  1. If only there had been some warning sign....
  2. Rome: Open City Paisan Germany: Year Zero Three films made immediately after WWII, set in Rome, Italy and Berlin. That immediacy really adds to the stories, which run from bittersweet to full-on tragic.
  3. If he goes, which of the carbuncle will succeed him?
  4. An interim manager will do just what Crackle did: set them up to defend and hit on the counter. With all that offensive talent, results will improve. It might be tempting to go down the same cul de sac they did with Crackle but I doubt that they could sell it to the supporters a second time.
  5. I was going to say something about Moss being a useless fat fuck, but just as I was typing it he gave slabhead the red, so I thought I'd give him a break.
  6. Police report and insurance adjuster both indicate that there were no fatalities, so the driver of the trapped car presumably survived. Very pleased with that, of course.
  7. In an embarassing case of something being "lost in translation", one of Newcastle's new owners has just stated that if indeed Hoffman is to be a sacrificial lamb, he is willing to take on the task slitting his throat.
  8. "Come And See" Late-Soviet-era anti-war film set in WWII Belarus. (Seemed an appropriate choice, given the circumstances and the fools playing games there currently.) A stark, disturbing portrayal of yet another example of "man's inhumanity to man". A hard film to watch that doesn't pull any punches. It's also, visually, a beautiful film, and, from a technical stand-point, it's brilliant. I'd never heard of it before, but doing some reading now it fully deserves it's reputation as a classic. So good that despite the content I will watch it again.
  9. The fellows on the right there, obviously. And once it was out, they got back in their vehicles and drove away. A bit like Batman, come to think of it.
  10. Briefly. Couple weeks ago was travelling home and ran into a transport truck parked across the highway. We and three other vehicles. It was a bit mad there for a while as we were pulling people out of burning cars, and then stood watching as a group of passers-by hooked a pick-up to one of the cars that was stuck under the truck with the driver still alive inside and yanked it out from underneath as the fire burned the vehicles next to it, truck tires exploding, fuel tanks going up etc. The strap kept breaking, but they just tied it back up and kept yarding away on that car til it was free. I haven't heard if the driver survived--they air-lifted her to Vancouver for treatment. But if she did they saved her life. Went to the hospital to get checked out as I was a little shaken up. Still sore from the seatbelt that kept me from going through the wind-shield.
  11. Angolan supporters (at least I assume they're Angolan supporters as the match is being played in Angola) invading the pitch attempting to get selfies with Salah. He's made it through, unscathed, as have Egypt into the next round. Hopefully Quiroz will rest him for the final match.
  12. He's a horrible, diving, backing-under-defenders prick.
