  1. Early September dates have been the norm for quite a while. NI beat England on the 7th September 2005.
  2. BBC Gossip pages suggest: 1) We're open to Coutinho returning (Le 10 Sport) 2) Real Madrid want to swap Asensio for Mané (Express) I'd suggest neither are worth the click.
  3. He’s a good player & improves them. They’ve paid over the odds though. Even if he continues to be good, I don’t see a scenario where his sell on values increases much.
  4. Northern Ireland win. Minsk beautiful. Weather superb. Alcohol consumed. Silly o’clock flight home in the morning. All is good in the world.
  5. He’s played a few international games for NI. He did a lot of athletics as a kid & is very quick. Decent enough for us but lots to learn.
  6. Joel Matip was also a freebie wasn't he? Not sure he's quite on either level as the two aforementioned, but he deserves great credit for his second half of the season & performances in the CL too.
  7. I'll be honest, I didn't enjoy that at all until Div stepped up, what an awful game of football, but that doesn't matter now! Delighted, absolutely delighted. So many folks to feel happy for - Jurgen, Big Game James, Henderson, Trent... those boys getting this result makes me so happy. Brilliant!
  8. I thought I read earlier today that there was no question they've broken PL FFP rules... in fact, I'm not even sure they've broken UEFA FFP rules, but the investigators are working on the angle that they misled them and it's the lying that they're hanging their hat on rather than the ££ numbers.
  9. For £70m or whatever, on De Ligt, I’m a no. Gomez has earned his opportunity to be our long term partner to VVD. We have bigger priorities.
  10. He's got a knack for important goals... lasts night was being in the right place at the right time. Loads of room for improvement in his game, and he could definitely add a bit of bite to his approach (he's possibly too nice & too laid back).
  11. Last night was his 74th? appearance... on the 50th appearance, Barcelona had to pay the next part of his 'appearance' clause £4.4m. There's another two of those at 75 & 100 appearances. Not so sure he'll make it to 100 to be honest... I think we've already got the full pay on the 'Barca qualify for the CL' clauses (for two seasons). We're not getting the cash on the 'Barca win the CL' clause this year! Hindsight is obviously 20/20, but bloody hell, what a sale by the club.
  12. Be nice ifthe shithousery was pulled up early by the officials & Barcelona has someone sent off in the first 20 minutes.
  13. Yes, absolutely spot on. I guess what I was trying to say was if you took £300m with a plan, replaced the keeper (who wants out), two central defenders & a decent couple of midfielders (one of whom wants out possibly, definitely if they don't get CL football) this summer, you'd potentially have a spine to work with in January / next summer. It's a multi-year job at this point and as you say, they probably don't have the patience for it. They certainly don't seem to have a plan.
  14. If they had a plan, flogging Pogba & De Gea for £120m (lets be generous & say they'd get buyers at those prices) and probably a bit of flotsom to bottom of the division / promoted sides. They could have £200m to spend off sales alone - and given their financial capability, they could add £100m to that easily. As you say, they could be contenders within two years, IF they had a plan. They clearly don't & it's very amusing.
  15. Seems like the right place... LFC in conversation about renting White Hart Lane for a 2019/20 pre-season friendly. That's a bit shit.
  16. I'd love to see the full minute & a half of this from him celebrating to him putting his head in his hands...
  17. I think the reality is, we're watching two absolute machines in their prime. If we finish second, it'll be to a monster of a performance by City to not only out pace us, but to retain the title - something nobody has done in a while. We've been excellent. Beyond our own expectations I'd suggest, so if it comes up short, that'll be disappointing (obviously), but the other outfit will have deserved it.
  18. Isn't that the crux of it? We were spoiled last season when practically everything worked. He's come down to nearer mortal levels and still scoring and creating goals. Sure, he's had some mixed games recently, but he's actually looking sharper than he was a month ago I'd suggest, despite not being at the same levels of last season. If he's coming in to form at the business end of a title and European Cup chasing season, that can't be bad.
  19. If an opponent had laid one like that on VVD, I'd imagine the perspective might be different in some quarters. I think he was fortunate to get away with nothing. Accident or no - and I don't believe he did it on purpose - you see those given as Red Cards frequently. It probably doesn't fall under Violent or Serious Foul play, but hard to judge at the full speed of a game for a referee if he sees the foot land on a shin like that. He was off balance, he didn't follow through so easy to see as an accident on replay.
  20. Dele Alli is still quite young though, and there's talent there. If Klopp wanted him, I'm sure he could make him perform at the top level. Eriksen & Son would be the two I'd be thinking of. Big money, particularly for the former, and particularly with Levy. Would any of their workhorse midfielders be worth considering if Milner heads off to Leeds?
  21. There's been renewed stuff about Pogba off to Madrid this last week or so, no? Messing with his head & their form? Sky Sports News has a first 9 games & since comparison of Pogba's threat & to say it's gone off a cliff would be kind. I can't see them sacking him if they finish 5th or 6th this season. He's got till Christmas I would say.
