative was "ok great, if he plays like this then he can be part of the squad next year, cool". But major injury worries change narratives. Had he missed loads of games last year we would not have been talking about him so glowingly. For me he's done. Out. No regrets, hope he does well, but no thanks.

I don't agree. I don't think it makes sense to throw massive money around unless it's a long term investment. We could buy Palhinha for £60m now and still miss out on the title by a point, or a shit VAR decision, as it's so close anyway. And then in the summer maybe we do have a sniff at Mbappe on a free and we ask ourselves what we could have got with that extra £60m. We're financially in a great position right now compared with many other top clubs, even the oil states may yet have to answer for FFP. We definitely do need 1 this January for DM, but it needs to be more clever than paying £60m for a guy who 3 years ago, at age 25, was on the verge of a move to CSKA Moscow. We can say "why do Bayern want him, he must be great", but that's not a great way to scout players.

Hickey would be excellent. I also think we need to forget about Bajcetic. There was a very different conversation about him last year, and I don't think that can be transferred to this year. He wasn't SO good that we would ignore major injury issues, that was never part of the conversation about his talent, it was "yes he looks very good, let's include him as part of the core squad next year". It wasn't a case of "this kid is world class and must be kept at all costs".

Agree, I'd love Toney, and we're in a position to help Brentford out with some decent squad players in part ex. Fuck, I'd offer Nunez on loan if he was up for it. See if Carvalho wants a move there. Brentford want to stay up though, that's the bottom line.

I'd be hopeful of Bowen if it wasn't for Moyes being a bitter cunt. I love Nunez but if Jürgen is going to play him wide left then I don't see a future for him as our 9. Not sure why he did that, but hardly a vote of confidence was it. I don't see Jürgen giving up on Gakpo, Diaz and Nunez. If there's one thing we know about him it's that he doesn't do that. He does love Bowen, and we do need a Salah back-up and replacement, but I don't see us stumping up silly money for him, or West Ham accepting it. They did knock back City for Paqueta until seemingly accepting £85m, so that's the bar. I feel we've got the wrong player in Nunez. He's great, he'll score tons of goals soon, but I don't think he'll settle in this country. He's a bouncy lad and I just think his lack of English is a struggle for him on and off the pitch.
