  1. Well we didn't get the 3rd. I mean I know Newcastle away is a good atmosphere but as you say our ability to manage the game is shocking. We should be doing much better up against 10 and 2 up. Hopefully an early goal comes.
  2. Get the 3rd before HT and rest a few legs for Madrid. This couldn't have gone much better.
  3. Look at Kalvin Phillips he probably should have done some research, he suffered the mother of all insults a loan bid from Everton after his transfer.
  4. Worth a read about Firmino and Gakpo even if it is speculative. The Brazilian’s average position at Old Trafford earlier this season was near-identical to that of Gakpo last weekend. As both games ended in 2-1 defeats and less than sparkling performances, it can’t yet be argued that having the centre forward that deep has really worked for Liverpool. It may be what Klopp is aiming towards in the long term though, with midfield runners tasked with arriving in the penalty box. The final third possession regain statistics for Firmino and Gakpo (via Fotmob) suggest the latter might be able to replace the former, as they have both hovered around the 1.0 per 90 mark for many years. Where the Dutchman has yet to prove he can take over is in terms of creativity. With PSV, Gakpo scored 45 goals and provided 44 assists. As he averaged 2.94 shots and 2.88 key passes per 90 minutes, it was likely his outputs would be similar. Yet in England, he has had 13 shots but hasn’t created a single chance. That will clearly need to change. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jurgen-klopp-quietly-found-liverpools-26121312
  5. I remember a few years back De Bruyne hired outsider's to assess if he should continue his career at Manchester City. I suspect Bellingham will be opting for similar analysis for his next club not based on any emotion. Via Atfield, De Bruyne commissioned Analytics FC to produce a report analysing the player's past, present and projected future performances and importance to the team - as well as benchmarking his salary against those of other world-leading attacking midfielders. TGG understands this showed he was significantly underpaid in comparison "We were contacted by the people who manage Kevin De Bruyne's career. They were aware of the data industry and the specific issues they wanted to analyse. “Kevin De Bruyne asked us to study all aspects of his contribution to the team and even how prepared Manchester City is for success in the years to come, based on the age and quality of the players. https://trainingground.guru/articles/how-analytics-fc-helped-de-bruyne-negotiate-new-man-city-deal
  6. Looks like he is in a bit of pain in the 81st minute when he stops Mcallister. He seemed fine a few minutes earlier when he made an excellent block against a shot from Evan Ferguson. He then doesn't seem to sprint for the rest of the match. When Mcallister is playing dead you can see him drinking a water bottle looking like he may have been in dialogue with two coaches. Klopp said something about Van Dijk from the Brentford game -- Van Dijk wanted to continue at HT but Klopp made the call. Might not have made any difference but why did he stay on.
  7. This is woeful news. No Konate or Van Dijk.
  8. Klopp joined in October 2015 salah joined in the summer of 2017. So the 850 goals Salah wasn't here for a chunk. The 44% applies to the time since Salah joined and when he was on the pitch. It's goals and assists.
  9. For those moaning about Salahs wages. The options were let him leave on a free at the end of this season or give him a contract. He made clear he wasn't going to be sold against his will. Salah was underpaid compared relative to his peers for most of his time here -- well I'm sure that is what his agent would have told Salah and he would have had a strong case. FSG knew Salah was an asset in the sale of the club. There is a reason why sponsors wanted Ronaldo at the club even though he was stinking the place out. This season we have scored 60 goals and Salah has 23 goals and assists. I make that 39% of goals this season have been scored or assisted by Salah and I haven't deducted minutes he may have been rested for.
  10. Didn't realise this is he how he got the nickname. Puts a whole new emphasis on the bucket he uses as a seat.
  11. Bit of a coincidence. He must be very important as a fair few oligarchs fall out of a window or suffer a suspicious fate when no longer of use.
  12. Who can add to the entertainment of headlocks and roadblocks but the first manager to get done for a headbutt. Pardiola the former LMA winner and nearly a conqueror of the redshite in a final. A man who has seen a lot of boos and bedsheets from his time at Newcastle. He even ssshs Klopp -- get him in.
  13. The Everton fans aren't buying the headlock thing. They have been contacting the plod looking for evidence of the incident. Being charitable to Everton fans they are right to highlight the timing of the club announcement was to slant any peaceful protest colouring them as thugs. Saying that the special forces shenanigans confronting players post game won't help them. For transparency my suggestion is Amazon do a behind the scenes documentary of their relegation battle following the board and some proper proper supporters.
  14. His overall point across the season stands up quite well though. We haven't defended from the front as we have done in previous seasons putting the midfield under greater pressure. I'm not discounting that he is partially going out his way to deflect criticism just like he did when Trent was under greater scrutiny. I'd also bet that only one of Thiago, Elliott, Henderson, Keita will be starting regularly next season in midfield.
  15. Going behind in 10 out of 17 league games is probably skewing the big chances data as we are always chasing the game. Leicester and Newcastle I think are the two we came from behind to win. Klopp always wants 3 points he doesn't like draws. It's what has enabled him to notch up 90 plus points and go on impossible runs. Defend from the front bitches. Klopp highlighting the obvious. I mean if you lose Jota, Mane, Firmino, Diaz surely that is a huge problem. When you add a less athletic and aging midfield all that doesn't help. I defo agree we have to be more pragmatic at times but as the season progresses and Nunez improves his pressing, players comeback and the new signings ?contribute all that will help.
  16. A lot of their fans would be rightly disgusted but he's a bit of a lightning rod for them isn't he.
  17. If they get turned over by Southampton I hope Kenwright has security as it would be very toxic.
  18. Orsic has won me a few bets and has just signed for Southampton. 30 year old attackers don't tend to fair well coming to England but he has scored against Chelsea, West Ham and his hat-trick to knock spurs out was excellent. Could make a difference for Southampton.
  19. This simulated 538 table has us and Newcastle tied 4th same GD on 69 points We face them away on the Saturday before Real Madrid at home. Everton to survive on GD with 34 points. https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/soccer-predictions/premier-league/
  20. Mo and young Elliott the only two who play regular to always be available for selection.
